I placed an order through cheaper than dirt. Which they aren't cheaper than dirt. They will try to screw the consumer on shipping by charging multiple shipping charges per warehouse. It's not the consumer fault that CTDIRT decided to come up with 9 different warehouses. \r \r Just got off phone they said my order want ship for another day or two which will be a total of 96 hrs. These guys claim they will get it out in 24 hrs. What garbage!!!!\r \r Don't buy here you will regret it!!!! more

I started using ctd when they first arrived on the scene many years ago. Within one year they had left the discount market behind. The prices started going up and they took advantage of the market rather quickly. I quit buying from them years earlier than others d/t their pricing practices. I was absolutely amazed with how much of the market they had. But other folks did not watch them from their humble start. Though I never bought anything else I have watched as they have taken advantage of unknowing buyers over and over. This last debacle about a year ago has finally gone main stream, with a whole lot of disappointed former buyers. I do hope all take notice of their practices. I hear them now being advertised on a main stream evening talk radio show. Kind of like a penny, they keep showing up. more

doug g.you can use .223 in a 5.56,not the other way around..easy mistake to make...and technically there is a very miniscule difference in size between the rounds.they are essentially the same round... an easy way of thinking of it is like comparing standard vs metric tools.no need to flame some one over a mistake THEY did catch right away and the ""professionals"" at the company told them otherwise more

Bait and Switch 2/21/2012

""I ordered a KABAR Pestilence Chopper Knife from the website on 02/14/12. The listing had a description and picture of the knife at a great price of $19.58. I received the shipped item on 02/2012 and opened the box to find a ridiculous metal sign. I pulled up the invoice and it showed I ordered a knife but when I checked the item they changed their website to show the sign. I called CTD and they refused to honor the price and send me the knife. I spoke with Jan and then her supervisor. They said they had a mistake on their website and corrected it but they didn't bother to call the customer and instead shipped me this ridiculous sign. I'm getting a refund but they should be obligated to honor their advertised item and price. Bait and switch and no concern for the customer."" more

556 vs 223 ammo @ Cheaper than dirt 1/18/2012

I READ A REVIEW ON HERE ABOUT SOMEONE WHO BOUGHT AMMO & REALIZED THAT 556 WONT WORK IN A 223 RIFLE . NO KIDDING ! REALLY? DUH !!!!!!! ANYONE WHO KNOS ANYTHING ABOUT WEAPONS KNOWS THIS . 556 IS A MILITARY ROUND , 223 IS A CIVI ROUND !! IF YOU WANT A WEAPON THAT SHOOTS BOTH , GET A 223 WYLDE . YOU DONT HAVE TO BADMOUTH THE STORE WHERE YOU BOUGHT THE AMMO BECAUSE OF YOUR OWN STUPIDITY YOU JACKWAGON! more

Highly recommend 4/12/2009

Be advised the Cheaper than Dirt (CTD) ""brick and mortar"" store and the online store are two different businesses owned by two different individuals. They compete against one another! I have done business with the ""brick and mortar"" store on the north side of Ft. Worth many times and find them to be a pleasure to deal with. They have friendly, knowledgeable people behind the counter to help you with your firearms purchases. Their prices are very competitive. Pros: Good selection, reasonable prices more

Customer service is an oxymoron here 1/4/2009

Beware of buying this or any other products from this company, as they are prone to use false advertising. Moments after ordering some of the Lake City 5.56mm ammo, I read other postings on their very own website that said 5.56 should not be used in weapons chambered for .223. I immediately contacted their customer service since my rifle is chambered for .223, and asked if I could replace that portion of my order with some ammo in .223. At this time, the ammo had not yet been shipped and I had also ordered $300 worth of handgun ammo. The woman I spoke to insisted that the ammo was .223 even though the boxes are plainly marked 5.56mm, and she pretended to ask a ""technical person"", who said the same thing. So I foolishly believed her and that was the ammo they shipped me. Subsequently, I found numerous other references to the fact that one must not shoot 5.56mm in a .223, including an email from the manufacturer of my rifle, referencing that specific brand and caliber 5.56mm. I emailed Cheaper Than Dirt twice requesting an exchange, and they never even replied to me. Look at all the places where there is 5.56mm on their website advertised as .223 despite all the warnings, and you get a pretty good idea of what sort of business people they are. Cons: Customer Service, False Advertising more
