Best

I can't speak to the patron who tried to order pizza, but any self-described foodie must visit this cheese case. Not only will you find things you can't find in any other cheese...

Worst

So So.....Just so so............ 1/22/2008

I came to philly to try dibrunos...I have to admit--it was so so....Overall not that bad---but nothing to write home about...Found these cheese to be good...Found their meats to be sub par....I have seen some truly great places like carlinos and bressimarkets----no comparison regarding quality products... Pros: Good cheese... Cons: Dry cured products not good.... more

Over Rated...Better Places..... 12/20/2007

I just think this place was very over rated...I went in their thinking it would be AWESOME---and it was so so...I agree with the other people who commented on their meats...Not too good---VERY fatty... Pros: good location....good cheese.... Cons: meats are fatty... more

Very average....WAY over priced.... 12/16/2007

Listen---the food their is not too bad...Lets face it--their cheese is quite good.....Customer service is average--but I think they are way over priced...Plus---their aged meats are below average...I mean their sopressata is just plain BAD....Google PA sopressata or PA Capicola to look at some alternatives... Pros: Cheese is Good... Cons: Meats are bad.... more

Great cheese selection but rude customer service 11/14/2007

I tried to ask for help with cheese selection. No on wants to help me. A guy that work there was too busy giving out cheese sample and flirting with other blonde female customers. When I asked him questions either he ignored or just say yes or no or oh yeah this one is great, this one is ok etc. with an aditude. very dissapointed experience. Some of the products are over priced. I like the store don't get me wrong. I just wish they have better customer service. Pros: cheese Cons: service, over priced more

Best cheese in the city 6/14/2007

I can't speak to the patron who tried to order pizza, but any self-described foodie must visit this cheese case. Not only will you find things you can't find in any other cheese store outside of maybe New York City, but they'll also let you sample several cheeses (knowing full well of course that you will not be able to resist buying). more

My Favorite Place for Cheese 5/18/2007

Incredible food selection in the market and mouthwatering menu upstairs. The cheese cave personnel is extremely helpful with pairing suggestions and trying new flavors. All of my friends request this place when they come to town. more

Rude customer service 5/11/2007

I went in for lunch and went upstairs, the place was empty except for less than a handful Pros: It' clean Cons: Rude Service more

great alternative to the south philly italian market... 4/14/2007

though the original cheese shop is in south philly...always fresh food & great market atmosphere -- wish they still set up as many samples as they used to! more

ATTITUDE TO MATCH THE PRICES WITHOUT THE EXPERTISE!!!! 1/4/2007

We were very excited to learn that an upscale market was moving into the neighborhood, that was until we experienced what they had to offer. The selection is good if they have in stock what you want. But be prepared to pay for it. Other establishments in the hood carry the same merchandise for 30- 40% less (check out Williams-Sonnoma). You also have to deal with a staff that lacks product knowledge but has LOTS of ATTITUDE!!! There is also a blond who I believe is the cashier supervisor that is a superior B---CH!! I think she forgets she works behind a counter! To top it all off one of the family members stands guard up front who always seems to make a fool of himself. You know the dear in the headlights type. One time I had to return OJ that was bad and he told the check out guy to taste it. Was he thinking I was making it up???! What can I say in a pinch it works thank goodness my husband has a great career! Pros: walking distance from Rittenhouse Square Cons: over priced, major attitude, look before you buy had bought many spoiled items! more

More than Just Cheese 7/4/2006

I love this beautifully redone Rittenhouse Square DiBruno Bros. location. My favorite prepared item would have to be the crabcake. It is 6 ounces of pure heaven. It is also healthy and not covered in bread crumbs or tarter sauce like many other crabcakes in town. This one is less caloric and actually tastes better that way for a chance. I also was impressed by the fact that DiBruno stocks Cipriani's bellini mix in their refrigerated drinks section. What a class act! I consider DiBruno Bros. to be Philly's premier gourmet grocer, like Dean & Deluca and Citarella in New York. DiBruno Bros. is on my radar, and I look forward to seeing what they do next. Pros: Knowlegable store managers Cons: Items add up quickly more

A Great Space for Parties and Events 5/16/2006

Di Bruno is not just a great place to shop and buy prepared foods - upstairs is a wonderful place to have a party or an event or even attend an event! It's unique, hip and fun, and of course, the food and hors d'eurves to choose from is fabulous. I was a corporate event that did a wine and cheese tasting with stations, and I also attended a wedding rehearsal dinner. I also attended one of their Chef's Demo and Tasting events, which usually happen on Monday nights, and it was delightful! I highly recommend this space for something different than our average caterer or hotel. Pros: Beautiful, fun, hip more

A gourmet destination 5/7/2006

A wide variety of smoked meats, a cave full of cheese, pastries from Termini's as well as an abundance of prepared foods to take home and a cappucino and gelato bar keep the palate occupied downstairs at DiBruno's while upstairs an airy cafe features gourmet pizzas, salads, kobe beef burgers, and other lunch items to enjoy at the tables provided. The burgers are some of the best around, and upstairs items capitalize on the fresh cheeses and meats downstairs. more

Twelve pounds of Yuppie in a 10 pound bag. 4/10/2006

Now, this is a fine establishment, with what pretty much is the best selection of deli products outside of the Italian Market or maybe Reading Terminal Market. Not only this, it is in a prime location within center city. You would think, with all this going for it, that it would be quite expensive. And you would be right. The prices are definitely not cheap, however for the enterprising connoisseur Di Bruno's is a perfect place to grab lunch, and some artisan bread for home. Premade sandwiches located downstairs, and fresh meals made upstairs, are both delicious. Pros: Selection, Quality Cons: Price, Yuppies more

Amazing selection and quality cheese! 6/27/2005

They have an amazing selection of cheeses. Although not all of them suited my taste, the ones I picked out for myself most definitely did! Pros: Great Service, Excellent Quality, Friendly Service more
