I am writing a review that dates back to 1971. We ere two college kids with a lot of cats and dogs. The doc took great care of all our friends with many discounts along the way. Waiting for the doc and sitting beside a monkey or a rather large cat are some our best memories. He took great care of all of us, that's as close as can discribe it. He is truly a great guy and I judge all vets by him.\r I can not tell you how happy I am to find him and in the same place.\r Thinking back,\r Pam and Leo more

KATE MARMASH ALMOST KILLED MY DOG. She prescribed her medication for heart failure without doing bloodwork, an echocardiogram, or an xray. After taking my dog to a specialist who did an echocardiogram, he determined that she was not in heart failure and took her off the medication that Kate Marmash has put her on immediately because it was horrible for her kidneys. The damage had been done already because I had already given it to her for two weeks two times a day. She stopped eating, stopped barking, stopped wagging her tail...she was suffering. I stupidly took her back to Kate Marmash because the location was so convenient who did bloodwork for first time and gave the bad news that my dog was now in Kidney Failure and would probably die soon. She gave me the number of someone who would come put her to sleep at home. She said nothing could save her. (Her bedside manner is horrible.)\r \r Thank God we took her back to the specialist the next day who saved her life. She started eating again within a couple days, her kidney values are almost back to normal, and she now runs around the block again. \r \r NEVER USE THIS VET! I have never posted on a site like this before but am hoping to save another dog's life. more

The vet at this clinic refused to write my cat a prescription for his flea preventative to give to Petmeds. Clearly they just wanted to rip me off by forcing me to purchase their overly priced products. Staff is uncaring, not helpful and clearly dishonest. Other vets informed me that all vets are LEGALLY required to write prescriptions out for pets unless there is a legit medical reason for not doing so. My cat is healthy, current on his vaccines, etc. So I won't be using this vet in the future and will certainly NOT recommend anyone else to! more

WOW! I cannot believe the negative reviews. I have been going to Dr. Marmesh for about 18 years, and am thrilled such a vet exists (and that his daughter, Kate Marmesh, is his successor). We are so happy there that when we moved out of Dade County up to Hollywood, we have continued to make the trek down to the Grove for what we consider superior animal care (and this, despite being Hollywood residents, home of the famous HOllywood Animal Hospital). Being from an animal loving family of multiple pet owners, we have tried countless vets...but none have compared to Dr. Marmesh. Yes, he's somewhat aloof at times, but frankly, I don't go to my vet to discuss American Idol contestants. His diagnoses and treatments are typically right on, and when he doesn't have an answer, he admits to it and is not afraid or too insecure to suggest a trip to a higher tech animal hospital (which is rarely necessary...but admittedly, his clinic is on the no-frills side). And his prices are incredible--I've never been gauged the way I have been with other vets. He is honest, accurate, and has a passion for animal care that is unrivaled. His daughter Kate is following in his footsteps, thank God. I cannot say enough about this animal clinic. Don't go by those negative reviews-this is the best vet practice in South Florida. Zero professionalism - Do NOT recommend 4/4/2012

If I could give negative stars I would towards Dr. Marmesh (Senior) and his clinic - Coconut Grove Animal. ?I have been taking my two dogs there since they were pups. Now that I'm planning a trip to Germany with my dogs, I went there three months in advance to have them get their shots so that I can travel with them. Dr. Kate Marmesh assured me I was all set and said to come a few days prior to get the health certificates. Pros: null Cons: null more

Absolutely Rude and willing to let 2 kittens die!!!! 2/21/2012

So being a good person i took 2 new born kittens i found on the side of the road.. I took them here because other than being overly expensive i heard they were nice... Upon walking in i was greated by another pet owner and ignored by the vet on the phone,c another vet walked up and looked inside the box and said ( wow they are going to die unless someone feeds them and we cant do that here). At that point i was heartbroken and very sad!!! A lingeling vet tech was around as i grabbed my box with kitten and was walking out, i was so hurt that i said ' fuc* i am never bringing my dogs here again" mind you i said this in the street as i opened the door to my car and the vet tech proceded to star cursing at me and said never fuc*ng come here again!!! Are you kidding me? not only did you tell me to let the cats die but then you have miss personality representing your vet office!!! extremely rude!!!! Pros: null Cons: null more

Not friendly - does not stay current on procedures 2/11/2011

I had recently received a puppy and because of convenience took her there. The first visit I had a lot of questions and they were somewhat annoyed and really didn't take the time to answer. I went back and saw the daughter and had a good experience, she didn't rush, she was kind, and she answered my questions. With that I decided that I would keep going back and just ask for her. more

BAD service and care 2/26/2010

I?m going to start out with the worst of it? Pros: ??? Close to my house... Cons: Unfriendly & don't listen, charge to write prescriptions more

Good VET 9/1/2009

the doctor's are great and the office makes you feel homie/ welcomed. There pretty fast ,now the receptionist isn't very friendly. Pros: inexpensive great doctor's Cons: parking stinks, receptionist not so friendly/serious more

Brilliant Practice 1/14/2009

5 stars, Dr Marmesh has been treating my dogs and cats for 20 odd years, my Dad is a retired vet and was around animals and vets most of my life and as far as vets go he's no. 1 in my book. Extremely knowledgable and friendly, prices are more than reasonable. Pros: Location and staff Cons: are there any? more

So-So Service... Go if your financials are tight only. 9/22/2008

If you know what you need or are in tight financial services, this is a good place to go. I took both my cats there when I had just moved and had very little money. My old vet had told me exactly which shots and updates they needed and that is what they got for very reasonable prices.\r \r However, if your are treating a long term illness, or have a mystery illness DO NOT GO HERE. The vet takes the smallest amount of information possible and is NOT insterested in talking to his customers. My older cat is suffering from allergies, cause unknown. The owner of the clinic, who treated him, had ZERO interest in giving me help or options beyond a drug which my former vet told me was an absolute last resort. more

Great vet 11/28/2007

I had such a good experience here, I was surprised to see the other reviews. The vet and the technician were caring and sweet with my dog. They were pretty matter-of-fact, not overly fussy, which I think is a good thing in a vet. They took care of her right away, and the wait was very short, the price very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this clinic to everyone. Pros: Price, value, staff Cons: office hours more

Nightmare vet visit 3/27/2007

I have used this vet for shots and with a sick kitten. Pros: cheap Cons: uncaring and do not listen well more

Bad Place for nervous or finnicky pets...the staff seemed annoyed 3/20/2007

Very In and Out kind of place if the waiting time is not too bad. Its a walk-in clinic...which is easy if you are not on a tight schedule. I waited for roughly an hour before seeing the vet and tech for a quick 10 minute exam for my pooch. The Dr. is not very personable..like i said "in and out". This was my dog's first visit in the office and the dr. was not at all friendly with my dog ; or furthermore even interested in our presence in the office. This is a terrible place to bring your animal if they are at all skidish or nervous. My dog was a stray and along with that came intense nervousness around strangers and worst of all vet offices. The staff at this clinic seemed quite annoyed that my dog was scared and finnicky. I will never put my dog in the hands of an impatient staff again. Pros: walk-in Cons: impatient with finnicky animals...not too friendly more

Caring vet and staff 5/17/2006

Dr Marmesh is a caring patient vet. His strengths lie in not wasting the animal or owner's time and money. Pros: good staff, knowledgeable, patient Cons: closed for lunch more

GREAT FOR VACCINES; NOT FOR ILLNESS 4/17/2006

I would not entrust them with the care of my pet for a serious illness. My young cat became abruptly ill and the vet took a casual approach to her treatment. After 3 months, my cat continued to get worse so I sought a second opinion. The new vet was shocked that, given my cats rapidly deteriorating medical condition, my old vet had not recommended a neurological exam and a simple e-tube for temporary feeding - amongst other precautions - which would have increased her chances for survival. Id previously addressed, from my own research, all of these types of treatments with the vet but he was rather dismissive of them so I trusted his professional opinion and did not push a more aggressive approach. Honestly, I feel that my cat died in vain because I did not seek out a second opinion sooner - that statement says it all. Pros: walk-in, affordable, saturday hours Cons: not thorough, laid-back treatment, cursory explantions more
