I came to Salon Ziba for a New Year's updo based on the reviews I've seen on Citysearch. BIG MISTAKE. My stylist would not let me pick out what up-do I wanted. I told her multi...

Alaa at Ziba's the best stylist in NY. Seriously. 5/3/2011

Amazing experience from start to finish. Went to Ziba after a friend recommended it - I saw Alaa on the second floor. She was incredibly patient with my problem scalp and hair. She gave me the absolute perfect haircut for my face. She knows what she is doing, but always listens to your concerns. I have not been this satisfied with a haircut in a decade. I will follow Alaa anywhere, although I do hope for Salon Ziba's sake they hold on to her. more

Gil knows blondes! 2/13/2011

Attention all blondes... Finally, a hairdresser who knows what he's doing. Please, go to Gil if you want your blonde to look good. No oranges, no ""yellows"", no coppers, no brass, just blonde. In addition to his good work, he also is a very nice guy. He is easy to talk to and will pamper you! woo hoo! Also, the staff is very friendly there. Fun environment. Clean. more

Great Brazilian Keratin Treatment Experience 4/12/2010

So just had a BrazilianKeratin Treatment or Brazilian Blowout at Salon Ziba in Manhattan. Great process..here is the low down. Patricia has been with the salon for over 5 years and does about 10 treatments a week, so I felt very comfortable. First they washed my hair about 3 times to get it really clean and clear of any product. Then they apply a clear thin plastic mask over my face to protect my eyes from the product. The treatment is clear and gel like in texture and has really no smell. Patricia applied the product on in small little sections - a little goes a long way - directly onto my damp hair. After the product is applied she then blow dried my hair with a round brush to get it smooth and dry for the next essential step...the flat iron. Patricia then went in section by small section flat ironing my hair to seal in the treatment...this is the key. At this point you can touch it, and it is incredibly soft. Finally after all of this detailed work she washed my hair with a special shampoo and condition which she recommended I buy and then applied a small amount of leave in product from the same company. Once she finished washing and conditioning my hair she styled it the way I wanted...full, smooth large curls with side swept bangs...it looked great. The treatment will run you approximately $350-$500 depending on how long your hair is and then the products are on top of that about $20 each. Also, give your self about 3 hours from start to finish. All in all it was a very positive experience and I would definitely recommend you visiting Patricia at Ziba if you would like to try this revolutionary treatment. Pros: Experienced stylist and very patient Cons: A good 3 hours needed to finish more

WOW! AMAZING FIND! BEST HAIRCUT EVER!! 2/17/2010

JUST MOVED IN TO NYC, AND WAS LOOKING FOR NEW PLACE TO CUT HAIR. THIS PLACE CAME AS A RECOMMENDATION AFTER A BOTCHED JOB AT ANOTHER FAMOUS NYC SALON. WAS TREATED ROYALLY, FABULOUS SHIATSU-HAIR WASH, ALMOST FELL ASLEEP. THEN TO HAIR CUT/STYLE/BLOW DRY, I FOUND THE HOLY GRAIL, A GEM OF SALON. QUITE UNDER STATED YET GREAT VALUE FOR THE SERVICE. I HAVE SINCE RECOMMENDED SEVERAL OF MY FAMILY AND CO-WORKERS. I GUESS THAT YOU CAN BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ (ON BLOGS) UNTIL YOU EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF. Pros: EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE Cons: NO HAND LOTION IN RESTROOM -LOL more

What a disorganized mess 2/9/2010

The place is a dump with no order. The haircut was ok, but nothing better than the $20 haircut I get from my barber. more

Adrianna No Longer Works Here! 2/6/2010

I was a loyal Salon Ziba client with Adrianna as my stylist ... she's moved to Riccardo Maggiore salon on 57th Street and Lex and honestly, without Adrianna, the salon simply loses the edge it had on other salons in the area and in this price range. For a simply haircut, Elenora will do just fine but if you're looking high quality work beyond this, move to Riccardo Maggoire salon and ask for Adrianna! more

Good cuts, but bad customer service 3/14/2009

I am not a new customer for this salon and had been there for years. I always get a great cuts by the couple of Master Stylist on the 2nd Floor. They really worth the price. But for the girl that worked at the Front Desk. I am furious for what I had been experienced. Through out the years, I admit that there are time I arrived my appointment late. But there was one occasion I came late of the appointment. The white girl that worked on the 2nd floor said to me straight to my face that ""I am late. We will not taking appointment for you unless you leave your credit card number"" Throughout the years, I never heard of any cancellation policy of the salon and who did she think she is. I don't recalled she introduce herself. I knew the Manager in Ziba is a guy. That makes me so angry. Besides, I seen myself that most of the time, that girl is staring under the desk a lot of time instead of looking at the customer. There was a time that I was waiting for 20 minutes and it turns out the stylist is not busy. He was just in the staff room resting. And when I passing the desk, I see a blackberry was under the desk. So that explain what the girl is paying attention. That the two star deduction. Thanks to her, I decided to try some place else new. And it turns out pretty well. Anyone who read this review. Ziba still giving the good cuts. It just that my experience that makes me so mad and I am not going back there. Good luck. Pros: 2nd floor stylist are good Cons: rude front desk more

Brazilian Wax, Facials 2/28/2009

I had a great experience and I will never go to anyone else for my waxes. recently had a facial with her too and she left my skin smoothe and soooo clean. I am hooked this place great. Try Sofia she is amazing love her!!! Pros: Ambience, location more

HUGE FAN 2/23/2009

I have been a fan of this place for 3 years. It was my only type of relationship with a gay guy I have ever had. He was my hair stylist and he was grand. Unfortunately he was sick when I needed my haircut one day, and I moved onto a master stylist upstairs. Michelle has been my newest love for the past 2 years. I have only used two of their hairstylists and will never cheat on Salon Ziba. Pros: Everything Cons: nothing more

Adrianna is a gem! 12/5/2008

I had an important event to go to and since my regular stylist moved to LA, I had no idea who to go to. Since I live in the neighborhood, I decided to try Ziba and luckily was placed with Adrianna. I had a particular style in mind and was afraid that it might be too complicated but I had nothing to worry about since she did exactly what I asked for. She made me feel extremely comfortable, took the time to make sure that everything was absolutely prefect and made me feel like my 100% satisfaction was the most important thing for her. After I came out of the salon, two women on the street asked me where I got my hair done, which had never happened to me before. I have since gone back for highlights, trim and an updo, and each time she has done a phenomenal job. I have also send my sister-in-law who was in a major need of a makeover after her last child was born and now she looks 10 years younger (she?s 36) after Adrianna?s magic touch. You can tell that she takes her work very seriously as she herself is always very chic and sophisticated, which is not always the case with some of the others there. I am very happy with Adrianna?s work and very strongly recommend her. Pros: Adrianna, location more

Dependable 11/7/2008

I was in NYC from out of town and needed an 8 AM appt. to wash, dry, and style. I had asked for Felipe, based on reviews I read here. But when I got there, Carlos was my stylist. I feel Carlos was polite and well mannered. He did a great job on my hair when it came to the look -- he knows how to style. The only complaint I have about Carlos is that he got the dryer too close to my scalp, which made my scalp hurt for a couple of days. I should have said something but didn't -- I was afraid that I might create tension. But I should have said something. Also, I didn't like that the salon didn't keep my appointment with Felipe, but perhaps he was sick that day; I don't know. However, I am really grateful for the 8 AM appointment, as it made my day go smoothly. more

OKAY--THAT WAS A LITTLE HARSH 7/19/2008

I SHOULD NOT HAVE WRITTEN THAT REVIEW WHILE I WAS AGGRAVATED ABOUT ADRIANA'S POOR ATTITUDE. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE ENJOY HER ETC. SO, I AM WILLING TO CHALK IT UP TO THE OLD OIL AND WATER SAYING---- WE JUST DON'T MIX WELL. I WISH ADRIANA THE BEST- NO HARD FEELINGS. THANK YOU. Pros: SALON IS GENERALLY WORTH IT Cons: NEVER MIND more

Robert Thank You!!! 5/18/2008

After going around to some of the salons Colorist gave me a really crazy price 400-500 for one color, not even speaking about highlights, they explained that i have 4 different colors on my hair and it will be really big job to make just one color .My hair was really awful looking and needed some change desperately. Fortunately i met this girl in restaurant and her hair color was amazing, she told me about Salon Ziba, she advised me to go to Robert on the 2nd floor ,who colored her hair for many years . I had no choice!!! Pros: Experienced colorist, Good price!!!! Cons: Bad Light...Parking obviously.. more

BEST STYLE EVER 2/21/2008

I had been going to Salon Ziba about a year. As I worked around that area. I was first goes to the 1st floor and the haircut was so-so ok. And thereafter I have tried several other salon around neighborhood. None of them is making me happy. Until my co-worker recommended me to go back to Ziba and tried the 2nd Floor Stylist. She specifically told me just asked Eiko, the 2nd Floor stylist. True, she is pricier than the 1st floor stylist. But the service, the style she is giving to you is by far the best compare to other salon that charging you a sky high price because of not the stylist is experience. But because of their salon spent a fortune to built. I admit the salon is not looking the best in town. But after all, you are just staying in the salon for an hour or so. But you get the good haircut that last for month or more. more
