Highly Recommend 5/4/2012

I've been taking my son to CASL for about 2 years now. I highly recommend this practice. Susan Weber is one of the finest professionals I have met in this ""special needs"" services industry. The therapists we've worked with are all excellent, so kind and loving to the kids. This practice knows what they're doing--I've been impressed with the educational programs my son has been challenged with. He really loves going to speech and I can see why. more

Best Experience 1/4/2012

My husband & I were devastated after receiving a diagnosis of autism in our 1st child. The therapists at Capital Area have been kind, professional, and caring. They have served as an invaluable support system and the progress our child has made has been nothing short of miraculous. I can't imagine where we would be if we hadn't found them.\r We would highly recommend this group. more

Lousy Speech Services 8/24/2011

I really wanted this place to work out, and we continued going for over 2 months. The staff and services provided are just subpar. My daughter has autism, but when we went, we didn't have a diagnosis yet or even suspect it. The speech therapist never once mentioned to us that there seemed to be issues we should have evaluated. Every other therapist we have seen since then mentioned it to us. They committed insurance fraud, and trying to get payments fixed was a nightmare. I'm sure there are good STs there, but we never saw any. more

Great Speech Therapy 7/13/2009

I really enjoyed my time at Capital Area Speech! The staff was caring and nurturing and made a huge difference for my child. Susan Weber and Jamie Putnam, owners, took the time to work to meet my child's needs. Pros: Staff is caring and easy to work with Cons: None. more

Worst communication in office, and you have to be pro - active to find right therapist for your child. 11/20/2008

I have been taking my child here for awhile, and while there were many things I was not pleased with, I decided to continue to give it a try. Some of the therapists here are very good. However, you have to be proactive and find the right one for you. Generally, they will just assign you to a speech therapist based on availability. That is just the way they do it here. I disagree with this, because each child has different needs, and some speech therapists specialize in different things. So, while your child may need a certain therapist, it does not matter, because you will get assigned to whoever needs another client.\r Second...office communication is the worst. Are these people not making enough money that they cannot have someone answer the phones during any office hours?? Even if they set aside a time, of 2 hours each day, just to be available to answer calls, that would be nice. Your only bet is to leave a voicemail message, and then wait until they get back to you. Sometimes they do not, and it's up to you to continue to call. Third, I felt they were initially misleading, telling me that they believed my insurance would cover the therapy. I had told them the specific name, and they of course, admitted that they had other clients with the same insurance, and while they were difficult to insure, they made me believe that some of their other clients had gotten approval. The initial evaluation itself is a couple hundred, and I was told that would be covered as well. It was not. Upon speaking to my insurance, I have found that no one with my insurance has ever been approved for it, so I do not know what Capital Area Speech was talking about. I felt they were misleading, and just wanted me to get the initial evaluation done, no matter what. They would not give me any other information without having that initial evaluation done. Also, I felt that the person heading the office and owner, Susan, is quite snooty to deal with. I would not recommend this place. Pros: They do have a few people on staff who are competent speech therapists Cons: The place is not run well, office head is snooty, poor communication, expensive at 40.00 an hour more
