I wish I trusted MY doctor like I trust the doctors and staff at Westlake Animal Hospital. I'm one of those helicopter moms when it comes to my dogs - I fuss over them and always want to be sure they have the best care. I just wouldn't go anywhere else. I love Doctor Barbara Wentzel - she always takes time to answer my questions and is so kind and patient with my overly-indulged pup. Same for the staff - always kind, gentle and caring. Over the years I've had occasion to have my dog seen by pretty much all of the doctors here, and they've all been wonderful. I just wouldn't want to go anywhere else. more

Amazing! 8/6/2010

WLAH is definitely the best veterinarian clinic in Austin. Everyone on the staff takes excellent care of my 2 dogs every time I come in. They have you in a room immediately ( I have never waited in the waiting room) and meeting with a doctor within 10 minutes. Just about every veterinarian they have on staff has seen my dogs at one point and every one of them was extremely knowledgeable and took every question I had seriously. I highly recommend taking your pets here. more

Treats my 4-legged family like their 4-legged family 4/18/2010

We have been taking out pets to WLAH for a total of 17 years. They have happily accepted new members and guided us through the pain of losing our old girls. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Pros: Kind, honest, compassionate, not going anywhere, close to me Cons: a little pricey more

Nice people but WAY overpriced!! 1/26/2010

I have mixed feelings about this place. The prices are insane. If you take your pet in be prepared to spend over $200 a visit or more (mostly more) .... I've taken my pets in several times for a specific reason and left with a HUGE bill for ""tests"" they needed to run for some unknown reason. Communication in bad. Example: I took my pet in because he had runny stool for about three days. I figured they would just test a stool sample but they went ahead and rambled off all of these things they needed to ""test"" for bloodwork needed to be done (EVERY TIME YOU GO IN FOR ANYTHING!!) and several other tests. His tests were normal and they really couldn't find anything wrong but they charged me $400 for that which I felt was insane. Every time I take my animal in for anything the same thing happens. We wont be going back. I know they care about animals and are kind but their prices and the way they just rack up a bill isn't going to be tolerated by me anymore. Oh, and after paying $400 to not really know what was wrong with him, he came home covered in his own feces. Nice. Pros: nice staff Cons: INSANE PRICES/BAD COMMUNICATION more

Best staff I have ever had the pleasure of knowing! 11/5/2009

I have been bringing my pets and my boss's pets to Westlake animal hospital for 13 years. The staff have seen us through good and bad times with our beloved pets. Whenever I walk into this clinic I feel at home with friends. The times that I have had to put a pet to sleep there they were with open arms and tears. I love this clinic and all that work there. I would highly recommend Westlake Animal Hospital! Pros: Excellant pet care, clean facillity, grooming available Cons: They don't treat humans. more

VERY HAPPY WITH SERVICES 11/15/2008

I had the best visit on Thursday at this office....I was a nervous wreck about bringing my cat in, and they handled her so well.\r The assistant, and Dr. Rains were so sweet, and took their time with me and my pet. I never felt rushed, and we covered ALOT of information that I needed to know about what my cat was going through.\r They also made sure and explained what was truly neccessary - and what I could hold off on, since I was on a budget.--(very much appreciated that part)\r The assistant also called the next day to make sure my cat was handling her meds ok...\r I've finally found a great vet in my area, I would recommend this office anyday.\r Pros: Quality Service more

Pet Owners Beware 3/4/2008

Be very careful about using this facility for anything other than annual vaccinations. Aside from the expense, this practice falls very short on getting an accurate medical diagnosis on your pet. I have left with only huge bills (with procedures they did not even tell me they were doing) along with animals that do not get well. I have been passed to several different doctors all running up bills with no clear diagnosis. I was left wondering what on earth am I putting my pets through with their inability to agree, diagnose and treat. Do your pet a favor and find another vet! Cons: Very poor veterinarian care. more
