Nationally recognzed as one of the best bike shops in the country 5/28/2007

In an athletic town like Austin, you figure there has to be an over the top shop where the ""in the know"" cyclists and triathletes get their gear. Now that I've gotten to know the city, it's obvious to me that this is the one, and I?ve come to find it?s one of the best in the country. Pros: Experienced staff, free bike fit, best prices, packed with bikes/gear Cons: No Sachs Fifth Avenue decor more

customer service not up to par for the price you pay 4/18/2007

Let me begin by saying that I am not an avid cyclist(Although I do ride at least 2 times a week) and have not had my bike tuned up in 5 yrs. With that said I had taken my bike to Austin Tri Cyclist for a tune up and mentioned that the back tire kept going flat( I know how to change a flat and put in a tube) but I thought there might be something else wrong( bent rim etc), and that it was shifting horribly. About sixty dollars later the bike looked clean of all its gunk and looked good as knew. In three days the back tire was flat again, and it still was shifting bad. I waited to see if the gears would work itself out and the tire, I just inflated every day until I could get it changed. The more I thought about it the more I got a little upset, so I decided to take it back and let them know the problems. They changed the tire, and added a new chain. Another $48 later it still does not shift and we will see about the tire. A friend of mine went down to the Bicycle Sport shop on Barton springs and Lamar for a tune up, the guy told him to wait 10 mins, adjusted the chain and the shifting mechanism, charged 15 dollars and it works like new. I will bring all my business there from now on. It may not be local( I don't know for sure) but I would rather give my busines to someone who has more customer service than to a local business that does not! Pros: location and knowledge Cons: customer service and price more
