This is the place that all those new roadhouse-style burger joints wish they could be. It's genuine small-town Texas right here in Houston, without all the designer faux-antique signs all over the walls. The decor here is simple and honest: some UT paraphanalia, some deer antlers, a stuffed fish, a TV in the corner. For once, a restaurant in Houston that's not trying to be something. It just is what it is. (Isn't that why we all love Taqueria la Tapatia, too?)
Delicious burgers - right up there with PO's and Lankford Grocery. They're a bit smaller, but they taste as good if not better.
Walk in, and let life slow down. Let the city melt away for awhile. You'll be glad you did!
Pros: great food, friendly staff, genuine atmosphere
Cons: no credit/debit cards
