Hairstyles and color here are pretty good although not exceptional, and the prices are reasonable. As a word of warning, every single time I had an appointment I had to wait about...

Disrespectful and Rude! 12/10/2011

I had the worst experience at the salon. I waited for a long time for the esthetician and I finally left. The owner Terri is extremely rude and made up a story as to why I the esthetician was late and the receptionist Tara had an attitude when I called and complained. more

Great Salon 11/10/2010

I've only had great, friendly service at Strands so I am super surprised by any negative comments about the staff there. Terri does my waxing and she is quick and professional. Ever have that problem where the stylist gives you a great cut but you hate the way he/she blows it out after? Not here. Vince is the only person I'll go to for a blow dry and style that I know will look GREAT that day. He pays attention to the details. Everyone is very friendly when I walk in and everyone looks great--a sign that they care about their appearance and their client's appearance. more

Wedding Day Perfection 10/15/2010

For anyone who is looking for a salon to get their hair/makeup/nails/wax...they do it all...Strands is the best salon in the city. They made my wedding day so special by providing everything from champagne to bagels. Lauren and Vince made my dream hair style better than I could have even imagined. My bridesmaids left looking so gorgeous from the staff of people dedicated to my wedding party. Tara's make-up expertise are exquisite. Everyone left feeling like a Goddess. If you are looking for perfection on your wedding day...you should definitely go to Strands. more

best nail & haircut 6/24/2010

While in olde city for meetings i stumbled across this chic salon, I entered in i got a good vibe, with a hour to kill til my next appointment. A stunning women approached me and asked if she could help me, I told her what a beautiful salon. Is it possible for a haircut and a manicure she intoduced me to a stylist named vince so what the hell i sat down, never in my life did i receive such a great cut, the shampoo girl almost put me asleep with the massage. then i asked for my nails to be done the stunning women i found out later is the owner did my nails as vince cut my hair i was in heaven Pros: the owner she runs a tight ship there Cons: could not find any to mention more

Strands diamond in the rough 6/2/2010

The atmosphere is great as well as everyone being very friendly and helpful. I was able to pinch into Jimmy's schedule and thank god he he was there that first day. With a vague idea of what i wanted myself and no knowledge of any terms I tried to express what i wanted. Jimmy is a miracle worker to have deciphered what i was saying but he hit the nail on the head. i really wished i had read all the reviews on here before going to strands which is close to my apartment. i thought the service was rude and unprofessional. my hair cut and color were not what i asked for - i even brought pictures and was very specific. i don't want to mention the hair dresser b/c maybe they had an off day, but my biggest disappointment was the overall feel of the salon, snobbish without anyone being young, thin or gorgeous enough to even be a snob, lol! i sat with a wet head for about 10 minutes before getting blow dried...i would have left it hadn't been freezing out! good luck in your search, but trust me, avoid this place unless you are a glutton for punishment! I read about Strand on this website and didn't know what to expect. Most of the reviews were good some were not.I had the pleasure of Laura styling my hair. I can't tell you the wonderful work she did. The owner is not only friendly but made me feel like family. This salon is a keeper!! Pros: Friendly people Cons: Not open 24 hrs a day more

great place for an amazing cut and color 3/27/2009

i will say this i am new to the area, i am from bala, and i was checkin places out, and every time i would walk by this place if someone was out side they said hello, i must say that made up my mind i had to go in this little salon and chesk things out, well i couldnt be happier, i had my 1st old city cut and color with JENN , i must say she made me look hip, fresh and feeling great about myself!!! my color is perfect with my new hair cut, i couldnt be so happy!!!! i hope everyone finds out about her, well not too many, i still need to get in with this amazing artist!!!!, THANK YOU JENN Pros: late hours, prices!!!! i am a long time cleint of jenn's and found her at STRANDS, i will say at first i was a bit disappointed about her move , to OLD CITY, but i must say i had such a wonderful time at her new home everyone there is so friendly and welcoming i felt like i fit right in, unlike her old salon that was not so friendly, althought i was also nervous that the color line is different but she is an AMAZING COLORIST and worked her magic my hair has never looked so good, she is worth the travel! what the best part was that the price is right, low cost and you end up leaving looking like a star, and now in this time costs counts Pros: amazing color, the prices are right!!! Vince is a genius! I have been going to him for 3 years now. A friend of mine recommended him to me and I was skeptical at first. What did my friend know? My hair would tire anyone out, so much of it and with a mind of its own. But she insisted and I followed. Let me tell you. I have not regretted it one bit. He knows how to cut hair. Hands down the best in town. He made the mass of hair I had have movement and life. He spends so much time cutting, crafting layers and life into my hair. I have moved out of Philly and still travel back up to get his hair cuts. They last such a long time and he is conscious of that too. I cannot say enough about him. Everyone I have recommended to go has said the same. The salon is always bustling and hopping so be prepared to fold into the crowd. Pros: Talented staff, great atmosphere, great location, resonable prices Cons: Looking for parking if you are short on time. more

This was my first time at Strands. I thought the salon was ok but just not worth the price. I didn't like my hair cut that much and thought the service wasn't that good. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that's looking for ""professional"" results. Pros: In Old City Cons: not worth the price more
