The Mecca Restaurant is the oldest continually operating restaurant in NC. It is also fast, cheap, and a great place to people-watch. All kinds of people frequent this little hole-in-the-wall, from the mayor down to homeless folks. When you walk in, it looks small and dark. Well, it is. But just make your way down the narrow aisle til you find a booth or a barstool and loosen your belt a little bit. And make sure you leave room for dessert. They are all homemade and the selection always changes. Their cherry pie and pecan pies are the best! You can’t beat the prices here, or the friendly folks.
