Unique Tex Mex with professional staff 9/21/2005

This place is a genuinely fun experience. The setting is cheap and old with seemingly badly finished walls adorned with lots of old spanish influenced things, including a full bull's horns near the bar. But there is something that makes this even more than what you see; it's what you don't see. The dishes don't come from cans and the tortillas, tortilla chips, salsa, guacamole are trademark reason to dine with the Rio Grande as they are made fresh daily as well. They have their own tortilla machine near the bar that presses out hot and fluffy tortillas for each table. Staff attire is formal, pressed and starched with ties on both male and female servers. Meals average $12-20 dollars and signature dishes are made fresh on their mesquite grill. Parking structure is underground to the right and validation is available. more

Pretty good neighborhood Mexican 9/12/2005

I went to Rio Grande without knowing anything about it. I don't eat Mexican often, so I'm no expert, but the food was tasty and fresh. Supposedly they are known for their margaritas, and they didn't disappoint. However, the service was slow and though the staff was friendly, it took several requests to get things like soda refills. The menu was also a little on the pricey side and several things, like sour cream for fajitas, are a la carte. more

Bien! 6/29/2005

Not bad. I received a $50 gift card for this Tex Mex restaurant, so my husband and I decided to check it out. We were very pleased. Yummy nachos, delicious tacos, and awesome bean burritos. All in a friendly, fun environment. I would recommend this place if you are in the mood for an inexpensive, down-to-earth meal. We even had $15 left on the card after having drinks, dinner, and dessert! more

Go for the swirls! 6/28/2005

Rio is a great "neighborhood" mexican place. Can be a bit noisy but the food is great! They have everything from queso to nachos to frog legs! But don't expect a typical taco salad... for some reason they are lacking this. They do have what is called a swirl though which is a combo of frozen margarita and frozen sangria sqirled in a mug.... sooooo good and rather potent! more
