Jester Plaza has lost our recommendation 4/30/2012

We have used Jester Plaza for the last 5 years + as our main vet, doggie daycare and to board our dog. Over the last year or so we have noted some issues, primarily coinciding with new staff members who have joined the team. The newer members do not appear to know how to handle the animals, and then lay blame on yours for their lack of control. In addition, they've ""lost"" appointments previously booked, which if more than frustrating when you take off work and show up with your animal to find out they can't be seen. Even worse is there was NO apology, not even a small one. \r \r Also, when we would pick our dog up from being boarded or from doggie daycare, she would be covered in urine and would have to go straight to the bath. \r \r Dovie and Hubert, some of the long-standing staff members, are AMAZING, but the other members of their new team leave a lot to be desired. We spent on average $250-$300/month between food and services there and have been treated like we just walked in from the street. I'm so disgusted by this!\r \r We've switched to Molly's Mutthouse for doggie daycare and are amazied at their clean facility, professionalism and how they handle their animals. Jester Plaza was the only place we had our dog in daycare or boarded her, so we didn't know any different. It's clear that doggie daycare and boarding are just a side business for the vet and not their focus. \r \r We're also switching to Oak Forest Vet for our dog's care, and are very pleased. I remember seeing similar reviews like this years ago, and now I see where those people are coming from. What a shame. more

Do NOT board your dog at Jester Pet 2/7/2012

Do NOT board your dog at Jester Pet Plaza. My dog was stressed out this morning when my boyfriend picked him up. He wreaked of urine, and his bed is still soaking wet with pee and it's ruined ($80 bed and the only one he's ever liked!) they obviously didn't take him out to use the restroom enough as he is potty trained and has held his pee for over 24 hours before. Now his stomach is making crazy noises like he's going to be sick. I emailed them and have not received a response back. Very upset. He's stayed there twice before and never has he peed the bed. One of girls there is not very friendly either. more

Top notch organization 4/30/2010

I have used Jester Plaza Veterinary for over 10 years. Dr. Burda and his staff have provided excellent care for for my dogs and cats. There is no doubt that my animals would not have enjoyed the longevity and quality of life they have with out the level of care provided. As far as the price, JPVC is on par with other top notch Vets. Really, JPVC is top of the line. Pros: Caring and compassionate more

Best Vet in Houston 11/22/2009

Have been taking my pets (now up to 3 dogs & 2 cats)to JPVC & Dr. Burda for over 7 years. I started taking my pets there b/c the location was convenient... I keep taking my pets there b/c the service is great. Have had many pets & have tried other vets in Houston, as well as elsewhere in the US, & JPVC is easily the best vet that I've been to. Pricing has always seemed reasonable (I've been to more expensive places, as well as cheaper ones)... but you get what you pay for & JPVC is a great value. As for ""waiting times"", I have always been able to get an appt. quickly & I have NEVER had to even sit in the waiting area in the lobby... and their facility has 2 main exams rooms, so there's really a limited amount of waiting you can do once in the exam room (given that they can only really be seeing 1 other client at the same time). Highly recommend JPVC! Pros: Great vet, great staff, excellent facilities more

No loyality to long term customers 5/5/2009

I would not recommend this clinic for your dog unless your ok with paying out the a**. They have a great doggie day care great value. After a year and 1/2 of using them for doggie day care and need to utilize there vet services I was appalled how they treated me and my pet over the course of treatment. I paid the bill in full and told them I would not use the vet service but wanted to still utlize doggie day care they booted my dog to the curb. Very upsetting that this is how they do there clients that have never stiffed them on a bill. thanks guys! Pros: Front desk folks & doggie day care great! Cons: Over priced and no loyality more

Always get good care here. 6/25/2008

I happened to look on this site looking for Dr. Burda's phone number since I could not recall it/find the card, and read the reviews and just wanted to say I've been taking my cats to this clinic for more than 10 years and have never experienced anything but the most professional services and a lot of caring - they even call to see how my pet is doing when something is really wrong, make a special effort to get me in in the event of emergencies, everyone is friendly, I've never had an unreasonable wait, and never have I felt overcharged - in fact, compared to other facilities where I've had to go in an emergency, I think they are downright reasonable, and they have never ordered tests that were not necessary - sometimes I would even have encouraged more tests and they take the more conservative approach. They are friendly, caring/concerned and I would not hesitate to recommend them to others. In fact, once when I had an emergency in the middle of the night and had to go to the pet hospital, the vet there looked at the record and said, oh, Dr. Burda, he's a fine human being and a great vet, which I thought was pretty nice. Pros: Caring, responsible, professional, quality care Cons: None that I've seen in more than 10 years of going there more

Vet Clinic 3/7/2008

I took my dog koko in for a yearly exam. The lady at the front desk was very efficent and friendly, I think her name was Tish or Trish. I was fine with everything until I saw the vet. He said that koko needed all this tests for bloodwork. And my bill was outrageous. The total was around 300. I was okay with that as long as it was needed. Well come to find out I decided to go to another vet clinic and get a second opinon on the vet's plan for treatment. The second doctor I went too (at NW Freeway Vet Clinic) ensured me that there was nothing wrong with koko and while some of the lab work that was done was reccommened about 75% of the tests run were compeltely uneccessary. I feel kinda robbed. Also the wait times are agonizing. Other than that the clinic is in a good location. Prices are high! Pros: area, clean inside Cons: expensive, unneccessary costs on bills, waiting time more

Great experience! 3/3/2008

I had a great experience at Jester Vet clinic. I am a high school Biology teacher and when my classroom pet-rat got a tumor Dr. Burda did an excellent job of offering a lot of great advice and ultimately operating on her. Dr. Burda took his time and really explained the options we had for treating her tumor and did a great job caring for her. The staff was nice enough to take pictures so that I could use it as a learning experience for my class. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, especially Dr. Burda's wife who also works at the clinic. I would definately recommend this clinic to friends. Pros: Doctor, Staff, Location more

Extremely long wait, pricey 2/29/2008

The clinic was recentley moved and remodeled so it was nice. The service is below average. The lady at the front desk ignored me for about ten minutes while helping others. I had to make my way up front and tell her who i was. While in the waiting room a dog peed on the floor and the puddle was left there for about 15 minutes. My appointment was scheduled for 10:30 in the morning and I wasnt even seen by the veterinarian until 11:45. I was taken into the the exam room and then told the doctor would be in shortly. I sat there for what seemed like forever. I would have to say that while most of the staff in the back (the nurses) are kind and prompt, one of the girls was rude and ill-tempered. She rushed into the exam room, would not make eye contact with me while she was talking to me and was kind of rough with my pet. Which I do not apperciate. I will more than likely not be returning to this clinic which is extremely unforunate because it is located near me. Pros: location, parking, new clinic Cons: prices are too high, front office staff is rude and unorganized, dirty lobby, nurses dont seem to care about your needs, long waiting time for appointments more
