Best

I first read about Bukhara on ""Behind the Burner"" and watched a video with Divya - great stuff! Love the food.

Worst

Expected terrible service and high prices - that was confirmed quckly as waiter cared less about us. Food was a mixed bag. Naan tasted like it had been made hours before, ric...

Not worth it 1/21/2012

Not worth it! The food is pretty average (not bad) but the prices are too high. I am not a price sensitive customer - in fact I like to eat at an upscale place which serves good food. This one is an average place, and the wait staff just mills around. Too many waiters doing really nothing! The tables are crowded together, the menu tablet (yes, it is a big wooden tablet!) is too heavy, and table space is so limited that you have to keep holding it in your hand until the waiters come and take it back from you. We wanted to order the crab from the appetizer section, but the waiter told us it is crab from a can. Then he recommended the dahi papri - and after we ordered it from the menu, he brought the same dish to the table next to us and told them it is a complimentary appetizer. Not a great start for our dinner :) The other thing a reader may find useful to know (we wish we knew before going there) is that there is no street parking nearby, and right across from the restaurant is a parking facility that charges $30 an hour. So our two person dinner ended up costing us close to $180 (after you include parking charges for 2.5 hours). For that kind of money, this place is definitely not worth it. more

Class Act - Divine Dishes and Service 3/31/2010

Bukhara Grill honors the flavors and traditions of the North Indian region. The only reason we don't go more often is the pricing but the quality is fantastic. Pros: Fresh foods, flavors, vegetarian and non-veg options Cons: Prices, climb up the stairs to 2nd floor (not easy for all) more

Great Indian food 3/23/2010

I lived on 50th st, and wanted Indian one day so decided to check this place out. Food was amazing - I love Indian food and eat it quite regularly, but I can say this is one of the best I've had. Very ""normal Indian food"", but done really well. I have it a 4 instead of 5 because of the price (just chicken tikka masala - no bread of rice - is $25), which I would expect at a upscale Indian restaurant but this place doesn't have an upscale feel. Also, waiters try to push more food on you, like suggest things as if they are complimentary when they actually cost $. I don't appreciate places or people that try to drive up the bill without the patron's knowledge so that was a huge turnoff (more than the price). But if you're prepared to spend some $ and remember to ask if something they offer is complimentary, then this is the place to go for Indian food Pros: Food Cons: Price more

Best Indian Restaurant in the City 10/2/2009

Decor needs to be upgraded but the food is amazing! Pros: Amazing Paneer Dilruba more

Definitely Going Back! 4/13/2009

My wife and I met a few of our friends out for dinner and we decided to go for some Indian Food. I had been recommended this place by a few people and wanted to see why they loved this place so much. Pros: Great Food more

One of the BEST 2/17/2009

Bukhara Grill, the tagline says it all.. ""INDIAN SPICE RAVE"" Pros: Food and Service Cons: $$$ more

My First Indian Experience 11/25/2008

This is the first place I ever had Indian food to eat and it won me over. My company held a party in their party room upstairs and they had a great buffet with both veggie and non veggie options. Very nice decor for an Indian restaurant and excellent service. more

AWESOME 7/6/2008

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED BUKHARA GRILL. IT WAS MIND BLOWING AND A GREAT PLACE FOR FAMILY DINNERS. I THOUGHT THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN NY. THE DECOR WAS GREAT, THE SERVICE WAS AWESOME, AND THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC. EVERY WEEKEND WE COME HERE TO ENJOY THE DELICIOUS MOUTHWATERING FOOD. THE FOOD WAS FRESHLY MADE AND YOU COULD WATCH THE CHEFS COOK THROUGH A GLASS WINDOW. THE WATERFALL IN THE BACK WAS NICE AND THE WOODEN CHAIRS MADE IT EVEN BETTER. THE TERRACE UPSTAIRS WAS GREAT AND A NICE PLACE TO HAVE FOOD THERE ON A NICE DAY. THERE WAS A PRIVATE PARTY ROOM. IT REMINDED ME BEING BACK HOME IN INDIA. THE SPICES WERE RICH IN FLAVOR AND THE BAR AND SERVICE WERE TREMENDOUS. LAST TIME I WENT THERE WAS A CELEBRITY HAVING DINNER THERE. THEY HAD A SPECIAL DISH CALLED DAL BUKHARA THAT WAS TASTEFUL AND MOUTHWATERING JUST HOW IT LOOKED AND TASTED. THIS RESTAURANT WAS OUTSTANDING, MIND BLOWING, AND TREMENDOUS RESTAURANT EVER!!! GO BUKHARA AND I HOPE THAT HIS RESTAURANT STAYS FOR CENTURIES!!!!! WWWoOOOwWWW! Pros: EVERYTHING more

Terribly disappointing 7/2/2008

Watch out when you look at the menu prices. When the check comes and you ask why everything is so much more expensive, well, the menu's have the ""old prices."" What? Yes, the menu at the entrance and the menu that you'll order from has the ""old prices."" They won't budge and they will try to intimidate you if you argue with them. I eat out *all the time* and I can't ever remember being told after my meal that I'd been looking at ""old menu prices,"" surprise! Not cool! The food really isn't that good, there are much better Indian restaurants in New York City and there are certainly much more honest and ethical establishments. Pros: Convenient location Cons: dishonest business practices more

Tourist trap / overpriced - Food decent but nothing special 4/16/2008

Overpriced. The food was good, but nothing special. I can only assume from the neighborhood that this place is a tourist trap. There's not much else to say. The place was clean and the service was okay, but I expect these things at any place I eat. Pros: 1)I like Indian food 2)Country bear jamboree style menu's remind me of fond days at Chuck-E-Cheese Cons: Too expensive, not romantic, not special, bib's (go there and you'll see) more

What a TOURIST-TRAP! 4/15/2008

I love Indian food, but this place is without a doubt NOT worth its money. The entree prices seem okay (although pricy for Indian food), but you'll get charged an additional $7 for rice with some frozen peas in it, and $5 for some bread. If you ask for a beer, you'll immediately get a large one, and be charged another $11. Pros: The restrooms were clean Cons: Really bad value more

Fantastic Indian! 12/31/2007

This place has fantastice Indian food. The food is authentic and good. Drinks are okay, the garlic naan is excellent and comes out about 3X what a normal portion would be. The chicken Masala and Chicken vindaloo are great. Lamb varieties I wasn't as crazy about but then again I'm not that crazy about lamb. Everything fromt he waiter's garb to the copper cups scream authenticity and I love this place. The only thing is, do not sit in the front of the rest in the winter unless you would like to be a frozen over icicle. more

Very Good,and Very Authentic 8/24/2007

Bukhara Grill ( Indian Spice Rave) i have been dining at Bukhara for the past 5 years. Everything at BG is the best. I love the look of Bukhara, the wood look is beautiful. The service at Bukhara grill is very good and very helpful. The place is always packed but we always have great fast service. The food at Bukhara is to die for as it is just mouthwattering great. All the kababs and currie dishes are just awsome. I love eating the jumbo shrimps, mushrooms, and the lambchops. for dinner i love chicken makhani, dal bukhara, daibhangan, chicken vindaloo and much much more. Last year we had Bukhara grill cater my sisters wedding, The catering made the party as all our guest loved the food. Bukhara had many cusines at her wedding including Italian, Middle-Eastern, Chinese, and of course Indian. basically to me Bukhara grill is the best indian food out there. make reservations no matter what day you plan on going as they are always packed. and if you get sometime take pictures by the waterfall. Pros: food, service, everything Cons: its not by my house more

The Most Authenic Indian In NY 7/12/2007

Bukhara Grill is truly the Indian Spice Rave. Bukhara Grill is on of the most beautiful Indian Restaurant I have dined at. The wood decor is beautiful. A bunch of us went last week on Friday and it was packed. I would sugest making reservations. We did not make reservations and had to wait for a while but the hostess let us sit at the waterfall seating where we enjoyed some nice drinks. The waterfall seating was amazing as we took many pictures by it. We were taken up to the main dining room, the place was still paced. Our Waiter was very nice and helped us choose our apps. We orderd Hariyali chicken, mushrooms, mal mal kabab , Tandoori Shrimps, and lambchops all of them were verrry verrry goood so authentic. The Main Course was amazing as well as we had Chicken Makhani, Lamb Vindaloo,Kadai Paneer ,Kurkuri Bhindi and the famous Dal Bukhara along with bread. Everything was just awsome. the best indian food i have had. The Staff was very nice as the manager checked up on us and welcomed us and made us feel at home. I reccomened Bukhara Grill To Everyone as it truly is the most authentic Indian in the TriState Pros: Food,Service,Ambiance Cons: Parking more

Food? 3/23/2007

I had tried their lunch buffet a while ago & thought maybe this is a better place for dinner. because at lunch the quality of food was too poor, just because buffet is cheap, its not right to cut down on the quality completely, everything, all the curries, tasted so similar to me, it looked like it was the same orange red sauce that was used for the vegetables or for the meat, the breads took forever to come, after requesting for three times, thats absolutely rude, seems like they are trying to be everything, now I dont understand why on earth are they trying to make dosas & they were terrible? when its not their domain, Pros: thumbs down Cons: thumbs down more

Comprehensive and delicious buffet! 2/9/2007

First, my creds: My family is North Indian, and though I was never much for Indian food as a kid (maybe a result of my British-born mother's terrible cooking skills), but in the past 10 or so years, I've really grown to appreciate all kinds of Indian food, and I eat it at least once a week. Pros: Cheap lunch buffet, food, attentive staff, location Cons: Desserts more

Good Indian Stuff 12/22/2006

Courteous staff attends to all requests and provides more than average service. With prompt bar service, food was moderately spicy and delicious [Close to authentic Indian taste]. Pros: Rich menu more

First time 11/16/2006

Well this was the first time i went to Bukhara Grill, Ive been working in nyc for years and always heard my indian friends talking about it. So we all went to bukhara 10 days ago. The place was awsome never saw an indian place like this. I really liked the interior decoration with the wood furniture. We were greated by the hostess who was very sweet and took us up to the main dining room. The Place was packed( They Made Reservations so we were good) Our waiter was very down to earth person and helped me make decisions. The Apps were very good we had a chicken haryali , cottage cheese, mushroom, lamb chops Tandoori Shrimps , and they all were simply delicious, very tender and juicy. Main course we had tikka masala chicken, the lentils (Daal Bukhara i belive), okra, and lamb curry and breads. The food was just great i had a great time. The owners knew my friends so they especially came to meet us and ask if everything was fine. I told them it was my first time and i loved it. Pros: Food, Staff, Cons: parking took 30 mins but it was deff worth it more
