Broadway Pet Hospital Extremely Expensive/Inexperienced Vets 2/6/2008

I took my Cocker Spaniel to Broadway Pet Hospital for a bad case of kennel cough. The hospital did an x-ray, blood tests, flushed his ears and gave him medicine for his cough. The cost was $517. They then diagnosed a mass in his abdomen (which was found by chance on the x-ray). The vet, Dr. Thurm, did not even seem to know where the mass was located. In addition, she informed us that our dog's heart was okay. A week later the radiologist finally confirmed it was a splenic mass and also diagnosed heart disease (an enlarged heart), with a valve problem. The hosp. recommended immediate surgery for $2000-$2500 -- and said that an ultrasound might be useful, but they recommended just going forward with the surgery. We took our dog for a second opinion at Claremont Hosp. (a great vet on College Avenue). The vet (Dr. Frizzell) was immediately able to tell it was a splenic mass and that our dog had heart disease (from the same x-ray). He said the surgery would cost $700-$800 (not $2000-2500 as more

Not Pleased - Kitten still ill 11/24/2007

I took my 3 month old Bengal kitten here last Tuesday.\r I was told she had an upper respiratory infection and to give her medications (TWO!) for 7 days.\r She is still ill.\r While I was there they tried to push $300 worth of tests on me while explaining NOTHING to me.\r I got a ride from a friend and they would NOT look at me while explaining anything, they looked at her.\r Everything about MY kitten was asked or told to her. more

Great vets. Very experienced. 11/25/2005

I took my dog Freda here and the vets are very knowledgable, very friendly and thoroughly explain everything to you. My dog kept getting fatter and she ended up having a 10 pound tumor inside of her. They actually weighed it and let me see it. My dog is doing great and no tumors have grown back. I found the staff to be very friendly, they let you make monthly payments on your account or they have pet insurance. I highly recommend this office. PROS: Very professional and friendly staff. Highly recommend. CONS: It is alittle pricey but well worth it. more

Cold, impersonal 7/23/2005

I found this office and the staff to be cold and impersonal. They were a little rough and not entirely "delighted" with my kitten, the way other vets seem to be. They took him to the back without really explaining why or how long it would be. I felt uncomfortable and concerned and wouldn't go back here. On the plus side, the office is modern, if you like that sort of thing, and you can wait with your cat in privacy. Also, it is a pretty short wait. PROS: Not the most intimate CONS: fast more

Competant Vets 5/27/2005

Broadway Pet Hospital goes out of its way to make the owners feel comfortable. There are semi-enclosed waiting areas if you have an excitable pet plus free coffee (decaf and caf) for you to drink while you wait. The decor is relaxing and pretty hip for a vets office. The wait is generally short, often less than 10 minutes in the waiting room and waiting for the vet. The vetrenarians have always been efficient and gentle with my pets. Their prices are a bit on the high side, but they make up for it by not pushing unnecessary tests and treatments. Even though their basic prices are higher than those of the local chain vets, I generally end up spending less at Broadway Pet Hospital. PROS: relaxing, nice staff, gentle with pets CONS: slightly pricey more
