This company took over for the bankrupt Pure Med Spa. They sold me thousands of dollars worth of services and then closed their stores, I fought with them for a refund and then they went bankrupt. They re-opened as Brite Smile, Brite Skin a few months after bankruptcy. They offered to allow me to use the services I paid for, at one of their locations. The closest location was 100 miles from me and they were going to charge me extra money for each service...in addition to the $7,000.00 that I had already paid to Pure Med Spa. Just announced that they are closing 11/1/2008

Went to Yoga yesterday and they had a posting that they will be closing Nov 9th. This place was a really nice place to practice yoga so I am sad that they are closing. The instructors all found out the day before. Several people bought a pre-paid pass just this week which will not be honored when they close. more

Experience Not Great Anymore 9/9/2008

I was a huge fan of The Sanctuary. It was the calm in my day everyday. Then instructors started changing, things got inconsistent. I went on a trip and came back to a place with a different feeling. They were great. Not anymore in my book. Many students I know have stopped going and teachers are departing too. Too bad, this was a wonderful place. Oh. and their customer service is not great at all. more

Real Yoga on the East Side---Finally 11/3/2006

Finally, a studio on the East Side that offers all styles (hot yoga, vinyasa, hatha, detox, meditation etc.) of yoga and some really interesting workshops that help understand the true teachings of yoga. My favorite so far is Amber. She really knows her stuff but is still approachable and encouraging. They have showers and fair package prices and a spa next door that I hope to make it to soon. Most Amazing Yoga in the NorthWest!!! 6/19/2006

The yoga studio at the Sanctuary Spa and Yoga is beautiful. Every instructor I have encountered has been incredibley knowledgeable and supportive. The best thing about The Sanctuary is that they are the only studio that offers such a diverse schedule. They have Hot Yoga, Power Vinyasa in a heated room, more gentle Sanctuary hatha yoga for the days I don't feel like heat, Chanting and some really fun workshops that no other studios seem to be offering. Even better is that you can go next door to the spa after yoga for a real treat! Pros: Diverse schedule, amazing instructors more

Best Yoga in Redmond 6/18/2006

I love the Sanctuary. I think the staff is incredibly friendly, the massages are outstanding & the overall experience has always been a real treat for me. I also LOVE their Yoga program & think it is the best on the Eastside. I miss Roz, though...she did the best eyebrows in the whole Seattle metro area! more

Its hard to see where the other unfavorable reviews are coming from for this establishment. I was delighted with the quality of service i received and the Spa treaments are among the best I have ever received. Not only do I feel warm and comfortable when I am greeted at the door, but I leave with a sense of total satisfaction and calmess about me. It especially helps that I am not hounded into signing away my life savings for year long memberships. It sure is nice to have someplace i can go to relax every once in a while to get away from it all! Pros: Friendly receptionists, wonderful treatments Cons: can't think of any more

Best yoga spa in Redmond! 6/12/2006

An amazing spa retreat that has yoga classes as well! The Vichy shower body treatments are luxurious! I would also recommend a hot stone massage! It was a dreamy ritual-like experience with lots of extra bonuses! The stream of tranquility adds to the already calm ambience. I haven't felt that relaxed in years! Wonderful facial 3/27/2006

I got a facial at The Sanctuary and couldn't have been happier with my experience. I loved the complimentary steam shower and foot soak. The products they used were great and there was no pushy sales pitch to buy them. more

something happened to the sanctuary spa. i used to be a fairly regular customer, and then i found out that all the regular staff i liked had been fired, there was a change of management or something. whatever happened there, it wasnt good. after my bad experience i wont be returning. more

The Best Day Spa in Seattle 9/26/2005

I have always had the best experiences when I am at Sanctuary! Each time I go, it gets better and better. I just had the best facial I've ever had in my life and everyone there is so friendly, so helpful, they make me feel like a Queen. I just read one of the most recent reviews written here on citysearch about the spa and I don't know what that person was talking about. Maybe they were at the wrong place. Whatever has changed at Sanctuary....it is all for the better. It is the only place I will ever go and the only place I will ever send people, because I know they will be taken good care of. Save your time and money 9/19/2005

I was very disappointed to find out that all of the previous workers were fired and replaced with less qualified/professional workers. As a long time patron of this establishment I was disappointed with the level and quality of the services I received on my most recent visit. The new nail specialist is extremely nice, however she can not perform her duties. My pedicure was rushed and not performed accurately. The receptionist was awful, someone who is constantly yelling "HELLO" does not fit with a spa environment. Pros: Decor, Location, Hours Cons: Staff, Service performance more

When something is great, you shouldn't change it! 8/6/2005

I was a regular at Sanctuary: almost every other week. I loved the atmosphere, the therapists, the products--everything. Then the ownership changed. Not only did they fire almost every therapist, they completely changed the concept. It is now a "holistic" spa. I couldn't be more disappointed. I also heard about how some of the former therapists were let go, and it is atrocious that such good employees would be treated this way. I'm now looking for a new spa. Any suggestions are taken! I have been coming to the Sanctuary since it opened over 3 years ago - and there is something amiss lately. Not only have my appointments been wrong twice, the shelves are empty and I can not get my skincare products anymore. I have heard that the ownership is/has changed hands and if the way things have felt there lately is any indication of things to come - I won't be returning. Upon entering Sanctuary Spa in Redmond I felt very warm and invited! The atmosphere is VERY calm, quiet and relaxing. AMAZING!!! 5/4/2005

I count myself lucky to have had the pleasure to get a facial at the Sanctuary. My therapist was attentive, personable and knowledgable. Of all the spas I've patroned, this was by far the most comfortable and enjoyable. I especially enjoyed the cozy steam room and the foot bath. I have recommended the Sanctuary to my mom, my friends and even my boyfriend. It's a well-deserved vacation and worth every penny. more

Looks good, but not worth it... 4/13/2005

I have gone to spas all over the world and thought the Sanctuary may be worth a try. What a sad mistake! When my appointment was finally honored (took a few times for them to get the books right) I was sorry I went. The walls of the steam shower are slimy, the treatment was nothing great (definitely not worth $85...) and when I was finally able to go home my clothes went missing. The place is not big but it did take them half an hour to find my clothes... What a waste of a good looking environment! more

Come here for a quiet, relaxing retreat. You'd feel soothed right away by the serene atmosphere. There is a steam room which you can use before the treatment. more

    The Services
    Try the Turkish body scrub. As you lie beneath the Vichy shower, you'll be scrubbed down with a mineral-rich thermal salt followed by a heavenly, warm rinse. Afterward, a shower gel is applied by loofah and again followed with a rush of water from the many showerheads above you--all culminating in a soft, silky body. Extra care is taken to keep all the right parts covered and dry.
