Best

My boyfriend and I are fans of Bridgeport and have been for some time. This summer we took my father there when he was in town, and he made us promise we'd take him every time he ...

Worst

My husband and I went here during the weekday for happy hour this week: service was decent, beer was good (although he got the beer sampler and the labeling was totally incorrect ...

Bridgeport Experience 10/29/2003

I found the food to be over rated and over priced mediocre pizza. The service was terrible. I have never seen so many workers so miserable and unhappy in the beer industry. The only saving grace to the menu was the IPA. Generally, pretty good. But I recommend going across the river to Widmer or over to Portland Brewing. At least you can get a smile from someone in the waitstaff. more

Too hot inside 7/22/2003

Bridgeport has good beer but it's too hot inside to drink beer. There are only a few tables outdoor and so you need to find a table close to a fan, otherwise you will be sweaty after a while. more

best brewpub in portland 5/13/2003

empitome of portland. good pizza and awesome beer. really cool large buliding, ideal for groups and events. beautiful outdoors seating but the neighborhood is kind of smelly... Pros: good pizza, great beer, great for groups Cons: smelly neighborhood more

Pleasant port in a storm 1/10/2003

I've enjoyed both the beer and the pizza at this brewpub. I'll admit to not being a native of New York, which means my opinion as to the pizza will be viewed by some as suspect. But I've had crisp pies, with ample and tasty toppings. One caution: if you add the jalapenos as a topping, be prepared for a very spicy pie. Bridgeport is very generous with those peppers. The place could use a larger menu selection, for those few who were brought up wrong. more

awful & expensive 1/2/2003

as a pizza pie connoisseur, bridgeport's pizza has to be the worst i have had in a while - gummy crust & cheese, small slices, dried-out toppings and a fat price tag. don't bother... more

the pizza sucks 1/1/2003

bad pizza at high prices is what you get at bridgeport--the sandwiches are also very poor--it's a fun place to hang out and drink beer but skip the food more

It's the Beer Stupid 12/29/2002

The BBP is clearly the best brew pub in town. I assume voting for the food as a ten means the beer is of a high quality. Otherwise, the pizza is reasonably priced and great with a cask conditioned IPA. Pros: 2 blocks away is nice, Pearl anchor, available parking Cons: 1 block away is scary, Pearl anchor, puddles and parking more

This is the bottom of the barrel 12/5/2002

Rate this 1 -dead last-. High Prices, Cheap 14 day aged Ale is whats offered for ""quality"". If a 7 Day Ale were possible, it would be found here at the same inflated Prices. Ageing Malt Beverages 30-60 days is unknown here. The food, what little their is also pricy an only ""fair"" in quality, unlike its price, its nothing Special. U would do as well in a SafeWay Delli, not any worse. more

GREAT BEER 11/6/2002

This is a place to hang out with your pal's. Great pizza and beer. The service is weak and unfriendly. But again I am not there for the service, just to have a great beer and pizza and catch up with my friends after a good workout. : ) Pros: tasty pizza, beer tasting, room for parties Cons: no chicken wings, no chicken wings, service more

Be Fat & Happy! 9/24/2002

Great foods, excellent soups, (for both vegetarians and carnivores), and pizza by the slice that is cut in extra-large slices. Casual red brick-walls look and social atmosphere inside and outside on nice days! There should be at least a beer or two for any beer drinker there - ask for a taste and if you don't like it tell them why, they'll recommend a great beer for your taste buds. I love to go there for lunch or to grab something to eat as a pre-night out place to meet with people from out of town or with friends. AWESOME! Pros: Inexpensive, Relaxed Atmosphere Cons: Parking 12-1 sucks, Neighbor can be fishy more

not quite 9/16/2002

i really dig bridgeport; don't get me wrong. but i find it hard to think of ANY beer that tops mc menamin's HAMMERHEAD. that, alone, should have made it a higher choice on the list of ""portland bests"". more

Good Beer, Boring Atmosphere 9/6/2002

I am a huge fan of Bridgeport IPA and a big suporter of Oregon craft brewers, but there is absolutely nothing interesting about their brewpub. The food was average, the service was absent, there was no music playing, and the dining room looked like it needed a good cleaning. Pros: Good Beer Cons: No Ambience, Not Clean, Poor Customer Service more

pizza & beer is there anything better? 8/2/2002

Good pizza...Better beer. comfortable, simple a great palce to have a slice & a great brew more

This Place Rocks 8/2/2002

This place is really good. You should go there because it is good and good for friends and family. more

Hops and awe factor 7/31/2002

Drinking beer for enjoyment while visiting around the world always makes me glad I come home to Portland. As far as the USA goes, beer is better here. I rate Bridgeport as the best in Portland, primarily for me because of the great IPA. None better. They come close - but BP IPA is King. Food comes and goes, and as I can drink more beer is I eat less Pizza, I don;t go to the place for food. I rate BP over off NW Marshall as best IPA and best location. It would be a 10 if they could kill the bone meal factory that lets face it is a stinker. Be that as it may, loading dock with a good cigar late afternoon in late September is just sweet. Pros: IPA, Gold Medal specials, Wood beams Cons: Bone meal factory, Hipster doofus's, stale pretzels more

Great Beer & Pizza 7/18/2002

You can't go wrong with Bridgeport Brew Pub- the beer is fantastic and the pizza is really good. I go there with my fiancee and with groups of friends- best part is the ""no children section"". Although it is children friendly, none of the little buggers are allowed on the deck which is a glimmer of beauty with the hanging vines everywhere. Some of the best times I've had at dinner has been here- over some cask conditioned beer and a slice of pep. Simply perfect. Pros: BEER, PIZZA, BEER Cons: parking, rough road more

Old is good! 5/27/2002

Bridgeport Brew Pup is not only the best ale in town but also one of the best meeting places. Tucked away deep in The Pearl and established before The Pearl, BBP offers a true Portland micro experience. The dart boards are real (not electronic) and you can read any local paper you choose. One night a week foreign language groups meet to practice speaking in various languages. The staff is friendly and appreciates customers. BBP is truly a great escape...Tim Connelly Pros: Ale, building, location more

They Set The Standard A Long Time Ago 5/21/2002

And they maintain it relatively well. This is my favorite Bridgeport location. It's often crowded and parking can be interesting but it's worth the effort to sit outside and share a pitcher on a hot summer night. A slice of the Bridgeport pizza helps to round out your malt beverage experience. Pros: quality beer, low key crowd, great for big groups Cons: tough parking?, hard to find more

Love the location, great pizza 5/13/2002

Bridgeport sits in a lovely little industrial patch of Northwest Portland. Hop vines grow all over the building and everything feels very quaint. However, the narrow road just outside the pub is absolutely full of potholesdont even try parking there. The pizza is to-die-for and the home-crafted beer selection is great (look for the selections on nitro). A good place for large groups and dog owners (pooches on the patio, only). Good for kids before 8pm, of course. Pros: pizza, patio, good for dogs Cons: parking more
