In mid-May (05), I took my granddaughter to Dr. Brenman to treat her for a rash-like condition that covered her body. The doctor examined her and told me what it was and that he intended to treat it with a medicine that is derived from beetles. He explained that the fluid would cause the marks to blister, then break and scab over, eventually falling off. End of story, right. NOT! As the tech was ""dotting"" it on every lesion with a large swab, the doctor returned and noticed she was using way too much and to apply only half as much. The tech retrieved a large piece of gauze and proceed to wipe off the fluid. Using a circular motion, she wiped it off. Another tech came into the room and started re-applying the fluid, only in smaller amounts. She applied a few bandaids and then wrapped her upper torso with gauze. We made a follow up appointment for 6/6/05. By early evening, my granddaughter started crying and complaining of her arm stinging. When I disrobed her, I was literally appauled at what I saw. Grape-like sized blisters hanging in groups under her arm - some as big as my thumb. I removed the bandaids and her skin just peeled away. It was like this all over her body! She was screaming. I took her to the ER, and they sedated her and re-dressed her burns. She was given a RX for medicine to help her pain and help her sleep. Needless to say, we did not return for the follow up appointment.
