Best

For real, love this spot. Partied with some crazy work people and we will be going back for sure. Honestly one of my favorite bars in all of nyc. great atmosphere, great people.

Worst

We ordered drinks (stoli tonics) and got TONIC. We complained and got slighty better drinks, our second round the SAME thing happened. The crowd is a bunch of Carrie/Sex & City ...

Just What the Meat Packing District Should Be. 3/20/2008

This place could not be more perfect for the area. The Meat Packing District that is. Its the only "real" joint in the area besides Hectors Cafe. Great beer selection and also some of the best pub food in the area. . Fabulous Fish & Chips. Friendly and ON SITE owners. Attentive bartenders who remember who you are as long as you don't go in with attitude expecting VIP treatment. Something there is in abundance down here in the MPD on most nights. Its a shame that more places like this have not opened in this neighborhood instead of the generally overpriced and greatly over hyped - owner absent lounge / clubs. What is that - meaning a place in the neighborhood for the people IN the neighborhood. more

The only real bar in the Meatpacking district 8/18/2006

I've always thought the Meatpacking district of NYC was filled with people that were TCFS (too coo for school) and that really turned me off from that whole scene. I'd rather just put on some jeans and drink a beer, and now I've found the perfect spot in that area to do so! Brass Monkey is at the end of Little West 12th street, tucked away amongst the old meat packing companies. It's brick interior has a few tables and a long, spacious bar. Dancing in the back, and the music is always great. If you're not up for a super-posh club, this bar is well worth the trip downtown. more

Nice bar 9/27/2005

I was surprised to actually like this place. It's a good place to go and have a few drinks with friends (though DO NOT go on the weekend). It's a spacious bar and the burgers are pretty good. Even though the beer is a little expensiev, there is a good variety to choose from. Also, if you go and it seems super crowded, people tend to huddle towards the front, so jjust push through the crowd and go towards the back. Also if you are from Boston and feeling home sick this place may do they trick, though I am not really sure why. more

good crowd, gets hot 9/23/2005

There is a pretty large bar that runs along the side of the bar, so it is never too hard to get a drink, although they're a touch expensive, they're average for the area. The few times that I've gone, however, it's gotten really hot, so don't go in a sweater. There is a back room that is a little more spacious than the front and well-placed mirrors at least give it the illusion of not being so cramped. more

hit & run business 8/17/2005

Yet another addition to the glut of bar/clubs that’re taking over the Meat Market ‘hood. The food’s decent, but good luck getting the attention of any of the bartenders. Prices depend upon who you finally are able to order from, and nothing less than paper or plastic money qualifies as legal tender here. The scene is lame: unattractive out-of-towners and/or office parties. more

  • Though the bar's backdrop of glowing liquor bottles and exposed-brick walls is reminiscent of nearby see-and-be-seen spots, the relaxed, friendly pub vibe sets it apart. It's all wood, from floors...
