Best

Based on its long standing success and excellent reputation, I expected The Boulder Cork to excel in delivering classic steakhouse cuisine in an upscale environment. The tradition...

Worst

They have good steaks here, but the rest of the menu is mediocre at best. Salads, vegitables, and appeitizers are all below par. While the meat was good, it seems expensive given ...

Great Dining 2/16/2006

I have been to the Boulder Cork several times and I am never disappointed. In fact, I held my small intimate wedding reception in a private room there several years ago and it was very well done. Their varied items in their bread basket are the first thing to entice you when you are seated and it goes up from there. the waiters and waitresses are consistently courteous and pleasant. They show up when you want them and discreetly leave you alone when you are engaged in conversation. I tend to lean toward seafood and chicken dishes and these are always consistently good. the ambiance is earthy and comforting. more

Not your typical Boulder restaurant 7/17/2004

The Boulder Cork is not your typical Boulder restaurant. There were no beautiful people (except, perhaps, us). No one was wearing biking gear. Instead, there was a three generation family next to us, (quietly) celebrating grandma's birthday. We did not have a stunning twentysomething waitress in spandex. Instead, our waiter was over 60 and vaguely reminiscent of Louis Rukeyser. There was no chrome in the decor. This is your mama's steak house, and it was really nice for a change. The service was excellent: we always had what we needed and were never interrupted mid-sentence for the convenience of the staff. The waiter joked lightly with us but not intrusively. Water and bread were plentiful and the check was delivered right around the time we were done eating. I had the King Salmon special, which was cooked just as ordered and had a very nice fruity glaze, along with a tasty mushroom sauce. The mashed potatoes and broccoli flower were slightly dull, but there was plenty of sauce to perk them up. I wolfed down the pecan pie, which was lathered in whipped cream and ice cream. Maureen had a steak, and said it was nicely spiced/flavored as at Outback, but with more tender meat cooked just the way she likes it. The atmosphere was perfect for Baileys and Coffee, which is what she had for dessert. We left $105 lighter, including a 20% tip, and pre-dinner cocktails but no wine. Highly recommended if you want a good meal away from the usual Boulder scene. more
