My wife and I ate here on a Sunday afternoon about 4 pm. It was not busy so we did not have to wait to be seated. There were lots to chose from on the menu. The New England...

The chowder wasn't bad. Cole slaw was decent. The fried seafood platter that I had was something I could easily prepare for myself at home. Someone told me that the sushi is go...

Love this Place 5/22/2006

I went out to this place for the probably tenth time since its been open last night and as ussual I ran into the owner. I was telling him how much I loved his restaurant and how I have trouble deciding between the Grouper and the Coconut Shrimp. Anyway he said with the new menu they just came out with I coud get a small portion of both. Which I did. Then he told me about what was going on in this web site and asked me to write a real review as a customer. This place has a great vibe, it is warm and welcoming. The food is the best part. I can't speek for much other than the Grouper Tenders and the Coconut shrimp but they have been great everytime I have been there. Like I said, I have eaten there at least ten times so far. Pros: Grouper Tenders, Coconut Shrimp, Vibe Cons: Parking more

Judge for yourself 5/20/2006

I went the other night because I heard they had the Sox Games on. I went to Citysearch to get directions and I read some of the reviews. It was obvious reading some of the comments that someone has it out for this place. So I went to judge for myself. I tried the fish and chips and they were great, just like back home, the bartender said they have fresh Cod shipped in a few times a week. I tell you it was great and the sox won. I told the bartender about the reviews and he asked if I would right one, so here you are because I hate to see such a great place being trashed. All I can say is Judge for yourself. You wont be disappointed. Pros: nice atmosphere, alot of menu choices, non-smoking Cons: parking more

EXCELLANT DATE NIGHT OUT 5/9/2006

The food is excellant. We had the seafood skins and calamari to start, then moved on to great oysters. The outside seating on the patio made the night complete. Not too mention the food quality for the price was great. I would recommend this anytime someone wants a great dinner out. Pros: EXCELLANT FOOD, INEXPENSIVE more

Its About Time! 5/5/2006

Its about time we had a restaurant in Nashville that caters to us ""land locked"" folks. I'm from the coast and have always had access to fresh seafood. Although Nashville is not notorious for seafood, I can say that Batter'd & Fried is. My favorite menu item is the oysters on the half shell (when they are in season). I must have eaten 2-3 dozen myself one night. The soups are delicious and made with the perfect mix of ingredients. The batter on the seafood items is not too heavy and goes perfect with an ice-cold beer! Just sitting in the dining room or in the bar makes you feel like you are in a local Boston seafood house. The prices are good and the service is even better. Batter'd & Fried is turning out to be one of my favorite new hangouts! more

NEW ""CHEERS"" OF EAST NASHVILLE 5/1/2006

This restaurant has a great, comfortable feel to it. I have found myself staying for hours. Great place to meet with friends. Food is authentic, and i love the non-fried specials. The batter they use is way better then most places in nashville, and i don't feel like Im biting into a ball of grease when i eat it. I Like the crab cakes, fried pickles and i think their coleslaw is great. I have been recommending this place to all my friends, and with the addition of a patio right on the main drag its a great place to people watch. Pros: location, reasonably priced, great patio Cons: need more non fried, more app option, parking more

Batter'd and Microwaved? 4/13/2006

From top to bottom, the menu is a disappointment. I tried to give this place a chance (too many chances) because I like to see neighborhood businesses succeed, but this restaurant is shameful. I've tried about 50% of the menu entrees and all of them were tasteless, nothing like the New England style seafood houses that it tries to replicate. This restaurant is best for specialty dining. They usually run out of oysters early in the night, so if you get there early you can have a dozen and one of the nice bottle beers for a quick after-work dinner. Otherwise, you'll get the same taste in your grocer's freezer from microwave fish sticks. No kidding, folks. Pros: beer selection Cons: bland food more

This is NOT New England Sea Food 4/7/2006

I am from New England and I can tell you this was the most awful attempt at replicating good New England Seafood I have ever encountered. Better seafood can be found at your local fast food chain. The only seafood that had any flavor at all were the oysters, and sadly the taste was not a pleasent experience. The fried shrimp was flattened out and bland, the clam strips were soggy, had an odd texture, and were absolutely flavorless. The french fries were okay and we were grateful they came in a paper bag so we had a handy receptacle to discreetly dispose of the food that was just too awful to swallow. Cons: The Oysters, The Shrimp, The Clam Strips more

Great Little Seafood House! 3/18/2006

I've been to Batter'd & Fried twice now and I must say it is one of my favorite places in Nashville! When we first walked in we were expecting more of a bar rather than a pretty upscale restaurant, but we were pleasantly greeted by the owner and enjoyed a great night. Also, this is a SMOKE-FREE restaurant, which automatically makes it a winner in my book. Food is wonderful and fresh, service is great and its rather reasonable for 2 to dine ($30.00 after tip). I would highly recommend this restaurant, also it's sister bar ' Beyond The Edge' is right next door if you want to get more of the sports bar atmosphere after dinner. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: Lack O' Parking, No applesauce as side more
