THE best salmon around 6/15/2006

We had salmon at several places in the Seattle-Bellingham-Vancouver area while visiting, but the best hand-down was at Boss Tweed--they have it down pat how to cook it to perfection--grilling to sear in the juices to perfectly complement the fresh, wild salmon flavor. And it was CHEAP!!! more

Best Fish & Chips 12/16/2005

If you want deep fried seafood dirt cheap, head for Boss Tweed. My family of four can dine there for under $30. Boss Tweed is kind of unique in that you place and receive your order in fast-food fashion, but get it at dine-in speed. They don't cook it until you order it. Then you sit at a nice table or booth, wait for your name to be called, retrieve your food and condiments, and dig in. Staff come around periodically to bring you extra tartar sauce or bring you more of your all-you-can-eat cod dinner. The menu runs the gamut from fish & chips, other seafoods, bbq salmon (in season), to steak and burgers. The All You Can Eat special is usually $6.99 and generally we buy two, plus a meal for our picky eater. The youngest boy just eats off our plates, ensuring we get our money's worth! We really do enjoy Boss Tweed's eccentric style and flair. more

Good food fast 9/6/2005

This isn't like any other restaurant that you've been to. You order at a counter when you first walk in, get your drinks and then sit down and wait for your name to be called to "come and get it". They have a good selection of food from hamburgers to chicken strips to fish. The food is made quickly and most everything comes "plain" and there is a condiment bar where you can load up on whatever you want. The only downside is that the PA system that they have to call your order must be as old as the restaurant and sounds like a drive-thru speaker - half the time you can't hear what's being called because there is only one speaker for the entire restaurant, and the other half of the time you aren't sure what they've said (I swear they put their lips over the microphone when calling out the name) so when you give them a name, give some something unique like Frodo, because if you tell them Mike, you won't know if they've said Mike or Jeff. Believe it or not, Boss Tweed has a good breakfast menu and isn't as busy in the mornings as it is at night. If you go here on a Friday night, expect that seating will be hard to come by and you may have to wait in a long line just to place your order. Also be careful if you order the chicken strips...I think they cook it in the same oil as the fish sticks because it takes more like fish than chicken. Overall, though it's pretty good. more
