Borders - Books for the the Bourgeoisie 4/16/2006

Borders is a great place to read and to browse. They have an overpriced coffee shop in the store and they encourage customers to sample the music via headphones. However, when it comes to actually buying a book, you can do a lot better online. My recommendation is to stop by Borders to sample a book that you are interested in, I occasionally even sit and read an entire book there, but unless you plan on returning it after finishing it, don’t ever buy anything at Borders. It serves as a sort of yuppie library, and I realize that someone needs to buy something in order for it to stay in business, but it shouldn’t be you. Enjoy the books and the quiet, but pass on the purchase. more

A Nice, Friendly Place To Shop! 7/12/2005

The Border's located in Gaithersburg is divided into two levels. The first level is filled with fiction books and children's literature. Downstairs, a mixture of music, and education books for children and adults can be found. Light music usually plays to give the room a serene mood. Business is usually light, and therefore, not crowded. They also usually have many limited or hard-to-find books in stock. Everyone at Border's is helpful, although the hygiene of many of the staff members is questioned, and the books are rather expensive. Overall, this is a good place to shop at! more

Better than it looks from outside. 6/30/2005

This Borders bookstore looks small from the outside. It only occupies a not-so-big store front. You'd think that the store itself is probably very small inside, like a small independent bookstore. But once you go in, sure it doesn't look that big, but there is downstairs. In the back of the book store is a cafe, just like what other Borders have. The downstairs part consists mainly of the movies and music section. The selection is not so bad. I wouldn't say it's the same as other Borders in size, but I think it's adequate enough to hang out in there, especially at the cafe. The most recent addition I saw in the bookstore is that they added a pretty big section of graphic novels. Granted, it's a bit smaller than other Borders, but it has its own charm. more
