Don't bother, try Half Price or Paperback Plus 7/8/2012

I very seldom do this, but I have to write a review after our experience at The Book Rack today. I used to shop at this bookstore all the time when I lived in Pantego in 1999-2000. We visited the area today so I wanted to stop in. I had a few books in for trade, and my wife and two of our children came along. \r \r I searched high and low through this bookstore for something I wanted, or even something of value that I could trade for. Finally, I asked the man working there if he had any crime or mystery novels in a different section of the store, as I was looking for old stuff from the 50s or some of the Black Lizard reprints from the 1980s. He took me to a shelf of Mickey Spillane, John MacDonald, and Ellery Queen. When I told him I was looking for stuff that was a little more obscure, and tried to specify, he kind of sneered and said, "then maybe the Internet is your best bet." Well, yeah, and they're all expensive on the Internet, which is why I'm rummaging through your store hoping more

The original low-cost book store... 11/29/2005

The Book Rack has been doing business for years the way some "half priced" places do now. They are extremely customer friendly. I've found old paperbacks, new hardcovers, and the occasional rare printing among the shelves of this charming little book store. They buy books from you, albeit at a very reduced rate, but this allows you to take a stack in, and walk out with a few in hand. This model of book store has now become a national standard, but I prefer the small places where this practice started, like The Book Rack. more

Hard to find books 11/21/2005

If you don't mind used books- head over to the Book Rack. When I first use to go here- it was tiny and has expanded to a great book store. I find all those hard to find books here and 99% of the time they are still in very good shape. I also buy a lot of kids books here because they can be very expensive new. You can sell back the books the kids have out grown and get new ones for them to read. They have a great trade in program and you get a lot for the books you trade in. The staff is friendly and will hunt books down for you. more

Great used book store 11/3/2005

I used to spend a lot of time in this store when I was younger, buying used books, then bringing them back for credit. Their selection was always amazing, as I could find whole series of books available at the same time. Very friendly staff as well. I have yet to find an equivalent used bookstore now that I've moved but I always stop by the Book Rack when I'm visiting the Dallas-Fort Worth area. PROS: Great selection, great prices CONS: more
