Wow! Some pretty negative reviews 12/19/2011

Wow! Some pretty negative reviews here. Boly Welch in my experience is a terrific agency. Pat Welch place me in one of my first jobs in the legal field over 25 years ago. More recently, I am working with Gwen Butler on a new job search journey - Gwen is responsive, caring, and a terrific advocate. No dishonesty or non-disclosure here. more

Don't Waste Your Time 5/20/2011

Lies. Lots and lots of lies. No response. No calls. Nothing. Not only am I flat-out irritated at how they ignore a very capable and well-qualified candidate but even when I pursued certain positions that were listed on their site, I wasn't even given the courtesy of a call from the recruiter I initially met. I wouldn't give them the time of day now. I never thought of Boly Welch as ""exclusive"" but they apparently see themselves that way. Awful firm and one I'd now be sorry to see receive a profit from either a permanent or temporary position for me. Sure, the client is the one who pays their invoices but the candidates are the ones who make that possible. Whenever the opportunity arises, I intend to voice my experience and hopefully, others will as well. Eliteism isn't fashionable anymore. more

I'd use them again 6/2/2010

Boly Welch quickly found me a good permanent (not temp) job as a legal assistant in 2007 when I desperately needed one. The staff person I worked with was extremely polite, professional and helpful. I did have one discouraging experience with a prospective employer for a temp job who clearly wasn't comfortable hiring an attorney as a legal assistant and thought that could have been avoided by better clarifying his wishes or prepping me that he wasn't 100% comfortable but aside from that the next interview Boly set up went well and quickly resulted in a offer with market-rate pay and good benefits. more

Doesn't work 4/16/2010

Agency purports to be elite, but it nothing more than a temp agency. Remember, they work for themselves, not for you, and apparently not able to assist those seeking positions in any caring or hard-working manner to place you in the right fit, both for a company and for you. This place is laughable. more

Unprofessional 3/12/2010

If you're looking for a reputable, quality, respectable recruiter that will help you find that perfect career...THIS IS NOT IT! more

Another temp agency 2/6/2010

There are some hyperbolic reviews posted here, perhaps by employees themselves. Boly:Welch, based on their website and my interactions, attempt to present themselves as a very selective, elite agency. According to their website, if they don't respond to your inquiries, than you're not the right fit? In other words, be aware that we may totally ignore you. WTF? First of all, a temp agency depends on clients in order to sustain itself, why are they presenting themselves as if they're some kind of v.i.p. lounge with a dress code? What legitimate business doesn't respond to any and ALL inquiries (although in Portland, that seems to be perfectly acceptable)? Boly:Welch, despite the ridiculous name, is just a temp agency, located in a small, culturally backwards and exceedingly unsophisticated little town, and Boly:Welch's attempt to portray themselves as THE premier temp agency is laughable. From my very limited experience with tempt agencies, most of them pretty much suck, and Boly:Welch is no exception. Pros: Another temp agency Cons: Another temp agency more

UNPROFESSIONAL 9/27/2008

I called their office & requested an appointment to discuss my resume & their available opportunities. I am an accountant with an MBA & 20 years of experience. I spoke to Juanita who asked for resume to be emailed prior to scheduling a meeting. Well I emailed my resume and have left 5 voicemails for JUANITA with no response.\r \r Totally unprofessional and makes me wonder if all jobs they post are fictitious.\r \r I went to another agency and they got me a direct hire in 2 weeks.\r \r Juanita sucks!! more

Great Agency! 9/6/2008

I had been working in the legal field sporadically, with some pretty big gaps. I wasn?t really confident of my ability to jump back into the field. At Boly Welch, I was able to do tutorials on all sorts of word processing and other programs, bringing me up to speed with what law offices are using now. My resume wasn?t working for me either. I wasn?t getting interviews on my own at all. Boly Welch made suggestions on how to improve my resume and it made a huge difference! They also gave me some great interview tips. The biggest surprise to me, after visiting other agencies, was how everybody at Boly Welch, from the front desk, through all the recruiters and support staff, are patient and kind. That's definitely not the case at agencies I've worked with in the past. Other agencies tried to sell me on a job but at Boly Welch they weren't just looking to fill a spot somewhere. I felt they wanted to find a perfect fit just for me, somewhere I would be happy. I wasn't sure about temping but after doing it, I feel that it's a great way to get a feel for firm culture, expectations, work environment and future opportunities. I learned a lot about what I was most interested in from temping and it gave me ideas for what direction I wanted my career to take. It also gave me a great opportunity really shine and put my best foot forward, which can lead to a permanent offer. It did for me! I would highly recommend Boly Welch for both temp and temp-to-hire opportunities, as well as direct placement. I couldn't be happier in my new firm. Thank you Boly Welch! more

Caring and hard working....best place to begin your job search! 9/3/2008

I can't say enough about how wonderful Boly-Welch was to work with in my job search. I had rusty administrative skills and had been away from my professional field [architecture] for some time. They encouraged and coached me, gave me tutorials to beef up my Excell skills and were as excited as I was when a temporary offer came in with an engineering firm within one week. I have since been given permanent employment with this same firm, in my area of expertise, and within 5 miles of home. more

Wish they actually had relevent jobs... 7/22/2008

I am in accounting and have almost ten years of professional experience. After being with Boly:Welsh for several months, I had only one temporary job which was basically administrative. Any kind of potential job follow-up seems to be only on the shoulders of the employee. Perhaps it is just another sign of of our declining economy that mid-career accounting jobs are not readily available anymore, especially through staffing agencies. more

One of the better employment agencies 5/22/2006

While seeking work through an employment agency isn't most people's ideal employment situation, my experience with Boly Welch was overall positive. They were courteous and professional throughout my intake with them, and then sent me out to some interviews for excellent opportunities. I ended up in a temp-to-hire position, and was offered permanent employment within 2 weeks. They work with some great companies and employers. more

Very Boutique style agency, selective 9/18/2005

My first experience with them was quite strained b/c they actually turned me down. That was a first, being turned down from a temp agency (and i have years of admin experience and high computer skills!). But they're pretty selective and they focus on full time job placement and their clients are pretty selective. Longevity within the same field/title is one of the biggest criteria. Since most people like me have to jump around from job to job, it doesn't seem like the most realistic way to go. However, with persistence I got an appt. for temp assignments. They're pretty nice, but not really high $ jobs like some of the other agencies. more

they were extremely nice and defied expectation! 4/24/2005

The people at boly welch were both helpful and friendly, putting me at ease with the entire process of what i originally thought would be a temp-job search. Much more quickly than I would have expected, I was presented with the opportunity to interview for a full-time job, and even given some helpful pointers as to how to approach the interview. Perhaps this was sheer luck, as it would be totally silly to rule out the possibility that for the first time ever I was in the right place at the right time, but all possible luck aside, the people at boly welch were great~! more

Best in town ... 7/20/2004

I had great success with this agency. Pat Welch was not only warm and helpful, but extremely knowledgeable about the local job market. Both Pat and the staff at Boly Welch are an invaluable resource. I would highly recommend that any legal professional looking for a quality job in the Portland market begin their search here. more

Temp work 7/3/2002

Boly/Welch seems to be one of the better temp agencies in Portland. Good jobs for college students on summer break or people looking for general office work. more
