Czech restaurants in Chicago are about as formulaic as McDonalds chains. In each of the dozen or so Czech restaurants scattered in the western suburbs, you've got your mostly elderly clientele, a few Czech waitresses, traditional artwork, and an affordably priced menu that offers all the tradional favorites: breaded pork tenderloin, roast duck, svickova, fried cheese, goulash, and chicken paprika, among others. Bohemian Crystal doesn't offer much too beyond what you'd find elsewhere in terms of choice, but the food quality here is a step above what I've had at many others. The rare downside is that everytime I've had the soup at Bohemian Crystal, it was overcoooked and too salty. You might prefer the salad. Other than that, I loved most of the meat options, and the potato dumplings are the best in Chicago. Vegetarians can choose from options like fried cheese and fruit dumplings, but don't expect too much else. Save room for dessert (included in the bill with coffee), which is often fruit kolacke and strudel.
Pros: Spacious, well-decorated interior
Cons: A bit of a hike unless you live in the area
