i went for a facial today by jennifer. it was the most relaxed i have been in awhile...my skin looks and feels like new. she was very professional, yet personal...she truly cared that my facial was all it should be. i highly recommend the body cafe. they also offer lots of other services so it could be one stop for all your "pampering" needs. thanks jennifer! more

My husband got a spa package certificate to The Body Cafe for my birthday. This place is an amazing find! I felt at peace the moment I stepped through the door. It is so clean and inviting! Right away I was put at ease by the warm greeting of the receptionist. Then I was offered some coffee and was wisked away to my spa treatments. The atmosphere is so serene, and the staff is warm and wonderful. I didn't want to come home! I have gone back over and over again, ordering different things from the menu. I've had a massage, facial, waxing, tanning, mani and pedi, and hair services. I also got the best color and highlight of my life, thanks Cheri! I've been getting my hair colored for 17 years, so I know a thing or two about color. I haven't stopped getting compliments on my hair. My husband doesn't even ask what I want for my birthday, Christmas, Valentines, or our anniversary anymore. He knows I only want to go to "The Spa". Pros: Fantastic services and friendly staff. My wife bought me a gift card for Valentines Day to have my feet done. What was she trying to tell me??This is just not something I put on my list of things I wanted to before I die. At first, I was not sold because I thought it was just for women. Once I got there I felt right at home with the great service staff and very nice,clean environment. I was very pleased to have such a great welcoming where they asked me what I wanted to drink. My service was amazing ,I enjoyed every minute of it and i recommend this to anybody. I spoke to the receptionist and told them I like foil highlighted-Heavily, and she referred me to Wendy. I have had my hair pulled through the cap, I've had my hair orange and it was so called "Blonde", and the sytlist just sent me out looking that way UNTIL I finally found a stylist that could actually highlight my hair BLONDE! It was a great salon, I am so excited about looking over the menu and enjoying more services they offer at the spa! Pros: Saturday and evening appointments available! What words can I use to describe my experience at "The Body Cafe' " .....relaxing and wonderful come to mind. I love it everytime I have services! I have been a client of Cheri's for about 3 years.....she has a great disposition and work ethic. Always as I step out of The Body Cafe I always turn heads with my new hair, I am always pleased and feeling refreshed. This is mostly because of my wonderful hair stylist Laura whom is warm, welcoming and has true talent in cosmetology. My sister and I decided to get our mother a gift certificate to get a massage because she has been so stressed with work and us so i decided to go look around to see if I could find a warm, welcoming environment. When I walked into the Body Cafe I was greeted with a smile and the receptionist made me feel like top priority from the second I walked in the door. We got our mother an hour massage and she went the next week to have her service. When she came home she was all smiles and talked about how wonderful her therapist was and talked about her experience for an hour so I decided to go check it out. I made an appt to get my eyebrows waxed, and I tell you what to get something so simple done I was treated like I was paying top dollar. I came back to get my hair done because of my great service and the stylist were amazing and did a wonderful job, I get my hair colored alot and this was by far the best anyone has EVER done on my hair. I recieved compliments for weeks about my hair, (and I think my hair is what finally got me a date). I 100% recommend the Body Cafe to anyone, whether it be a massage, waxing, nail care, or a hair service they all do a WONDERFUL job! Super excited about this find...referred by a stranger whose hair I complemented!!! I also received a great cut and highlight. I went back and treated myself to a pedicure now that it is getting warmer and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my service and the professionalism and knowledge of their staff. I went to the body cafe today for a wax service. What I received was terrifying, embarrassing and demoralizing. I have been getting Brazilians for years and though I have a favorite girl where I moved from I have been to other spas. This was not my first time out of the gate with a new esthetician. I arrived on time and she was running behind, fine, these things happen. I asked her what type of wax she used and what her technique was like (since I know more than a little about this). She was using two kinds of wax which I have never heard a skilled esthetician do but after a short consideration I decided to trust her since she said this had been her career for several years. It soon became obvious; she just generally didn't know what she was doing. I was not offered a disposable panty which is usually customary for decency. She ended up waxing over the same places (in very sensitive areas) 4+ times. Instead of pulling of the wax in one smooth motion she pulled and stopped, and pulled and stopped and even pulled with the hair. BIG NO NO! When I asked if that was normal she told me it was fine with that kind of wax to go over the same area as many times as neccessary. This and other things she said were frighteningly inaccurate. I called it quits after 45 min (she was halfway though) when she pulled out scissors and attempted to cut away the wax. SCISSORS!!!! The front desk tried to have me pay the full amount. Without being too graphic about what had just transpired I informed then that I would compensate her for her effort (which was more than she deserved) but nothing more. I cried for a half hour the pain was so bad. DO NOT DO THIS. more

i highly recommend this salon and day spa it is cozy and clean. this is an all around great place with a wonderful haircut, massage, tanning system, and nail care. i can't wait to go back. Pros: great service Cons: nothing more

I have just recently moved to the triangle, so trying to find a new hairstylist is always stressful. After looking through citysearch I thought I would try The Body Cafe in Durham,NC. After arriving I was pleasantly surprised the spa was small and cozy. The receptionist Jessica was great. She offered me a beverage and asked me to have a seat. I had an appointment with Laura. After introducing herself she welcomed me back to her room ,which I thought was just great. We had a lengthy consultation , which made me feel a lot better. The fact that she asked questions about what I was looking for, how I styled my hair,etc. She was very down to earth didn't make me feel pressure to do a style I didn't want or could not duplicate back at home. I felt like she really cared about my hair. Also, no pressure to buy products.Which I loved!!!! She mentioned a couple and then let me decide. Laura is a great hairstylist and I think The Body Cafe is great. I can't wait to go back!!!!! more

When I heard that Cheri, the original owner of The Body Cafe, had returned as owner ? I couldn?t wait to make an appointment! Cheri is an extremely talented hair dresser and I love the privacy of the individual rooms in the salon. My appointment ran on time and I enjoyed a wonderful pedicure while enjoying a complementary bottle of cold diet coke. Cheri provides professionalism and relaxation to the atmosphere. My first experience here was back in 2000, I came to get my hair done for my wedding. The girl did a beautiful job, the place was very nice and I was pleased. It is under new management now and I visited twice more about a year ago. I booked a massage and the massage was so great I decided to go for a special they were having for a free cut with color. I went back with the stylist (who 1/2 way through the color informed me she was training) to a filthy room in the back that had food wrappers and newspapers everywhere. I searched for a cosmetology licesnse, which she didn't posses. I was overcharged and not given the special I had mentioned when I booked the appointment and told it was because I had not printed the offer from the website and brought it in. I explained I had seen it on the back of a prices sheet I received from them at my massage visit. I was treated VERY rudely by desk staff which was later defended b/c they were "new". I was told that was "too bad". I got a credit after a week of calling and asking to speak to managers that were never "in" and leaving unreturned messages. I just had a wonderful experience during my once a month massage treat. The therapist are great, especially Tonya, who gave the best Deep Tissue massage. Immediately I was greeted, offered beverages, and I did not have to wait for my massage. I heard that the business recently went through management changes, I'm looking forward to the new layout changes that are going to take place but the quality of the service has always been great. I received a gift certificate for a prenatal massage so I used it recently. Worst massage I've ever received in my life (whether pregnant or not). She took me 10 minutes late, ended my massage 10 minutes early and felt like she was taking all her stress out on me (and I generally like firm pressure). Absolutely no ambience at all, no music, no fluffy robes to change into, etc. She did not appear to know anything about prenatal massage either as she has me lie flat on my back for 40 minutes (which is a huge no-no when 25 weeks pregnant)! There is NO WAY I could ever recommend this place, nor would I ever return even if given another gifit certificate! more

Out of the hundreds of massages Ive received in my life, Id never gotten up mid-way through, until my experience here. My massage therapist admitted to being very tired once I was on her table, and her work was very sub-par. After I repeatedly requested more pressure, (she assured me she knew deep tissue massage) I finally gave up, and ended the massage half way through. Certainly, everyone has an off day. Unfortunately, despite my complaints to the management, I was still charged for my time on the table. After explaining the situation further, the manager assured me there was something in the mail for me to make up for the poor service. Nothing ever came even after I followed up. Im all for supporting local businesses, and have been to the Body Cafe many times, but Ill not return here. Disregard for the customer is unacceptable. Pros: great concept Cons: poor follow up more
