Bluegrass gets 5 stars for how they treat the animals; 1 star for how they handle complaints. Here?s an example.\r \r I?m a repeat boarding customer for BG. I board my dog for 7 days while I am on vacation. I drive for 9 hours miles back from the beach and get my dog at 6 PM. At 9:30 there is bloody diarrhea on my dining room carpet (the stain won?t come out). At 11:30 it happens in the bedroom. I confine the dog in the kitchen on a tile floor. At 12:30 it happens again. It is as bad as the first two combined. I don?t worry about diarrhea, but blood is another matter. At 2 AM we are at the Emergency Animal Clinic. That costs over $200. By 9 AM the dog has had a total of 10 sizeable bloody diarrhea stools - four of them between 4AM and 9AM. \r \r I call BG to see what help they can offer. I get this from the owner: ?It is stress diarrhea, we didn?t cause it. Besides, you signed an agreement that we are not responsible. People are always looking for someone to blame. (I only told them what happened, I never said they caused it.) I don?t know what you want (because she never gave me a chance to suggest anything). Here are some tips on what to feed him.? \r \r I take the dog to my vet. He gets more IV fluids and some special i/d food. That?s another $100. My $200 boarding bill ends up costing me $500 and BG isn?t responsible. Fine. You don?t get a ?Like? on Facebook for that. You could have said: ?I hear you are worried about your dog. Bring him in and we?ll check him for free and we?ll give you some i/d for him.? How hard would that have been? I could have suggested it if the lady had given me half a chance. Instead I got to hear about her woes. Maybe she was having a bad day. My dog sure had a bad night and mine wasn?t much better. The good news ? the dog is fine. more

Always there for my dogs 9/23/2010

A few days ago, on a Saturday my dog, Buzz couldn't stand or walk...it was Saturday around 12:00...I immedietely call Dr. Moser and she told me to bring him in...even though the clinic was getting ready to close...not only did she stay to care for my boy she also kept staff to assist her...she also waited while I went to get his food as he is on a special diet...she treated Buzz with love and respect as well as helped to calm me down...she assured me her staff would be in later that day to check on him and would notify her if he got worse..On Sunday she went in to specifically check on him even though it was not her weekend to check on the sick dogs...she phoned me while she was there and assured me he was fine and was responding to the medications and cage rest...he stayed for 4 nights...when I went to pick him up they had even bathed him as they knew I would not be able to until he was able to walk and stand on his own...the cost of treatment was more than reasonable and my boy responded well to the treatment...Not only was the medical treatment successful the staff treated him like he was one of their own...and reassured me each time I called and visted...I was afraid the bill for 4 nights plus treatment would break me...suprisingly it did not...even if it had been higher I would have been glad to pay whatever for the quality of care and service Dr. Moser and her staff provided for my dog on n emergency basis AND on the weekend when they were to have been closing...My dogs are 'My Children" and I will never let anyone but Bluegrass care for them!!! I have and will continue to refer folks with pets they love to Bluegrass!!! more

Patient Veterinarian and Reasonable Prices 9/22/2010

I took my two cats in for their vaccines and exams. Dr. Newman was very nice and thorough. She discovered one of my cats has a heart murmur and advised me of what to do next. Everyone on staff greeted me and my cats while we were at the hospital. Dr. Newman answered my questions and was very patient with my less than happy kitties. I feel that the prices for the exam and vaccines was very reasonable, especially since they received the vet's undivided attention. I really like Bluegrass and have had nothing but good experiences with their staff and services. more

Poor Experiences/Questionable Service/Very Costly 8/16/2010

Went to Bluegrass for several years & spent LOADS of money--high charges for services. Ignored dog's dental health, even though brought up concern over & over - just sold me expensive products. Cleaned teeth once & did a poor job. Since leaving there dog has lost half of his teeth & will lose more probably. Just let them rot, while telling me there was not a problem. Other dog had bladder infections nearly every time checked & was living on antibiotics. Once left there dog quit having continual bladder infections - had one in 1.5 years. Refuses to give you the X-rays you paid for so that another vet can compare changes when new vet redoes the X-rays. Prices were very expensive. Have a friend who also left because of high charges. more

Busy and great! 7/13/2010

I really like Bluegrass Animal Hospital. The staff is nice, the hospital is clean and my pets always come home from boarding tired and happy. It is a busy clinic, so sometimes it may take a few minutes to check in or out, but busy is a good sign in my opinion! Pros: Great staff and care Cons: Can't think of any more

love animals? yes. love their wallet more? OH YES 6/6/2010

amazed that someone can have so much compassion for animals and so little for human beings....... Pros: clean facility and overall a caring staff more

Wouldn't take my pet any where else 3/2/2010

BAD FOR YOU PET!!! AND YOUR WALLET 6/5/2009

Been using this place for over a year and today was the end! My dog has left sick every time we board him there,They charge me for things that they never tell you they are going to do. Paid $200.00 today to get my sick dog back when i just took him there to board. I was also 30 min late to picking him up and was charged for a full night because that's how the computer figures it I was told. I spent several thousand dollars there and they didn't flinch to loose my business over $20.00. If you are a man they are rude to you! If you don't mind being talked rude to and being charged for things you didn't request then this is your place. Cons: SICK PET more

Awesome, caring services 10/6/2008

We have been bringing our bulldog puppy to see Dr. Moser since the day after we brought her home. Dr. Moser is very knowledgable and down to earth, and her love of animals is apparent. The staff is professional and showers our puppy with affection every tme we come in. Whenever we take her to the vet, instead of whining and pouting, our dog is actually excited! She loves them! Everyone, from the front office staff to the groomers are professional and caring. It shows that they love what they do. I love the resident animals, the cats and dogs that roam freely throughout the clinic. I feel very lucky that we stumbled upon Bluegrass on accident. We had no idea who to take her to, and chose this clinic by driving by. The facilities are very accomodating. And, Dr. Moser is very knowledgeable about the bulldog breeds, being an owner of bulldogs herself. We feel that they take exceptional care of our dog. Pros: caring, knowledgeable, honest Cons: none more

Fantastic staff and service 5/29/2008

I have taken my little yorkie here since I first got her as a puppy. Bluegrass has always been fantastic to deal with, and they were great when treating my little dog for coccidia. Well worth a little extra money for the great care and support that you get. Pros: Fantastic staff, easy to get in and out, and treated my dog like their own more

Well trained Vets & loving, caring staff 7/14/2007

I had 2 dogs that have been cared for a BAH, and treated with the best care possible. I had never had my dogs kenneled before BAH, and they loved going there. I would always tell them they were going to the "spa". One of our dogs survived cancer for 5 years, I believe due to the wonderful care at BAH. Dr. Moser was always researching or contacting other professionals regarding the latest treatment for our dog. When he finally passed away the staff was so kind and compassionate and a donation was made to UT Veterinary Research Hospital in my dog's memory. Our second dog lived to be 15 years old and became sick very suddenly, and again Dr. Moser, Dr. Ward, Dr. Outland and Dr. Neuman all worked together to try and figure out why she was getting sick so suddenly. While they couldn't save her, they were able to give me the information and resources I needed to make her as comfortable as possible. Again a donation was made to UT in her honor. As far as cost for services, we have had to spend a lot of money on a chronically ill dog and I believe that BAH was very competetive in their cost for services.I also have 2 children and the staff are always patient with my boys and allow them to come pet Football, the Hospital dog. I keep commenting to all my friends that I get treated better by my dogs Vet than I do my own Doctor. We now have a new puppy and hopefully he will never have to go anywhere else for treatment. Pros: Great staff, my dogs loved it! Cons: none more

Wouldn?t trust anyone else... 1/10/2007

Wouldn?t trust anyone else with the health of our pets. Bluegrass Animal Hospital, particularly Dr. Cristi Moser, has been taking care of our pets (2 dogs, 2 cats) for the last 4 years. Dr. Moser is an exceptional veterinarian and a talented surgeon. One of our dogs needed a unique eye surgery and Dr. Moser completed it perfectly. Cons: None more

Caring staff, clean facilities, resonable prices, compassionate vets 12/28/2006

I was extremely impressed by the staff and services I recieved. My dogs boarded over the holidays and they didn't want to come home. The kennel staff knew all about my dogs and how much they enjoyed playing fetch. My dogs needed vaccinations during their stay and the veterinarian who examined them was very thorough and kind. I highly recommend Bluegrass Animal Hospital. Pros: kind staff and clean kennels more
