I have been to quite a few tattoo studios, and I can say I was impressed from the first time I stepped into the Blue Door. That was some four years ago now, and I have had work done there eight times since then. There are other good artists out there, but at this point I wouldn't get ink anywhere else. Sister Bear is the owner and senior artist, and she sets an extremely high standard. The setting is casual and friendly but at all times professional. Sis and her staff are knowledgeable and very talented, and the work that comes out of that shop is top-notch. Sis believes that an artist should know the history and science behind tattooing, to the point of making their own inks and build their own guns, and her apprentices must learn these skills before ever touching a needle to skin. Of course, cleanliness and sterility are without question.
And what is it that matters but the finished product? Simply said, the art is second to none and I dare say I would be hard-pressed to find someone who could reproduce some of the original tattoos that I have. There are other excellent artists, of course, but I have actually had some say that they could not touch Sis' work. She has been doing this for something like 25 years and really knows her stuff.
And if what you are looking for is more along the line of permanent cosmetics, come on down because Sis does that extensively. Lips, eyeliner, areolas... you will be happy with the work.
There are other services available as well, such as piercing and massage, but I haven't used those myself.
It is obvious that I am sold on the Blue Door. There is a reason for that, and that is the experiences I have had there.
Pros: Skill and professionalism.
Cons: Not always right on time...
