I have been taking my dog to this place for several years (since 2000) and they have on many occasions given him what I felt was un necessary test costing hundreds of dollars but ...

Fantastic Doctors, Wonderful People 6/30/2011

I have been a client of Blue Cross's for over 30 years. They have cared for at least a dozen of my pets - cats and dogs - in that time. Their knowledge, resourcefulness, and compassion are simply unparalleled. Not having been to another vet, I can't comment on their prices relative to others, but I can say even if they are more expensive, you get what you pay for. All 3 of the doctors - Dr. Lowenthal, Dr. Walters, and Dr. Jones - are each wonderful in their own way and, together, form a top-notch team. The earlier comments that claim price-gouging or hidden fees are clearly not paying attention to what prices are being quoted to them - perhaps due to the emotional nature of having a four-legged friend who is sick and in need of medical attention. The team at Blue Cross has always been upfront and forthright about what treatments and medicine costs. Perhaps you could do better on price, but I just can't imagine doing better with the quality of care. more

I have been going to Blue Cross Pet Hospital since I moved to the Valley\r more than 28 years ago. Everyone there has been absolutley excellent. The girls upfront, the techs and the Doctors have always given me the most amazing service. There have been very difficult times when I had to put my dog and cat down -- but fabulous times when the Doctors (Dr. Jones and Dr. Walters) gave me the good news\r that my cat, Boomer was cancer free after under going chemo which practically put me in the looney bin. They were always there with a good word and great medical advice. more

Five Stars to Blue Cross 1/5/2011

5 stars to Blue Cross Pet Hospital! They have been our personal vet for over 15 years and the last 7 we have been a kitten rescue and have come to REALLY get to know them. If you want the best in care for your pet, Blue Cross is the place to go. The doctors are highly skilled and care about the animals. They approach a sick patient with gentleness but firm professional skill. The vet techs are better than some vets I've met and the office staff are helpful and courteous. I've watched them handled the sometimes extremely difficult owners with patience and empathy. more

They abused a child and his puppy - STAY AWAY! 10/4/2010

When a 10 year old boy brought in his parvo puppy for treatment, they tried to charge him and his family close to $1000 - they would not even look at the puppy or start treatment without hundreds of dollars up front. When we explained we did not have that much, the cruelty got worse and worse. more

controversial reviews 3/29/2010

The reviews are either one star or five stars. Interesting.\r \r Most of my experiences here have been very positive. The techs are very caring. I like Dr. Paula Jones the best as a vet. She's very professional & compassionate. She saved the life of a senior cat who was in dire straights that I'd just been advised to put down by a vet at a different hospital. The cat lived another 2-3 years or so.\r \r All the people who work there are human, and I'm sure mistakes are made, However, a lady I know who has rescued hundreds of animals takes her dogs there exclusively. The prices are on the high side, but they give you an estimate and you can elect what you want to have done or not. If you want to buy meds elsewhere, you are free to do so. \r \r Anytime I've lost a pet, I've brought it to them for cremation, and they send cards and notes of sympathy. Overall, I find the care very good. more

Nightmare Vet!!!! 3/9/2010

I had a nightmare of experiences with Dr. Lowenthal in the last few days of my dogs life. He prescribed medication and never told me about the side effects which in-turn led me overfeed my dog, having her become really ill and finally having me to put her to sleep. When my dog died I had ask Dr. Lowenthal to take back two cases of very expensive dog food and give me a refund. At first he said no...then said he'd give me credit. Credit for what... my dog was dead. He is a none compassionate man,to busy to pay close attention and request you get many more test then need... and they aren't cheap. I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy more

Great Vet 1/10/2010

I've been taking my cat here for 10 years. Now I take my new puppy too! They do the best they can for the animals. I saw one review on here said they only cared about the money. Well, I have experienced the complete opposite. My cat has hyperthyroidism. The vet I see the most, Dr. Lowenthal, was away the day I had to take my cat for a regular visit and we saw another temporary vet there. This vet was suggesting a treatment called Radioactive Iodine Treatment which does work for some animals. This treatment is expensive. Dr. Lowenthal called me the next day and wanted to make sure that I knew all the pros and cons about the treatement and he felt it wasn't really right for my cat at this time. If they were all about the money then he would have told me to get that treatment done. Also, the fact that he was reading my cats chart when he hadn't treated her that day shows the dedication they have for their clients. My cat is 12 years old and thriving thanks to Blue Cross. Pros: Always do the best they can for your animal. Cons: Pet costs anywhere are expensive even with pet insurance more

The only place for my pets 1/6/2010

I have been taking my pets to Blue Cross Pet Hospital for about ten years now. I have had to go there for a variety of reasons, ranging from regular check ups for my dogs, their yearly shots, and just this last weekend for an emergency with my bull dog, Bubba. Bubba managed to get out of our front yard, and was hit by a car. We rushed him to Blue Cross Pet Hospital on Sunday, and Dr. Jones and her wonderful staff sprang into action. Bubba needed X-rays and to stay in the hospital. Dr. Jones and her assistant spent so much time with me, explaining everything that needed to be taken care of, answering all of my questions, but most importantly they took EXCELLENT care of Bubba. I am happy to say Bubba is home resting with me now, and I know that this is only possible because of Dr. Jones and her caring staff! Thank you Dr. Jones !!! Pros: Great doctors: Great staff more

The Best Pet Hospital Out There 3/11/2009

I've been taking my dog to Blue Cross Pet Hospital since we moved to California in 1993, and I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. In fact, in 2002 we moved to Agoura Hills, and I still drive more than 25 miles to take my dog here because of the amazing care given. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I never have to wait long and the vets there put my dog at ease, and take great care of him. Sadly, a few months ago we had to bring in my 17-year-old dog to be put to sleep. Dr. Lowenthal took the time and care to explain to my kids what he was going to do and why it was the right thing to do. Of course, it was sad, but he made it as painless an experience as possible. About a week ago we finally broke down and got a new puppy. She was a rescue dog and I wanted to have her thoroughly checked out. So without hesitation I drove her the 25 miles and will continue to do because I know she will get the best care at Blue Cross pet Hospital. more

STAY AWAY 2/23/2009

DO NOT COME TO THIS PET HOSPITAL! ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY, MONEY AND MORE MONEY. MY DOG WAS REALLY SICK AND I TOOK HIM THERE BECAUSE IT WAS CLOSE TO MY HOUSE AND THEY WROTE ME AN ESTIMATE FOR OVER 2,000 DOLLARS! I WENT TO ANOTHER LOCAL VET AND THEY DID THE SAME THING FOR LESS THAN 300 DOLLARS AND HE IS RUNNING AROUND HAPPIER THAN EVER. THE DOCTORS DONT CARE ANYTHING ABOUT YOU OR THE PETS, THEY GET IMPATIENT WITH YOU WHEN YOU DECLINE THINGS THEY WANT TO DO, AND ONCE THEY REALIZE YOU CANT AFFORD CERTIAN THINGS THEY WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU! STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE MONEY LOVING PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: had a lot of brochures and good hours Cons: everything! more

never go back 2/18/2009

This animal hospital is so bad, I feel really bad took my dogs there.\r I was only plan let my dogs have shots, but thoes people there kept saying they have to run more tests, and after that, the anwser I got was, my dogs are perfectly healthy. And they charged so much, they even wanted to collect the poop, I don't understand at all, their business must be so bad, that's why they want to run so many tests to make some stupid money.\r Please don't let them talk you into those stupid tests, it's totally not worthy. more

Super staff! Your pet will be very well treated here! 1/28/2009

My kitty received excellent care; came home in a very ""zen"" mood. Wonderful people that love animals. more

My beloved Kacey 11/19/2008

I have been taking all my animals to Blue Cross Pet Hospital for over 20 years and have been so comforted by their staff and doctors. Dr. Nahmi Jones has been my pets doctor and her kindness and professionalism is fantastic. She has always been more than kind as is her staff.\r \r I feel that all my animals have been taken care of with compassion and I have highly recommended many family and friends to them and will continue to do so.\r \r My beloved cocker spaniel Kacey had many medical issues and over the years, Dr. Jones was always there to assist us, she took care of my Kacey throughout her whole life (17 years) and was there when we made the heartbreaking decision to finally put her at rest. The compassion she and her staff showed me is something that I will never forget.\r \r I will continue to bring my pets to Dr. Jones and Blue Cross and would again recommend to all pet lovers that I know. more

NEVER AGAIN! 11/7/2008

I have had my cocker spaniel for 2 years. I have spent over $5000 in stupid tests that were not even nessesary over the last 2 years. This last thing that sent me over the edge was that I took him in because he had a tender spot on his back. Doctor checkes him out and right away told me that he needed his lashes lazered out, teeth cleaned, xrayed for his back, ear problem, and quoted me $1400! I only got the x ray and the ear dropps, that alone way $500. They also prescribed me a type of doggie vicodent to where my dog had to be left in a kennel for a month because if he had any sort of activity he would become paralized. I got the xray results and the Doc said that he was just fine nothing was broken or hurt. 2 weeks later I took him to the groomers. The groomer told me that my dog had back pain and the reason his back hurt was because he had a skin infection. So, there was no reason for the x ray or the crazy dog vicodent. The groomer which is not a vet I might add was the one that t more

The only hospital for my babies 10/22/2008

At one point in time we had one dog and three cats (all strays) and are now left with our 18 year old kitty. When Keri, our dog, was diagnosed with cancer Dr. Lowenthal & Dr. Jones gave us our options. Thanks to the excellent care given by Drs. Lowenthal & Jones, and the compassion given by the amazing staff at this hospital, Keri's cancer went into remission for almost two good years! When the cancer did come back, the hospital staff was supportive in our decision not to do anything "extreme" but we did opt to see that she was comfortable. Keri passed away two years ago in her sleep at home on Thanksgiving Day! I was able to get in touch with Dr. Lowenthal that morning (very early on a holiday) who said he would meet me at the hospital and not to worry....Long story made short, how many vets do you know would take the time on a family holiday to help deal with a pet that passed in the night?!!? Dr. Jones helped ensure that when the time came to say good bye to two of the kittys ( more

Horrible experience! 9/22/2008

The service at this hospital is terrible..my cat fell ill and I took her in for treatment. They admitted her, ran all kinds of tests and promised me to have the lab results the next morning. The next day, the results did not come. The excuse, the lab works slowly on the weekend! the doctor even seemed bothered that I asked questions about the procedure. My cat died the following day under their treatment while still waiting for the results. I must say that they were very prompt in calling me to give me my bill(which was in the thousands of dollars). I dont blame them for my cats illness, but a more diligent response could have helped us to find a treatment plan. I will never know. I wish you luck if you go there. Pros: parking is good Cons: Poor service more

Cruel 5/22/2008

I was looking for the best help for my puppy when i went to them. They cared nothing about my pet or me, only the money i could spend at their hospital. They ran test and gave me no results, when my puppy was dying in my arms, something they could have avoided, The doctor sent me off to a cheaper location. We spent so much money there and for nothing. They could have saved my puppy when he still had more of a fighting chance. He has Parvovirus and is currently hospitalized somewhere where money did not overcome the well being of an innocent animal. So would i recommend this place to anyone? Only is you care nothing about the well being of your pet. Pros: Many brochures to read. Cons: Everything else. more

Best Veternarian Service in Los Angeles 5/7/2008

We have been a client of Blue Cross Pet Hospital since 1995. In the year 2000, we have moved from the Valley area. I still make the commute to have my pets seen and cared for by Blue Cross. \r \r The service is unbeatable! I get post card updates in the mail for each of my pets when vaccinations and/or office calls are due. I get follow up treatment calls from previously performed corrective proceedures. No matter what time or day that I may call the staff is always courteous, caring and concerned with all of my pets needs. \r \r The prices are fair. Blue Cross accecpts all major credit cards and personal checks. They also offer cash discounts for those costly emergency and/or surgical proceedures. \r \r I recommend this veternarian office/clinic to anyone. Keep the good work up!!!\r \r Stephen and Latina Smith\r Los Angeles Pros: Lots of parking available Cons: none. more

I very highly recommend Blue Cross Pet Hospital to all who take animal health care seriously.
