This was my 1st time at the Cafe. It will certainly be my last. We sat upstairs (this is significant) and were a party of six. The service was some of the poorest I have ever experienced. Our server came around occasionally to ask if every thing was ok. You didn't have to be a rocket scientist to see everything was not ok. We ordered several items from the tapas menu. All but one showed up at the same time. We were told it was dropped in the stairway on it's way up. It did eventually show up. Next came the entrees. Five showed up. As I said we were a party of six. Again we were told that one was dropped in the stairwell on the way up. Really? I may not be the smartest guy in the world but even I had to call BS on that one.The entrees were mediocre at best. The last entree showed up after the rest of us had finished our meals. It just seemed like the staff couldn't have cared less. It was also quite warm in the restaurant and when we questioned our wondering waitress, we were told that on nights like this (were there is a breeze) the owner doesn't allow the air conditioner to be turned on. Again Really? Finally we asked for the manager or the owner. A delightful young man named Matt showed up. Besides the company I was with he turned out to be the only highlight of the evening. In his defence he did get the air conditioning turned on and did comp us our desserts ( not the coffee) and the late entree.Absolute worst dinning expereince I have had in South Florida. Don't waste your time with this one. more

I had eaten here several years ago and remembered it being a great experience, time has not been their friend. I will start by saying the place has character and great ambiance....but thats about all Bizaare Ave Cafe has going for it. To begin, we waited 15 minutes before our server came over to greet us. Since we had so much time we had decided on the bottle of wine and appetizer (baked brie). The server kept trying to walk away before I could get the app/wine order in. It took another 10 minutes to get our wine and glasses of water. After becoming slightly agitated the server returned with our bottle (at least the booze arrived) and proceeded to break the cork in half. Really??? I wouldn't call this place high end but opening a wine bottle successfully should be a requirement of any establishment that serves wine! Needless to say, there were cork remains in my glass. Shortly after the wine arrived our appetizer came. The baked brie had strawberry jam dumped on top which I was not a fan of. Overall I did enjoy the app. Before i get into the entrees I would like to add that my first wine bottle selection was not available as well as my first entree choice of the ny strip. Out came the entrees. I had gotten the pork loin, my girlfriend chose penne with vodka sauce. The penne as good but nothing impressive...I could and have cooked penne with vodka sauce that was on par with this dish. Definitely not worth the $18 or $19 it cost. The pork loin was a complete mess! The spinach that it was stuffed with almost looked like stoffers creamed spinach, the baked apples on top seemed canned and the pork was completely overcooked....or it could have been cooked at five oclock and sat waiting in a heating tray until I ordered it at 9pm. My side was garlic mashed potatoes which I'm pretty sure were microwaved...reminded me of a tv dinner. The cost of the dish is $26....you could cook the same dish better for yourself and three friends for $26 and not get cork in your wine! Overall, I would love to love this place due to ambiance and the menu sounds damn good but in reality the "chef" has no idea what he/she is doing and the service was terrible. I would try again to see if I just happened along on a bad night but after seeing these reviews I think I will pass. more

I used to love this restaurant. I was very excited to come here because it had been a while. After tonights experience I will not be returning. The service was terrible! Our food did arrive in a timely manner however, we did not see our waitress for the next 30 minutes. The food was by good at all. The chicken was rubbery and the risotto was soupy. The pumpkin ravioli was cold and poorly executed as a dish. When we finally got up to flag down our waitress after waiting 30 mins and complained about the food and service she asked why we didn't tell her the food was bad. When we said it was because she hadnt been back she denied it. The management refused to discount our check even though the food was not eaten. They said we could get another dish but after the terrible quality of the food already received we were not interested in anything else they had to offer. I was very disappointed because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Needless to say, I won't be returning. more

bizaare indeed! what should have been a good meal and decent service was ruined by a crazy woman claiming to be the owner. i can't believe it to be true, though. no one in their right business mind would run a restaraunt like this. loud, rude, overbearing and she had her dog- yes, an animal in a restaraunt- ON THE TABLE! where is the health department? disgusting. will not go back after that scene. more

I'm a longtime resident of LW and used to Love going to Bizaare, mostly on Fridays. Chef John is a great chef, the menu has something for everyone and he prepares them with care. The only reason I don't visit any longer is the manager. She is rude, unfriendly and has driven away customers and staff. I used to spend my money their happily each week, until the negative vibe from the manager (Deborah) pushed me and my friends to go elsewhere. She's even made snide remarks overhearing my conversation with a friend. She should stick to bookkeeping and find someone friendly to turn this place around. Unti this changes, i won't be visiting again soon. more

We visited Bizarre Ave for my brother's birthday dinner. We have visited several times before and enjoyed the food and ambience. \r My brother was excited for the dinner due to the main attraction of a free birthday meal. He had filled out the paperwork earlier that week for his free birthday meal and made a reservation for 15 people. \r The night started off bad as they had no record of his reservation. We just had to wait some more time for them to scramble and set it up. \r We finally sit down and get to enjoy the company and food. Everything was fine until we got the check. \r Okay, I understand the challenge of separate checks. We had asked the server at the beginning if that would be okay prior to ordering, considering the size of the party. He said not a problem. My brother and his girlfriend get the check, he gets charged for his dinner. The server then explains he didn't mention he was getting the free birthday dinner at the beginning. Okay, we ask for the manager. The owner comes over and explains loudly that she would have to void each check to cover his discount, it would equate to $1 to $2 discount on each check. Really? The option given was to wait 45 minutes for them to go through that process. What an option! Common sense dictates you would just void his check and apply the discount to him. She also goes on to give some lame excuse of having to input the birthday paperwork my brother filled out in the system. That due to some people's handwriting, sometimes she inputs the email address incorrect and the person may not get notified by email they need to bring the certificate you receive in email. "It happens all the time." What a lousy excuse. The owner was just rude and unprofessional in the way she handled the scenario. My brother just brought you 15 people to your business. A majority of them had never been there before. She would have lost out on what, $26 on a $500 plus check. I will give them this much, they ended up writing on a business card that they will give my brother a free dinner next time with the order of 2 other dinners. I had read other reviews where they had not honored south florida dines purchases, I didn't think anything of it until this experience. We will see if they actually honor the discount for my brother. Again, we have visited here several times before. Based on the way the owner handled the scenario, we won't be coming back and definitely won't be recommending. more

Terrible!!! No need to be eloquent or wordy . . . Terrible service. Over priced. Two separate dishes came out cold. Food was only OK at best. Portions of the dessert were pathetically small. Don't bother. more

So my wife and I purchased one of those $25 Coupons where you get $50 of Food at Bizarre. The fine print read that you had to buy 2 main course dishes or pastas. So we went in, ordered a Tilapia, a pasta dish, baked brie, lobster bisque etc. (more than enough to cover the 2 dish minimum). And the owner sends one of her poor managers out to say, and I quote "She just changed the rules, you either have to get 2 main course dishes, or I have to charge you $7 more for the pasta." And I said, "But, I just spent an extra $30 on Tapas, and soup, and it says that pasta's are acceptable?" He said, "I know, there's no rhyme or reason, but she just changed the rule right now."\r Needless to say, don't ever go to this place. It's not worth the nickle-and-diming potential to ruin what could have been a returning customer, and a good experience. more
