Ode to a White Hat
I know a big guy named Jim.
Hard work and long hours are nothing to him.
With brawn and with brain
He built up his name;
And as for witted, he could never be called “dim”.
He’s a “man’s man”, one might very well say.
He faces challenges in his shop all the live long day.
With scrappiness and with grit,
Many bullets he has bit;
And he does it with the least whit of delay.
His estimates are anything but far-fetched.
A guy’s penny he does anything to stretch.
He is straight forward and fair,
He uses precision and care.
As your “car guy”, he’s a terrific “catch”!
His manner might to some at first seem gruff.
That’s baloney----he’s anything but mean and tough!
A secret not well known
To people outside his home
Is that his exterior is merely a bluff.
The code of the “White Hat” guides his M.O.
He’ll treat you right—no smoke does he blow.
There’s no softer Teddy Bear,
Here or anywhere,
Than the big guy at Jim’s Extreme Auto.
With all due appreciation, respect, and gratitude,
Mary Jacobs Varner
