This place is ok for lunch but to be in the top ten is a joke it is overated and should not be in the top ten. I think HOT SHOTS is much more worth being in the top ten!!! Pros...

Great food, Great service 2/12/2010

My wife and I were driving down Manchester trying to find somewhere new to eat. The rustic look of the Big Bear Grill caught my eye and we decided to give it a whirl. The burger I ordered was juicy and delicious and the fries were perfectly crispy. My wife had a bbq chicken sandwich that was also delicious. The bbq sauce was so good I asked the waitress what kind it was. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was made in house. I will be going back very soon. Pros: Delcicious food, perfectly cooked fries Cons: smokey, a little pricey more

A fantastic casual restaurant 9/16/2007

We love going to Big Bear....okay, it is very close to our home....but I know we would drive further if we had to just for their catfish dinners alone. Smashed garlic potatoes as a side...perhaps a beer with our meal. Yummy!!! As the autumn comes creeping in, I tasted their chili today. It is fantastic with chunks of beef (not ground), tomatoes, kidney beans and a bit of corn in just the right seasoning. \r We love the casual atmosphere that can appeal for both drinking adults and for families. Pros: good variety and good tasting food with prices not too overblown. Cons: I would prefer more natural lighting...but that's just one of the things I look for. more

HOW REFRESHING 4/20/2006

WHEN YOU CONTINUE TO TRY NEW RESTAURANTS FOR SERVICE/VALUE/TASTE, IT IS HARD TO GET ALL 3. HOWEVER, WE WERE SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. THE BEST PORK TENDERLOIN IVE EVER HAD. THERE WERE 4 OF US, AND WE ALL TRADED TASTES AND HAVE GONE BACK NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE. Pros: REASONABLY PRICED, OUTSIDE DINING, DELICIOUS FOOD Cons: 2 FAR FROM MY HOUSE, NONE , NONE more

Great Neighborhood Bar and Grill. 8/24/2004

This is a great neighborhood Bar and grill. ALL of the food is freshly made. The most of the daily specials are worth ordering. comfort foods like meat loaf, roasted and fried chicken are great for those with busy scheduels looking for a good wholesome meal and a great price. The staff and ownership regularly walk the restaurant seeking input and satisfaction. Pros: Food, Service, Quality & Cleanliness more

More Than Expected 4/6/2004

Big Bear looks like it should be passed by from the outside - but upon closer inspection was more than I expected. The menu had plenty of food for all ages, from kids to teens to adults wanting something a little bit off the wall. The food quality is MUCH better than most casual restaurants. Price is reasonable for what you get, too - although it is more than you'd pay at similarly targetted chain restaurants. In fact, I would have highly recommended this place, but for the fact that the smoke from the bar permeates the entire restaurant. Now that we have a baby on hand, it makes Big Bear an impossibility. Sigh ... if only St. Louis City/County would make all of its restaurants go smoke free ... Pros: food quality, variety, price Cons: , food prep time more

Homestyle food at a bar 3/2/2004

It's more of a bar than restaraunt, but still good range of food selection. Everything from burgers to ""fried chicken dinners with all the fixins"". Liitle more expensive than your average bar fare, but still a good value for your money. I've always had a good time and great food upon every visit. Location may be a bit far out of town for tourists, but worth the drive. more

very boring 10/18/2002

This place is ok for lunch but to be in the top ten is a joke it is overated and should not be in the top ten. I think HOT SHOTS is much more worth being in the top ten!!! Pros: chili, ATMOSPHERE FOR LUNCH Cons: SPORTING EVENTS, SMALL TV'S, NO STEREO FOR SPORTS more

GREAT PLACE 8/7/2002

My family and I ate there two weeks ago, the food is great, service is good, and I love the ambiance!! Weve been back twice since! Pros: Food, Value, Cleanliness more

a bear of a burger! 8/4/2002

Juicy and delicious, cooked just the way I like it, with all the fixings. Best Hamburger (or cheeseburger) in St. Louis! Pros: great wall pictures, ample parking, family friendly more
