The absolutely worst restaurant I've ever had in San Francisco ! And criminal involved !!!! 1. As I didn't bring my id, the waiter refused to take the master card. That's fine,so ...

DIABOLICAL SERVICE. Rude staff 5/9/2006

DIABOLICAL SERVICE. I took my mother there. The service was slow, miserable and rude. After waiting at least 25 minutes to be served, I asked for some mustard, gray poupon. The waitress who I believe is related to the owners was very bitchy, had a continuous pout on her face and seemed more interested in her nails then serving anyone. She refused to bring us any mustard and then proceeded to shout at us for no apparent reason. The bill, which arrived surprisingly fast, was hand written and confusing, we asked her to explain some charges. She got extremely bitchy, called someone from the kitchen, the manager/ owner. They conversed in another language and then proceeded to shout at us using foul language, which was offensive. I have never been so embarrassed in public and wound never return or recommend Bia. Pros: good location, outside area. Cons: BAD and RUDE service, no parking, slow and rude service more

Apalling service 1/21/2006

Awful service. Very slow.We waited almost an hour for the app, which tasted and looked like a hamburger with yogurt sauce. 2 couples left on either side of us, because the service was non existant. One couple was at the bar, no drink after 15 min, no apology. My water glass was empty for about 30 minutes. Most of the plants are dead. It looks adorable from the street, which is why we went. We laughed in the begining, it was so bad, but then we were just starving. the only ""apology"" we got, was that a big table's food had just come up... Ummm, no, not really working for me. We will never go back. We were also told that there were no tables available, so we sat at the bar, the next 2 couples that came in, got sat at open tables upstairs?! Pros: I got to leave Cons: Looooong wait, Non existant service more

Abysmal 1/4/2006

Okay, I understand, it's New Year's Day. You're probably hung over. You want to hang out at the bar and drink champagne. You don't want to serve customers. That's fine. But drinking champagne is not necessarily incompatible with greeting your customers, especially when your restaurant is half-empty- at the very least you could make eye contact. Maybe after ten or fifteen minutes when you decide to visit your customers' table you could, I don't know, apologize for the wait. I regret going to Bia's, and I regret even more that we were too hung over to leave during that ten to fifteen minute wait. Ugh. more

Fantastic Restaurant 11/3/2005

I had dinner here about three weeks ago, and have been back twice since then. This place is quietly one of the better restaurants in the city. The atmposhere is lively w/o being overbearing, the service is top notch--the staff is very attentive and you can tell they know the menu front ways and side ways. I've only had wine by the glass but their selection looks very impressive. The grilled lamb sirloin is one my favorites dishes. The risotto hits the spot as well. I haven't had brunch there yet but it looks packed on Sunday, so I'm guessing it's delicious. more

A casual, classy treat in the Haight! 10/2/2005

We have been to Bia's several times, and are always impressed by the friendly, knowledgeable staff and consistently good food. The best items on the menu are the more eclectic ones -- don't be afraid to take a chance! The more ""American"" dishes are not amazing but still very good; we've tried maybe half the menu and have never had a bad experience. Prices are high for the Haight area, but more than reasonable considering it's San Francisco. They have a nice wine list -- if you want to just chill over a glass or bottle of wine, this is the place. The atmosphere is great -- casual but classy. I wish the back patio were open more often! Pros: Good food!, GREAT atmosphere, Wine list Cons: A little pricey, Patio not always open more
