Beyond Bliss

I was scheduled to have a facial at 2 pm today. Having booked the appointment last month and confirmed it yesterday, I arrived a few minutes before 2 to find the door locked and a sign saying that they were with clients and that they would reopen at 2:15. I tried calling them but (because they were all with clients) no one answered. Tired of standing out in the cold, I knocked on the door -- the massage therapist came and let me in and confirmed that my appointment was scheduled for 2 but said that the person before me had come late and that the appointment was running over. At 2:15, another employee came out -- she told me that my facialist would be with me in a 'few minutes' but could not confirm when my appointment would actually start. At 2:20 with no sign of the appointment before mine wrapping up, I gave up and walked out. I am surprised and disappointed at the complete lack of courtesy and professionalism -- while I understand that the person before me was running late, this was not my problem -- the spa should have given that person the option of either accepting a shortened treatment or rescheduling. Finally, it is ridiculous that the salon does not staff the front with a receptionist so that customers can avoid standing in the cold/rain. (During the time I was waiting to get inside, 2 other customers came to buy products but finding the door locked they walked away -- it is amazing this salon even stays in business.) more

I love going to Beyond Bliss! It is small and inviting; not pretentious, but still luxurious. Love the facials -- they use Eminence products which are Organic and smell delish! Plus, you get a hand, arm, and foot/leg massage!! I hate it when places skip that! I would highly recommend a brow wax too...Jo Ann does a great job! I always look and feel polished when I leave. more

The facials are outstanding here. The facialists don't leave the rooms or just sit there while you are having masks or any other treatments, they are always working on you in one way or another; hand massages, foot massages, etc. So many places you feel like you are paying for break time for your facialist, but not here. The products are excellent and smell awesome, the tables are so comfy and you get more than your money's worth. The massages are unlike any I have EVER found at a spa. Spa massages are almost always too light on pressure & too focused on relaxing. All the while I lay there getting more & more tense because they aren't working out any of my kinks or knots. Not at Beyond Bliss. They seem to only hire serious massage therapists! I even brought my husband in today & he wants to go here from now on to see Miranda. She does acupressure to perfection and I would recommend her to anyone. I'm so happy Vancouver finally has a top notch spa & that I've found it! Lucky me! And my hubby too! I'll never go back to Beyond Bliss because of the terrible job they did on my eyebrows. I had great, normal eyebrows when I went in. When I left, they were measly, thin little lines above my eyes. I don't know why anyone in their right mind would think this is an attractive look. I'm so angry. Pros: Their massages have been great. Cons: They disfigured my eyebrows. more

Services offered for a good price. Very knowlegeable masseuse and esthetician. They have a nice,comfy waiting area, but I never have to wait for more than a few minutes. Easily accessible location in Vancouver on the corner of Mill Plain and Main St. more

I've been receiving facials and related services for my acne since August 2007. I suffered from cystic acne that was getting worse by the week. I had several old mounds deforming my face and the swollen tissue was seriously embarrassing. The owner used several different types of treatments on me that were just what I needed. Almost instantly I had the normal shape of my face back. Slowly the healthy skin has returned, but it looks better now than it has in years!! I had been consistently using a popular OTC product for three years but it had not solved my problem. So I bought dermalogica products at Beyond Bliss and have used them faithfully ever since. Now my skin has a normal, healthy looking appearance. It's really a miracle. The owners encouragement and faithfulness to solving the problem motivated me even more on the weeks when I'd have a bad flare up. I felt like we were a team and she believed my skin would get better - and it has!! I'm a customer for life. (Several doctors and prescriptions and topicals and OTCs could not do what she did for me, although I did finally get on a prescription that works for my system.) more

A wonderful oasis in downtown Vancouver! My esthetician was fabulous and my Eminence facial was the best. The products were like dessert on my face. My skin felt like silk plus I was relaxed and rejuvinated all at once. I would recommend crossing the bridge for a great experience. Pros: parking, no sales pressure more
