I happened to be glancing through these blogs and I cant believe someone wrote that about ben franklin. Obviously ben franklin is not the problem here. Everybody there has been nothing but nice to me. I have been going to this store since I was a little girl. I know employees personally and this is not how they act to their valued customers. I own my own store and I know I only act out of order after a customer crosses the line. Notice every other review about the store has nothing but nice things to say. This has nothing to do with background or hertitage. Ben frankin is a well rounded store. One person's disinterest in continuing to visit this awesome place will not discourage others. more

Talk About Customer Service? Yuk! 11/29/2006

I was in the store and very politely asked to find something. One of the employees (who I found out later was a manager) pointed and said "aisle 4 or 5 on the floor". Well, I went to the left side of the aisles where she pointed and did not find what I was looking for. I went back to the register and she was there and a male employees, 30'ish, blonde hair, she had short blonde hair and bangs, a nasty disposition like she hated being there. Anyways, I asked the male, could you tell me where the Hanukkah items are. I said she told me aisle 4 or 5 on the L.H. side floor but I don't see them. He very sarcastically came out from behind the register and said "Let me take you right there since you can't find them yourself". I said, "This is not veyr nice customer service". He turned to me and said, "We are very customer service oriented". I disagreed and said if you were, you wouldn't be speaking like this. He looked at me and said "Get rid of the attitude". I said, you and the other employee have the attitudes. He then said "You know what - find it yourself - aisle 4 or 5 on the floor and he walked away from me. I then asked to see a manager and he said "ha, she's the manager" and again snickered and walked away. Disgusting attitude; terrible customer service - I have been shopping there for 54 years and I will never step foot in there again. Granted, they always have the "right thing you are looking for" but I'd rather not have it with that kind of customer service. Both manager and employee should be fired. I went to CVS after and I can't even tell you how wonderful their employees are. BIG DIFFERENCE. Customer Service doesn't seem to be a concern at Ben Franklin - or maybe they didn't like the fact that I was looking for Jewish items. Oh ya - also, I asked first about an item and it wasn't in stock yet. Instead of the manager telling me that - she said "we didn't get it yet". That was it. She could have said "We expect it in....... or whatever if she had any concern about Ben Franklin's customers'. I hope you lose a lot of business. more

Fun, Old-Fashioned Shop 4/22/2006

This store reminds me so much of a place my grandma used to take me in downtown L.A. when I was a kid. It's a really fun, old-fashioned five and dime type of store. It's sort of hard to describe what they have except to say that they have a little bit of everything, and you never really know what you're going to find there. It's fun to just go in a browse and see what you come up with. Cushing Square is a fun area to walk around in, and there are plenty of other fun little shops and eateries within a few blocks. This store is a throw back to the days of mom and pop shops. Have fun! more
