Editorial review from Citysearch 8/14/2012

After I took my couch cushion covers is to Bee Cleaners, I pointed out some oil spots and they reassured me that they would be pre-treated. When they came back they were worse, with big rings where they had left the solvent. They sent it back through and they did not come out. I expect because it was heat set with an iron. I agreed to let them wash them, as it was a last case scenario. When they came back for the third time, they were very shrunk. They tried to iron them out but didn’t get it. This was an expensive couch and finding a replacement is difficult. However Jay, the owner, had no interest in reimbursing me for my loss. He just refused to return my email. I give this place a negative five stars. more

If you would like your expensive 4/14/2012

If you would like your expensive designer clothing lost or destroyed, this is the place for you! Over the past five years I have tolerated poor turnaround time, missing clothing, and about a thousand destroyed buttons on my dress shirts (they don't even look at the clothing before they are finished to see if they have destroyed any buttons). They are now officially fired for destroying a brand new sweater (by no means an inexpensive one) while ""cleaning"" it for the first time. Better yet, they didn't bother to tell me about the enormous hole in it before kindly returning it to me. If I could give it -0- stars I would. more

In my experience, I would say the odds 2/7/2012

In my experience, I would say the odds that your garment will be properly cleaned or tailored is about a 25% chance. We use this dry cleaner because it is in a convenient location, but it may not be worth it anymore. I took in a few pairs of work pants to be hemmed, and two of the three had to be redone because the stitching came undone. I have taken coats here for their yearly cleaning before as well, and the white and lighter-coloured jackets don't seem to do well... usually they come back stained. I'm not sure if there is a cleaning solution that isn't tested in a discreet area before dumping it on, but I have had two jackets permanently stained. Dark jackets do fine unless they are down, as they come back deflated. Not sure if that is something that can be remedied via different cleaning techniques. On the upside, they starch shirts very nicely, though I won't send my pure white ones anymore. The convenient location just may not be enough to keep us as customers with the hit-or-miss service. more

Horrible customer service, the girl at 1/28/2012

Horrible customer service, the girl at the front counter seems to consistently go out of her way to be rude. Recently they lost a shirt of mine and have made the situation worse by overpromising when it will be returned (brought back by another customer, I guess); I've gone in twice to pick it up when they said it would be there, but the employees working have no idea what I'm talking about. Awful. That was the last straw; I'm going to find a new cleaner. more

Horrible Service 3/28/2011

On a Thursday, I dropped of two items for cleaning. I was told that I'd be charged extra because they used an environmental friendly detergent. When I asked the employee for the name of the ""environmental friendly"" cleaner that I was being charged extra for, she couldn't give me an answer. Yet, she could apply the extra charge which i found to be very interesting. to add insult to injury, she then told me that my items would be ready for pick-up the following Wednesday; as it is their pick-up day. Yet, when I arrived to pick up my clothing, they were not ready. The time invested chasing down my clothing or the extended wait, simply worth it, nor the money spent. talk about a total drag! Save yourself a headache and money. more

BEST DRYCLEANERS IN TOWN 3/3/2010

I'm a former employee of Bee Cleaners and I must say they taught me a lot and its a great place to work for. Many of our customers were very pleased with the work we had done. There are 3 stores convieniently located at the uptown, downtown, and south waterfront areas. You can even have them pick up/deliver to your house. How convienient is that! You have the option to have your shirts boxed or hung. Repairs are down at reasonable prices and they have the best tailors around. They have a quick turn around time only 3 days. Some customers complain about that but if it takes more than 1 day to have your clothes cleaned and pressed professionally. You could take your clothes somewhere else and have them do a half a** job and get it back the same day. They use environmentally friendly solvent and it doesn't make your clothes stink! There is really no competition when it comes to Bee's, they're simply the best! I would never take my clothes anywhere else and would recommend Bee's to anyone. The owner, Jay, is awesome and knows what he's doing. He treats customers with utmost respect. If you want your clothes taken care of with the highest quality then you found your drycleaner. Pros: Outstanding customer service & good quality work more

Fantastic Service 12/31/2009

I have been using Bee cleaners for over 25 years and have always had great service. When I have had a problem, they have always strived to correct it at no charge. I highly recommend them! Pros: consistantly great service Cons: not more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER 10/5/2009

DO NOT USE BEE CLEANERS!!!! This place is a joke, not one person there knows what is going on. I had my wedding dress ""cleaned"", altered and pressed there. I dropped my dress off 1 1/2 months before my wedding and at that time met with the tailor at Bee cleaners NW by Zupans 2310 W Burnside St. Portland, OR 97210. I had a dress that was my best friends dress and so I needed it altered and cleaned a bit. I told her I didn't want a train and so we talked about my options. We decided it would be nice to do a bunch of small bustles on the train to pull it up without having to cut the dress. After the alterations work was completed I went back in to try on the dress with the alterations. I didn’t like the way it looked, she did a nice job on the alterations themselves however the bustles didn’t go with the style of dress I had. I then requested to have all bustles removed and have the dress sent over to their downtown store, their ‘main store’ 1026 SW Salmon St. Portland, OR 97205 to have it cleaned and pressed. She told me it would be ready to go before my wedding. I asked her if she would call me to let me know that the dress had been sent over and that the necessary alterations changes had been made. She did so and said everything was taken care of. I thanked her for her work and waited for my wedding day to approach. As time came closer I decided to call the cleaners just to check on the progress of the dress. When I called the downtown store a girl by the name of Stephanie Johnson answered the phone and said “hello” I said “I am just calling to check on the progress of my wedding dress, you guys are supposed to be cleaning it and pressing it.” She said “I’m sorry you have the wrong number, this is Stephanie Johnson.” I said “Who is Stephanie Johnson; I got this number from the uptown Bee cleaners as the number to call to check on my wedding dress.” She laughed and said “nope, you have the wrong number” and then hung up. I called the uptown cleaners back and told them what happened. The girl there said she knows who Stephanie is and that she just must be tired from working all day and tried to make excuses for the phone call and said she would look into it in the morning. No matter how long you have been at work if you are still standing at your work place and answering your work phone you should know that you are still at Bee Cleaners! ****I Have too much information to share, the rest is posted on the next posting under the uptown posting....can't post more than once! Pros: NOTHING Cons: EVERYTHING more

Terrible Customer Service-Don't Go! AT UPTOWN LOCATION 1/13/2009

When I walked into the UPTOWN Location-all the girl said to me was ""dropping off?"" Without looking at me. I had to come back for a crappy hem job, then endure the crappy customer service! Really, is your job that bad? I dropped off dry cleaning too and I have no clue when its suppose to be done. The girl seemed like I was a big waist of her time! I have NEVER received that poor of customer service! Don't go here! Pros: Not sure haven't picked up my cothes-don't know when to! Cons: Customer Service!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Be careful, their clerks are not as well trained as they claim. 8/14/2007

Don't know about the downtown location, but the Northwest location is run by bozos. I dropped off heirloom down pillows asking about the process and telling the clerk I wanted the down cleaned and the original ticking fabric retained. She assured me this would be the case. When I went to retrieve them, lo and behold, the ticking had been replaced! I was offerred only a 'Sorry' - no efforts whatsoever on their part to attempt to fix their error. Had I known this would happen, I would have gone elsewhere. Now, my grandmother's hand-made pillows are forever altered. I'm livid that the manager there made no effort to have me leave a contented customer. She only made defensive statements: ""We have no control over what [the outside vendor] does."" Well, they should have control over what their staff tells its customers, and they certainly should better train and inform their clerks, not only in protocol for services, but in customer service! I'm hugely disappointed. Pros: items are cleaned well Cons: the service rendered is exactly contrary to what I ordered more

TERRIBLE!! 8/1/2007

I was shocked at the horrible service I received. I had dresses altered incorrectly for a wedding and even after acknowledging that it was not done correctly they would not give my $32 back. The owner actually equated my situation to my profession as a nurse. He stated that if I gave my patient tylenol and it didn't work, would I give them there money back.....are you kidding me!!!! His final option for me was to give my $32 back but he would have his tailor undo the work that was done, ""rip out the seam"" is how he put it. He only agreed to give my money back when I threatened to sue.....I really couldn't believe how poorly he was handling the situation. This experience alone could have been dealt with so easily and it turned into a screaming match instead. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK!! more

Good service on time 12/26/2006

I've had consistently good service from Bee, and their prices are consistent with what other dry cleaners charge downtown. They offer box or hanger service, and my clothes are always ready when they say they will be. While their counter service could be a *bit* friendlier, they aren't necessarily unfriendly. I would recommend Bee to my friends/family. more

absloutly the best in town!!! 6/20/2006

This place is the best dry cleaners around!!! the ladies that work there are so nice and helpful. they are always doing their best to make the customers as happy as possible. the owner is also very nice and helpful. I know I'll never stop going there. i would strongly suggest that you go see for yourself how wonderful they are!! Pros: alway there to help Cons: take a little longer than originally said sometimes more

Terrible! 6/20/2006

This place is the worst AND most expensive in the city. They lost my shirt and made me wait a month while they ""looked for it."" Then once they finally conceded it took them weeks to stop dodging my phone calls and write me a check. They have repeatedly broken buttons and when I ask them to replace them they told me I should buy shirts with thinner buttons that more easily fit into pressing machines. Once when I asked about the cost of having a pillow cleaned the arrogant manager told me ""if you have to ask, you can't afford it."" These people are just miserable jerks. more
