My primary care doctor retired and I was devastated. I'd been with him for 17 years. I tried several other doctors and they didn't take the time with me I was used to. Then I found Dr. Becker. \r \r She has hours to accommodate a working person's schedule. She takes the time to listen and has very reasonable prices. She found the cause of a problem I've been living with for years and I feel great! I've recommended to friends and they are very happy with her as well. more

Awesome experience each and every time visiting Dr Becker! She is excellent in her knowledge of Naturopathic medicine, Acupuncture and has a strong background in allopathic medicine when needed. I've been under Dr Becker's care for over 20 years along with my entire family. My wife loves her too and is her primary care physician and recommends many women and families to her. Dr. Maureen Becker is the best doctor in Portland! She is extremely knowledgeable, caring, honest, sensitive, and knows the medicine! She is a Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Acupuncturist. She has been caring for my family for over 20 years and has always been correct with her diagnosis in treating us. She is very gentle when she does her Gyn examinations and is upfront with explaining everything to you as she goes. \r \r Her rates are very reasonable, the best that I have ever found in Portland for a doctor. I go to her instead of Kaiser for my exams. I rather pay the cost of the lab and her visit to have her do the exam and not Kaiser. She gets results back to you as soon as she gets them from the lab. She makes room in her schedule even staying late if you need to have an appointment and can't wait.\r \r I refer my friends and their families to her as she is a phenomenal doctor. My friends have always been happy with the care they receive after they have seen Dr. Becker. She listens to your concerns about your health and gets you on the road to excellent health. Exceptional doctor! Our family have been her patients for twenty years! She has helped us with ailments that MDs had thoroughly botched. She's incredibly caring and stays current with medical information. She also treats her patients with respect and truly values their input in regard to treatment. In addition, she understands the pressures of day to day finances and works with you to keep costs to a minimum. Can't say enough good things about her! more

Dr. Becker is amazing. I am shocked at any negative reviews, because Dr. Becker turned out to be NOTHING like what they said she was. Pay more heed to the positive ones. Dr. Becker is extremely caring, sweet, and intelligent. I highly recommend for gynecological exams. I also highly recommend if you are without insurance, she charges HALF of what other local naturopaths do, and yet gives the same quality of care. I was not disappointed, and in fact left her office relieved at having such a positive gyne experience! more

I've met Dr. Becker on many occasions, she's very warm, nice and friendly and always makes the patient feels that she cares about them and their conditions. It can be difficult to reach her at times but that's only because her schedule is quite packed but she does return calls whenever she can. There's never a long waiting period because she's good at getting her prior appointments done in time so she can see you around the time of your appointment and I really appreciate that. I would highly recommend this doctor because she does have a wealth of experience and is a caring doctor and that's very important. more

I met Maureen Becker just after I was diagnosed with breast cancer, stage 3. I truly appreciated her honesty and candor when explaining what she could do - and what she couldn't do to help me. I saw her after every chemotherapy session and was treated with both acupuncture and nurtrional supplements. She was such a help to me during a very difficult time. Even my oncologist couldn't figure out how I was handling chemo so well, and when I told him what I was doing, he told me to keep it up! And it has been 8 years and I have had no further signs of the cancer. And I still see Maureen on a regular basis. Pros: compassionate, empathetic, caring,honesty Cons: none that I know of more

I have been going to Maureen Becker for many years,even before she was at her current location! I consider her a very capable doctor & friend..She listens to my symptoms,and right away she has an idea of what is going on, and about 99.9% of the time she is correct! I get acupuncture once a week, and I come out feeling GREAT! I have read some of the other reviews, and I sincerely dont understand the negative comments?I have never experienced any of the harsh things that have been said.. But,overall what matters is that Maureen Becker is a phenomenal doctor! With a sense of humor to boot! She honestly cares about people and their welfare and will go out of her way to help you feel better. She is definitely not in this field of work for the money,because she is very reasonably priced...The last thing I want to make sure people know is that she is really good about getting people in for an appointment in a reasonable amount of time. Within a couple of days usually! I dont know of any doctors offices that can get you in that fast! I had been sick for two weeks when I finally made an appointent with Maureen... 30 minutes for $48. Even though I was paying more than a dollar a minute for her, she up and left the exam room for 7 full minutes with no explanation. When she finally did come back to speak with me, she asked me NO questions about my medical history, did not delve into my symptoms, and did not ask questions about my personal life and habits. She performed a quick exam, mentioned something about it being viral, and then started to write me a prescription without telling me what it was. When I asked, she said it was an antibiotic (which should not be prescribed for viral infections) and I then had to ask her point-blank what it was that I was sick with (she was not going to volunteer that information to me). When I expressed that I didn't want antibiotics, she proceeded to try to sell me a Chinese medicine that was pretty much all alcohol. If she had asked questions about me (my life), she would know that I DO NOT drink alcohol. I tell her this and she laughs and says that once she ""accidentally"" gave this medicine to a woman who was alcoholic. Pros: Sweet receptionist Cons: Takes too long to return phone calls, only takes appointments three days per week. more

She self-admits to not being gentle, and true to form, getting a gyne exam from her was like getting mauled by a pack of wild dogs. Her touch lacks sensitivity and she doesn't listen, even when you ask her to go slower, even when you ask her to let you know when she's going to penetrate you before she does so, even when you are screaming. Dr. Becker is affordable and friendly. She has a laid-back but professional attitude and gets the job done. The office is the eensiest bit bohemian feeling (they leave most lights off in daylight hours to conserve electricity, etc.) but to me, that's a good thing! I come from a background of very methodical, none too personable practitioners who all had very large, sterile offices. Being a naturopath, I wasn't sure if she could give prescriptions, but on my second visit I needed an antibiotic and she wrote it up no problem. I'm glad I found Dr. Becker because at $45 per visit, I can afford to go to the doctor even though I don't have health insurance. I never have to wait more than a few minutes, and when I call to schedule an appointment she is usually available within the week. Much better than any clinic I've been to! It's also very nice that Saturday appointments are an option. Pros: Affordable, personable, accurate. Prescriptions ok. Evening/Saturday appts! Cons: I don't go very often, so I'm not always remembered. Could maybe be more organized? more
