Not Happy 5/21/2012

I've eaten worst Italian food, maybe not. The sauce ,(you know the heart of good Italian food) wasn't even close to good. The meat balls were lousy(tasted fishy). Maybe that's why my wife was sick for two days after eating there? The place had a nice ambiance. But the prices were ridiculously high, and I can't believe there was people waiting to get in. We had twenty people in our group, and three-quarters of them thought it was a nice place to see but the last place to eat. All I know for sure, it was my only time I'll visit. I've had much better food off catering trucks. more

What a wonderful experience! 10/18/2011

Please if you see any bad reviews do not believe them. I almost did and I would have missed this place. The owner/Manager Marchettta is fabulous. This was for a wedding rehersal dinner of 22 people and she really did a great job. The service was perfect, the ambiance perfect, the food perfect, the price perfect! The wine they serve with dinner was actually really good. The portions are huge. One review I had read said they served on plastic plates and that is so NOT true. Obviously written by someone who wanted something for free! Do yourself a big favor and book here. Not one bad thing to say out of 22 meals. Loved it!!!!!!! more

So fun 4/18/2011

Our witer claimed Mama was in the kitchen cooking like a slave, and that if we didn't eat all our dinner he would get a wallop across the head. This place was really fun. they had an ancient little man playing accordion that wouldn't go away until you paid him a tip. Fun! more

Could do better with Prego 10/30/2010

Arrived on a Wed.evening (5:00) as a party of one. I could see that at least three of the seating areas were virtually empty. I was told that I'd have to wait at the bar until they could ""fit me in"". Great !! warm beer at overpriced prices. Don't get me wrong, after being seated the salad and bread were enjoyable, but the free wine would choke a horse, drink water. The meal itself was TERRIBLE!!!! The comped pasta was a cold bowl of pasta shells with a couple spoonfulls of tomato juice. The veal was overcooked and tough and again topped with what appeared to be stewed tomatos. And somebody tell the accordian player that was hawking tips to retire, he must be 100. Very overpriced and terrible food. more

Another good Italian restaurant 2/17/2010

This used to be a great place, now if you don't mind bumper to bumper traffic, the electromagnetic field from the monorail/power-lines, well then it would still be a great place. At least service is still good, food is still good as well. Pros: good service Cons: traffic-location-the train more

Great Dining Experience 4/7/2009

We recently held a dinner for 32 people and could not have been more pleased. The appetizer trays were great and even though we had a large party set up, each person could pick from the menu. Our only disappointment was that we had no fridge in out hotel rooms to keep the leftovers. The price was reasonable and the staff very attentive. i will eat there every time I visit Vegas. Pros: Wonderful Entrees more

the worst 3/21/2009

the sauce was so bad we couldn't eat it. the coffee tasted like hot chocolate which the waiter told us is how they make it SAVE YOUR MONEY Cons: awful food more

NEVER AGAIN 3/16/2009

OVERPRICEDFOR WHAT YOU GET , OVERCOOKED, BAD SAUCE, NOT WORTH THE MONEY. YEARS OF GOING TO VEGAS AND OLIVE GARDEN WOULD BE BETTER, WHICH I NEVER GO TO. GREW UP ITALIAN AND THIS ISN'T! WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN AS I GO TO LAS VEGAS QUITE OFTEN. Cons: SCHOOL FOOD more

Best Italian 3/1/2009

I've lived in Las Vegas for 16 years now and this has to be my favorite spot. the place is cute and comforting and the food was amazing. If your a family looking for budget meals don't go here. A lot of these reviews on here say it's over priced, It's not. If you go anywhere else you're going to pay a good amount for an appetizer and wine. this place the wine comes with the meal and so does bread, soup or salad, and a cappucinno at the end. So I think paying 30 dollars for all that isn't bad at all. the sauce was perfect, not to light not to heavy. the portion sizes were very big and the service was excellent. The waiter wasn't overbearing but asked a few times through out the meal if we were okay. for all the tourists coming to Las Vegas, stick to your Olive Garden and Bucca di beppo. If you can't appreciate good old style Las Vegas Italian food then stay away. Pros: big portion sizes, great prices, good wine for being free, nice service Cons: It was a little dark more

WAY OVERPRICED FOR SUCH BAD BAD FOOD....THIS MAY BE A VEGAS INSTITUTION...BUT YOU WOULD GET A BETTER MEAL IN AN INSTITUTION!!! 8/27/2008

HIGHLY DISSAPOINTED I TOOK 9 PEOPLE TO DINNER AND WAS SO EMBARRASED WITH THIS FOOD..IT BECAME THE RUNNING JOKE WITH MY FRIENDS...IVE HAD BETTER ITALIAN FOOD AT A PIZZA PLACE AND OUT OF A FROZEN DINNER BOX... Pros: IF YOUR TRYING TO LOOSE WEIGHT THIS IS THE PLACE TO EAT..2 BITS AND YOUR DONE!!! Cons: FOOD PRICE WAS A RIP OFF!!! more

Warm and charming 8/22/2008

Went there 8-20-08, and yes it was excellent. I ordered shrimp scampi and was surprised to get a dozen good sized shrimp along with the butter sauce. My wife ordered chicken parm and again she was very happy also. I noticed that the new trendy places on the strip are virtually the same and the helpings are not all that great. Batista's has a certain charm to it that the others don't and thats the best part of it. Our waiter was very nice and was there whenever you needed something. In short Batista's is warm while the others are cold and impersonal. Thats my two cents\r \r Pros: Warm and friendly great service and food Cons: None that I can think of to tell you the truth more

Battista's hole in the wall 8/16/2008

I LOVE this place....perfect chicken parm and wonderful warm service. Can't be beat in a city of italian restaurants... more

Good Food....Good Vibe....Good Price....Lots a Fun 5/14/2008

Yes, the food is just ""good"" and the service is good as well. The prices are excellent, especially considering you are right on the strip. You cannot beat the deal. All the free table wine you can drink, dessert and Cappucino. This definitely makes up for food and service. If you are looking for gourmet and don't care about price, you can certainly find suitable alternatives. If you are looking for good food, good fun and a good value....this is excellent. Pros: price and convenience Cons: crowded and outdated more

Second rate Italian at best 4/21/2008

Sent back my first choice because it was really bad.. Second choice was okay but I've had better microwaved dinners. Over priced... wasn't impressed with dusty, spider web ""decor"". Pros: service was good Cons: bad food more

Great deal AND great food 4/8/2008

This is a great deal for the money. Every meal comes with soup or salad bread sticks as much house wine as you can drink and a cappucinno afterwards. Theres not much room in the boothes but it gives the restuarant a more homey feel. The staff was great and very attentive. Pros: free wine Cons: close tables more

Terrible Food and Service 3/7/2008

After living in las vegas for 4 years and hearing so much about Batista's we decided to try it. What a mistake! The food was cafateria quality, but the service was worse. Everyone that works there is irritable and rude, from the door horror to the server. The highlights of the night were, the accordian player and the cappuccino. Pros: Accordian player Cons: Everything but specifically the rude service more

Great tasting experience! Picture walking into a good italien restaurant in 1962 and you have this place pegged! 1/7/2008

Let me start by saying we walked into the place expecting to be disappointed. We are always suspect of concierge recommendations. The atmosphere is very busy and relatively old but clean which adds some nice character to the place. If you are expecting trendy and 'outside the box' Italian you will probably be disappointed. The place is an excellent deal and the food was quite tasty. While the menu is not fixed it is ""old school"". Every meal is served with all the house wine you can drink. In addition every table gets fresh garlic bread. Each entree is served with soup or salad and an after dinner sweet cappuccino drink with whip cream. While the salad uses iceberg lettuce despite my preference for other lettuce leafs it was excellent. The soup is minestrone and is not overwhelming. I did sample a variety of items off my companion's plates and everything tasted great. The presentation of the food is underwhelming and the portion sizes are average but delivered on small plates to look quite nice.\r \r Now I realize why some people pan this place. This is not Olive Garden (not my fav). If you want innovative concepts in food that you have not seen before this is NOT your place. This is dad's Italian restaurant where the people are friendly and the food is zesty and delicious. \r \r They handle large parties very well because there menu is quite simple and relatively inflexible. Pros: Great flavor, great ambience, and great service Cons: Basic menu of familiar Italian dishes. You won't find whole wheat options here. more

Want Great Italian - Go Elsewhere! 12/28/2007

We visited Batista's for dinner on a recent trip to Vegas after having it recommended by the front desk at our hotel. We did some online searching and it appeared to be a good option, so we set out. I didn't pay attention to the fact that most of the good ratings were several YEARS old. Our first ""warning"" was when the cab driver tried to talk us into going to another Italian restaurant.... The restaurant boasts ""free"" salad, garlic bread, house wine, and cappucino. Given the fact that spaghetti with pomodoro (tomato) sauce is $18.95 per person - I'd say it's NOT free. We weren't too hungry after snacking the day away - and tried to order one serving - but warning number two came when the server refused and said we'd have to order two separate meals. The food was marginal - Our marinara tasted exactly like Buca di Beppo (which is fine), but they charge about half the price! Buca's salad is great and the bread fresh and hot. The garlic bread we were served was dry and the salad limp and tasteless. Since we don't drink wine, the ""free wine and cappucino"" were a bust. We had a bus load of leftovers, since we were staying at a hotel and couldn't take the food with us. Not feeling great about the meal - we were left with a really bad taste in our mouths upon leaving. We asked the doorman for a taxi. He summoned the next car in line - and we ended up in a LIMO - and paid $45 for what would have been a $10 cab ride. My advice - if you want great Italian food - or reasonable prices - keep looking! This place was a rip off! Pros: Close to the Vegas Strip Cons: Pricey for what you get more

What is all the fuss about? 12/26/2007

Although recommended by a local, we saw nothing special about this place. The bread had been sitting too long with the butter on it. It was edible, but not notable. The meal was okay, but the spinach was not good at all. We had to ask what it was! The salad was all right, but nothing special and you only got one bowl. The service was not exeptional either, even though they were not busy at all and there were two waiters taking care of us. I would find someplace else to eat Italian. It was priced too high too. The ""all you can drink"" wine is okay, I guess. We are not wine drinkers, so it was unimportant to us. The cappacino was good and a nice end to the meal. Pros: Free capicino Cons: Price, Lack of tasty food more
