Bark Avenue Pet Grooming

Made one leg on our 11 year old collie the color of raw hamburger. Shaved it down to the skin; it was actually raw. When we noticed this, I immediately went back to pick up our boarder collie mix and witnessed the same boy jerking and yelling at our pup. (He hadn't noticed me come into the shop.) Of course, I told him to get my dog off the table immediately. There are too many options in STL to use a butcher shop like this. Never again ... I thought the staff at Bark Avenue was professional and caring. I took my border collie and golden retriever in smelling pretty bad, but the groomers did a great job!!! Not only that, but my dogs seemed less apprehensive at first than other groomers I've been to. The less traumatic it is, the better. I thought they were the best in the city I've been to so far. Upon arrival the place was friendly from the outside but entering the door and getting a waft of animal urine was gross. The boss was never around according to the employee's i dealt with (some of whom were actually friendly), when picking up my dog, the lady was horrible. Smoking in the shop , talking about personal things my child didn't need to hear, and ignoring questions about pricing from her employees. If i were you I would concider going somewhere else period. The haircut i requested wasn't what i recieved. Instead she did what she wanted and told me there was nothing else she could have done. My golden retriever came back with half of its back end shaved. She told me something about hot spots which my dog didnt have. Pros: close to home Cons: disgusting environment more

Prices are not bad, the place could use a cleaning but they really do give your dog more attention than Petsmart. Overall, they did an average job--better than I could do, but not the best groomer in town by far. more
