fish bowl BAR NONE FUN 12/22/2010

I went to Bar None with a group of my friends recently on a Friday night, It wasn't that packed but we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Everyone dances and the bartenders are efficient. I was a Lil tipsy but from what I can remember the music was a large variety; i remember hearing will smiths intro to his old show, reggae and hip hop. I love meeting all different types of people so this place was great for me, I ended up dancing with lots of different people just looking to have fun. If you come here try the fish bowl (humongous fishbowl of liquor) FUN TIMES!! more

Bargain 9/30/2010

I go to Bar None on Thursdays at 6.30pm for trivia night. The bar is super cheap, dirty little place that is always packed. Pub quiz night is free to play and the winning team gets $50 off their bar tab (prizes for 2nd & 3rd, too). In order to get my tab to $50, i need to order shots. This place is a super bargain! Also, they don't serve food, but you can bring in food from nearby. There's a good pizza place nearby and a philly cheesesteak joint, too. more

Stay away from this place 1/2/2009

I went here for New Years Eve. I wasn't expecting too much from this place from the pictures on the website, but it was a decent price for the open bar, and my friends and I were cash strapped this year. I really think I should have just spent the extra $30 to go somewhere else because this place is a hole. IT was packed wayyy beyond what's legal and too the point where the coat check was full and people were leaving there coats under the DJ's box. \r \r They lost my friend's coat and the club manager wasn't cooperating at all by refusing to give any contact information for the places management or parent company. Instead kept giving the number to the bar itself.\r \r Later on this place was getting so slippery because of al lthe spilled drinks that people were falling all over the place (I went down once myself when trying to navigate through the place). \r \r Drinks were okay as long as you tipped the bartender, but this place is really a hole that needs to be shutdown and its owners fined. Pros: drinks were strong if you tip Cons: The crowd more

LIARS!!!! 11/9/2008

My girlfriends and i went to Bar None for Halloween because we were told they were hosting a Costume Contest and that the winners would win bar tabs (which is a sweet deal to a couple of lushes like us). Despite the banner outside the bar advertising said Costume Contest, there was no contest to be had. The bartenders, bouncers and djs alike had no idea what we were talking about when we finally inquired about this alleged contest at 1:30am. Granted, we did have fun on Halloween and we have had fun at this bar before, we were still super annoyed that we were mislead. That being said, I can't promise that we'll be back here. Pros: Cheap, unpretentious, FANTASTIC location Cons: Line, cover charge, bathrooms are atrocious! more

Very fun bar! 6/27/2008

Bar None is really fun!! Went there last weekend with a bunch of my girlfriends and had a great time! There's beer pong in the back if you get there early enough, then a dj and dancing. No cover and pretty cheap drinks. $2 mixed drinks and these humongous drinks in a fishbowl! Great place to dance Pros: Cheap drinks, cute boys, no cover Cons: small ladies' room more

lowlife hangout 4/13/2008

last weekend i watched as one of the bouncers and a group of his friends in the bar jump some guy and throw him out of the bar and into a parked car. what made it disturbing to watch was that the guy they threw out was trying to diffuse a potential fight. thought it was a lowlife thing to do. the beer was flat too! avoid this place. more

Terrible 1/27/2008

This place is terrible, the bouncers are horrible and start fights with people for no reason, and trashy people in the bar. Do not recommend, mad that we even spent our money there. more

The Trashiest Joint in the City 4/12/2007

Went here a little while ago, saw the velvet ropes, heard about the fun NYU scene, etc... DONT BE FOOLED. The place is full of the trashiest people in the city, from the old and fat to the loudest, msot obnoxious ghettto latinos and wannabe ghettto white kids. You'll look out of place here with anything but Chico, or Phat Farm jeans. \r \r Also, when the bouncer carded me, he asked if I was here for the cheap drinks, I said... uhhh sure, he said, ok 20$ cover, I handed over the cash, got a bracelet and ended up not getting anything off any of my drinks. I asked the bartender and she said that it was for the fukking birthday party in the back with jello shots... asked the bouncer for my 20 bucks back and he said helllll nawww, as he grabbed some 16 year old's a$$ with a fake id. How is this joint still around? I love dive bars and all, but this just brings it to a new level, in a really REALLY bad way. Cons: everything more

Hands Down Best Dive Bar in NYC 8/16/2006

I've been going to Bar None since my days at NYU and it's still as crazy. There's a comedy show now on Thursdays and everytime they've got comedians who've been on Conan O'Brien, Comedy Central, HBO. It's still dirt cheap and I love the spirit of the place. Everyone is welcome there- ""bar none"". I love it. Pros: Best Dive Bar in the City. A CLASSIC. Cons: Can get crowded more

Pretty good scene 8/1/2006

Sort of low key for what I expected. Drinks were cheap though and the service was decent. Too dark and not really crowded, but maybe i went in on a bad night. Burgers next door are great if you get tired of the bar. Cons: no crowd more

No Hats?!?!?! 9/16/2005

Bar None is your typical ""DIVE"" bar. but for some reason, hats cannot be worn inside the place after 10pm. Even after you've been patronizing their establishment since 5pm. It is a stupid rule for a ""DIVE"" bar. They need to stop trying to be something they are not. The overzealous bouncers will patrol the bar in order to enforce this silly rule and will threaten to beat you up if you ask them about it. and what's worse they will do so while they and the bartenders wear their own hats. the drinks are cheap. but i shouldn't have to be 'dressed' up to go to a DIVE. Pros: cheap drinks, cheap drinks, cheap drinks Cons: agro bouncers, stupid no hat rule, stupid no hat rule more

I know this bar as well as anyone 1/8/2005

The big nights are Thurday through Saturday but in the summer, this place goes 7 days a week!! Men over 25 have no business there, not only will you meet no women your age, but the women will not be receptive. I've seen many men shot down there for being too old. Most of the women are under 21.f course women of any age are welcome wherever they go but you probably won't like it. This is a college bar mostly dominated by NYU. Leave the muscle shirts and the dress pants at home. T-shirt or button downs and jeans. There's a generous dancefloor for a bar. The DJs try to please everyone so everyone with a mix of hip-hop, rock and 80s music. The best place to hookup is at the bar up front then move to the dancefloor. Pros: Easy Hookup, Generous Dancefloor, $5 Cober Cons: , Bad DJs, Not very trendy more

blech 9/26/2004

only been here once, and will never go again. the bar was pretty much empty when i got there, and the two bartenders were too busy drinking with people sitting at the bar to make decent drinks. i got the worst cosmo i've ever tasted in my life: it was WARM and all i could taste was mix. it was also served in a much smaller than standard size martini glass. so a bad value on top of the horrible taste. Cons: , bad bartenders, bad value more

best hook up spot 8/20/2004

i cant get enough oh this loud, noisy, crowded dive. they have cheapest and strongest drinks in downtown. And definitly the coolest bartenders, especially Sal. Pros: strong drinks, music, nice bartenders Cons: , musics very loud more

Nice Place 5/7/2004

The drinks are half price till 11, which makes it a great place to go to before doing something else afterwards. The music is very mainstream: this is not the type of place from which you'll come out knowing new bands/artists. The crowd is young and friendly. The overall atmosphere was pleasant. People were there to talk and have some drinks, and showing off was fortunately not present the night I went (I'm tired of those trendy spots were people show off and TRY to be cool). Pros: cheap, laid back more

Great time in NYC 11/16/2003

I'm not from New york City, and I think most bars here are kind of boring and unfriendly. Bar None is just a basic kinda dive bar, a good ole fun place to go out with your friends. Bar none can get very crowded, and the bouncers outside didnt let me smoke in front of the bar (I had to move down the block a little) its also very loud. But once you're inside the music is really good, lots of 80's, and 90's fun stuff, country, hip hop- a good variety. Other than that the bartenders are really nice and pour strong drinks. One of the bartenders Tony from Pittsburgh is a georgous, and the girls are pretty hot too. Ill be back next time in NYC!!! Pros: great music, cheap drinks, good looking crowd Cons: loud, crowded more
