Great food and wine list!!! 11/21/2006

We've eaten here 4 or 5 times and have enjoyed it each time. I have also held a client appreciation dinner for 8 of my clients and they gave us our own private room. The appetizers were really good and the wine selection is really good for being a Vancouver restaurant. The rackof lamb is AWESOME, the service is great, and I hear the happy hour is also very good. Pros: Lamb, wine list, happy hour more

Expensive, but fun if you're over 40 11/17/2006

Great atmosphere in the lounge. Adam is an excellent bartender who remembers what you like. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Clientle is mostly good looking people with some net worth. Most people dress up when going here. Not at all a like a tavern atmosphere. Upscale with a crowd mostly over 40. Gets crowded quick on weekends, but staff will always find a way to get you a drink. Not recommened to attend if the Moes are playing due to overcrowding. If you want a seat at the bar on Friday or Saturday night, better get there by 8:00. Ate in the restraurant only once. Way to much money for what you get. Only go here for the lounge. Pros: Great Lounge Cons: Be prepared to spend alot more

Great night life 11/3/2006

My first time at Bacchus Restaurant/Bar was surprisingly amazing. A few friends of mine always brag about the entertainment on the weekends, so I finally decided to join them. We arrived around 9pm on October 28th, Bacchus Halloween party. I had a thrown together a costume earlier that day but I felt quite inadequate compared to the other patrons who obviously put a lot of effort into their costumes. The bar staff was very festive; they were all decked out in ingenious costumes. It was cutely decorated and the environment was engaging. It was difficult to find somewhere to sit because it was crowded, but we managed. The wait for drinks was impressively short for how many people were waiting. The drinks were great and the bartenders were fantastic. We had a few appetizers that were delicious. The entertainment was kind of cheesy, but we had a good time dancing. I would highly recommend this place for their night life, and I cannot wait to try the restaurant. Pros: Ambience, service, drinks Cons: Location more

Great wine selection, relaxing enviroment, great steaks, wait staff no care attitude. 10/21/2006

When walking in the front door of Bacchus, we waited alittle while before anyone acknowledged us. It seemed as though the hostess was busy eating at a table near by. A young male came to the door and greeted us. Before he could even get menu for us. The hostess got up with food in her mouth and proceeded to push him out the way. After being seating the same young male brought us bread and water, told us the waiter would be with us shortly. When the waiter approached the table he smelt of cigarette smoke and didnt even give us a proper greeting. He took our wine order along with the appetizer order. The appetizer of scallops wrapped in bacon were delicious as well as the coconut prawns. When we were finished our plates were cleared. We waited about at least 15 minutes before we flagged down the young male to bring our waiter. We noticed it took him awhile to find the waiter. Yet again the waiter came up to our table smelling awful. He completed taking our order. The ceaser salad is one the best I've tasted in at any restaurant. Our steaks were cooked to perfection as well as the rest of the items that accompanied them. The plates were cleared by the young male who offered us dessert & coffee. We gave him the dessert order to avoid the stinky lazy waiter. He really didnt do much but take the order, smoke, pour the wine, smoke, didnt even bother to check on us, smoke, oh and drop the check. The other male did the work. The restaurant was dead, I think he was stressed. I'm sure turning the corkscrew on the bottle of wine was too much for him. On our way out the hostess waved goodbye, with of course a folk in her mouth. I would somewhat recommended this place for food and the wine selection. Thats about it. Bring your febreze maybe the waiter could use a few sprays. Dont forget to feed your hostess! Pros: Ambience, Wine selection, Great steaks Cons: Service more

Definitely not worth the money 8/16/2006

A most disappointing evening. Reservations at 6:15 pm. Seated promptly by the hostess. Waitress took the wine order and on serving our drinks took our meal order. NEVER SAW HER AGAIN!!! Food brought by the water girl. Steak ordered ""medium"" was one shade past ""well done"". Would have liked to return it but could not get our waitress to pay any attention to us. Probably because she now had to wait on 4-6 tables. Table next to us received a ""well done"" steak instead of the ""medium rare"" he ordered. Took him 15 minutes to get the waitress to return to the table despite multiple attempts to atttract her attention. He got to eat his steak while his fellow diners had dessert! Finished dinner at 7:10. Asked the water girl twice if we could please get our bill. Finally had her box our left overs as our waitress was still to busy to return to our table. At 7:40 went and asked the hostess if we could have our bill. She asked me for my credit card and took it to the waitress who rang up my bill without my seeing it until I signed it. Noone ever inquired how our dinner was. Pros: Quick seating, Nice ambience, east parking. Cons: Very disappointing service, Poor value, apparently no manager overseeing operation more

Great food, great service 2/14/2006

Made a last minute reservation, just wanted a quiet dinner. Location a bit odd, it's in a business park off HWY-14 far out of the way from Portland. I stopped judging restaurants by their location and outward appearances long ago though. Girl taking reservations seemed disorganized but we were seated promptly. We were pleasantly surprised with the dim lighted ambience and live music. Name of the restaurant was a bit misleading, I was expecting some Italian influences but it didn't matter --everything we had was really good. Our waiter (David) was great from start to finish. The only annoying thing was that someone had a crying baby in the restuarant (too cheap to get a sitter? Everyone else did) Maybe the restaurant can instill a ""no kids rule for dinner... Pros: Food, Service, Lots of parking Cons: Location, Reservation confusion, Crying baby more

terrible ambiance 1/29/2006

The huge media screen in the center of the dining area where they have presentations during dinner is horrible. We were ""entertained"" during our $150.00 dinner by overhearing a retirement and investment seminar. It began about 35 minutes after we arrived, it was impossible to get away from the loud, intrusive presentation. I complained to the waiter but there was no one else to voice my displeasure to. I called the next day and was told, yes it was pretty awful but sorry. I tried to contact the manager and my calls were not returned. The food was Great and the service by the wait staff was very good but I would never recommend the restaurant because it was like trying to ""Fine Dine"" in the middle of a time share presentation. Pros: great food, very good wait staff, nice building Cons: big screen midia play, awful ambiance, no return call by man more

Great Fine Dining 1/2/2005

My husband and I went to Bacchus on New Year's Eve with 4 other couples. We were seated in a private area near the wine ""cellar"", which was fabulous. All the meals were excellent (I can vouch for the veal, duck, and elk myself), and the desserts were also great. The service staff was wonderful. Very classy date-type place, not good for kids who aren't used to formal dining or kids under about 5 at all. Though they needed the room for a new group, the staff didn't rush us at all. We'll definitely go back on the next ""special occasion"". Pros: Great food, Great service, Ambiance more

Wonderful Evening 7/4/2004

My husband and I went here for our first wedding anniversary and fell in love with this restaurant. The food was excellent and had wonderful service to match. We went on an early Monday evening and the place was empty but that did not take away from the charm at all. Our dinner did take some time getting to us but the waitress promptly apologized for the wait, but the wait was due mostly to the fact that my meat was about 1 inch thick and cooked to perfection. We look forward to going back, especially on a night when they have live jazz. Pros: great food, wonderful service more
