Best

The best BLT restaurant for sure. We loved everything. Even sides were different and excellent!! Wine list was amazing.

Worst

Go to Del Frisco's, Morton's or Ruth Chris Steakhouse instead!! Pros: popovers Cons: price, cleanness, kobe steak

Best Steak House in NYC? 10/27/2011

Best BLT restaurant 8/9/2009

This is my favorite BLT restaurant! It has a little bit of everything! BLT Fish and Fish Shack has mainly seafood, BLT Steak has mainly steaks, etc. I am completely in love with this restaurant! Their staff is more than helpful (managers included)! I have to say that I have never had a bad experience in this restaurant. If you are looking for a great quality meal, and have never been to any of the BLT's, then I think you should definitely go to BLT Prime first. They have an amazing wine selection also. Great food, great service! A definite must. Pros: Has a little bit of everything - amazing quality meal more

Amazing Food! 6/23/2009

BLT Prime is one of my favorite places in NEW YORK the prices are high but the quality of the food is well worth it! The staff is attentive and well versed in the menu. I recommend the tuna tartar (best ever!) and the peanut butter chocolate banana souffle cake! Pros: big portions, top of the line food more

Totally overrated 3/16/2009

I took my boyfriend out to dinner for a special occasion and was so excited to try BLT Prime. We are Wolfgang's lovers and expected to have an even better experience at BLT Prime, but we were sorely disappointed. Despite not being crowded, the server seemed disinterested in us at best. He was inattentive and apathetic and we had to wait over ten minutes for our drinks to come back from the bar. I was willing to overlook the shotty service if the food was great. Again, disappointed. Our $80 sirloin for two was severely undercooked. We ordered it medium and received a dancing cow on our plates instead. The meat was so rare it was cold. We sent it back and the server appeared as if we were inconveniencing him with our request to have our meat cooked to our requested temperature. All in all, BLT Prime was a huge disappointment. For great steak and great service, go to Wolfgang's. Pros: Good music Cons: Poor service, mediocre overpriced wine and undercooked meat more

Great Steaks!! 1/29/2009

I love the ribeye @ BLT and they have great appetizers, but the reason for 4 stars is I believe they are a little to pricey. Great place for cocktails! Pros: Steaks! Cons: Price! more

poor food, subpar service 11/30/2008

For the price and multitude of other steak places to eat, we'd recommend going elsewhere. This was possibly the worst meal we've had in the city. Given, everyone has their bad nights, but there were several areas that fell short. Pros: ambiance, wine Cons: food, service more

I Love This Restaurant 11/4/2008

Wow, this place is expensive, but what isn't down here? We were lucky and got a table. Here's your place. We started out with crab cake and the ceaser salad. Awesome. The main dishes ordered were the lamb, rib eye and no red meat for me, but chicken, yes, thank you for being ""the other white meat"" because their chicken was so good I couldn't believe it. This is partly why I can't give up the chicken. Yum. Anyway, save up some money, come here for a special occasion, enjoy. more

Great Dinner! 10/10/2008

The food was really good, they had some weird things on the menu too- if you want to try something different. Their dinner rolls are very tasty. Service was perfect, wine A+, ambiance was really upscale, modern- it was trendy, but not cheap looking, and comfortable. I really enjoyed dinner there and will be back. Pros: Great Steak more

over priced and overrated. avoid kobe steaks 7/21/2008

Wonderful Dining Experience 7/5/2008

Amazing steaks, very attentive service, the creamed corn with truffles was to die for, drinks were great!! No complaints, casual atmosphere - great space. The wine list is superb!! Definitely a must to try!! more

Best steak in a long time 6/14/2008

After the experience we had last night, I'm surprised by the previous reviews. The appetizers were ok, a white gazpacho soup that tasted nothing like gazpacho, and fantastic bacon, but the steaks we had were absolutely phenomenal. We like our steaks really rare, and this place had thecourage to do pittsburgh rare perfectly. I thought the cut of the night was the filet on the bone, tasted literally like butter. The sauces were surprisingly good, as well, the Roquefort was not overpowering, but you didn't need them. We've been to a lot of great steakhouses in the city, but we left BLT Prime surprised at how good it was. Pros: ambience, great seasoned steak Cons: appetizers more

I think the decorator did a good job.... 3/25/2008

I used to be a big fan of the BLT family, but after dining at Prime I'm beginning to wonder if the kitchens have taken a turn for the, well, less good. The service was fine, if not a little scattered but all of the staff meant well. The appetizer was amazing, we had the beefsteak tomato salad and from there it just became okay. The steak was cooked right, but the flavor was nothing to ""mmmm"" about. Our sides, particularly the blue cheese tater tots, were bordering on bad. Dessert was okay, but compared to the strawberry sundae at BLT Fish it was a complete snore. I still have great memories of BLT Steak, but after Prime and Market I feel like I shouldn't risk ruining it by going back. Pros: Ambience, service, beefsteak tomato appetizer Cons: food is just okay, but the price is memorably bad more

good steak, but otherwise overpriced and forgettable 2/8/2008

Went here for a celebration dinner. The restaurant looked nice, we were seated promptly. We ordered a porterhouse for two, an appetizer, and a couple sides. The waiter was nice, but not great, he seemed confused when I asked for a wine recommendation between $50-60, went off to read his cliff notes, then returned 10 minutes later with a $70 recommendation. The food itself was underwhelming. The steak was very good (though not incredible), the appetizers and sides where forgettable and overpriced. Pros: Nice decor, very good steak Cons: Sides & appetizers were below average, the wine list was ridiculous, and the wait staff was pretty good, but bot great. more

Great steak, annoying waitstaff, home of the 9 dollar beer! 12/15/2007

I went with my girlfriend here last year for my birthday. I am a real steak afficionado I know how to cook meat and can eat it with equal flare. My first shock upon entering the restaurant was at the bar where I ordered a beer and it cost 9 dollars! I know its Manhattan but wow I could have bought a whole six pack for that price and not just of budweiser. My girlfriend arrived shortly after and we were seated right away. The hostess was very engaging and nice but hey that's her job right? I felt the lighting in there was way too bright, possibly because we were by the kitchen area. As you walk in you can see the big meat refrigerator with all the dead cow you'll ever want to see inside. We were very and I mean very attended to by our waiter. It seemed as if every ten seconds someone was walking by our table eyeing us down to see what part of the meal we were in which I really found annoying. We ordered a steak for two which I don't remember which kind it was but I must say it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. It was served to us in a black frying pan and it was juicy and cooked well. If you go to a place like this don't order a well done steak. It defeats the whole purpose of ordering such great meat to cook it to death. We ordered ours medium rare and it was cooked that way. I just didn't like the over attentive staff. Usually I understand people want attention but I swear every few minutes someone would walk by eyeing us down and I felt like saying something. I don't like being rushed. Only go here if your willing to drop some major cashola because its not cheap. I will say though if you want an amazing steak it is worth the price, don't order any booze or wine and the bill will be much cheaper. Sides were ok nothing to brag about. you go here for the meat and that's it. If you have a big party and like drinking, get ready to have a coronary when the bill comes. Otherwise enjoy the feast. Pros: Amazing steak Cons: annoying waitstaff and 9 dollar beers are a rip off more

Bad Service, so so food 12/4/2007

Sat on the bar for 10 minutes before someone even bothered to take our order. 10 additional minutes later when our table was ready the bartender took 10 more minutes to charge my card, while the hostess stood by us also waiting! The dining room was comfortable and morden but the service continued to disappoint. When you get a filet mignon with a bone, i guess someone is not listening. Shiny train but broken engine and sleepy conductors! If i'm paying $$$$ then i need $$$$ service and great (not good) food. Pros: Good decor Cons: Terrible service more

overpriced 11/6/2007

passable service, passable food, well versed staff, well presented- but worth the price and the hype? Pros: no wait Cons: overpriced more

good food for a price 8/30/2007

this place isnt bad it really isnt. the food is actually good. i mean, the steaks are whatever--there steaks. but the chef specials are always interesting. the thing is, this place is so expensive eating here is imposible for people who make a normal amt of money. also the service is really substandard. and good luck finding a bottle of wine for less than 50 bucks. overall most of the reviews for this place say the same thing: decent but insanely $$$. for me i would rather eat a steak somewhere else and have a few bucks left over. Pros: the food is good Cons: pricy, no reasonable wines more

Trouble 8/23/2007

What gets me is that half the people writing the reviews WORK for these restaurants. So how can you take them seriously? I've been to BLT Prime a handful of times and have never been impressed by anything. The food is pedestrian. The wine list is unapprocable--way too expensive for normal people. The staff is dim-witted. I could think of a lot of better ways to spend $200. Pros: good lighting Cons: pretty much everything else more

Prime Choice! 8/22/2007

This was my second time eating at BLT Prime. Everything about this restaurant seems to work great- they know what they are doing. The service is not pushy but always around to attend to you. The steaks are out of this world-cooked to perfection and served in a HOT cast iron dish-love the old school style. The menu also has a great selection of sauces to accompany your meat and/or fish dish. A really extensive wine list with great price ranges and wines from all around the world made it easy to have a nice glass of red with my steak. If you are looking for a great place to spend some money on a great dinner, BLT Prime should always be an option. Pros: Food, service, wine selection Cons: price, noise level more

Plain Old Bad 8/21/2007

Want a bad steak that WON'T force premature bankruptcy? Try Tad's in Times Square. Because this place is an embarassment to the NY restaurant scene. Pros: Tuna Tartare Cons: Everything else, especially the service. more
