I have been going to Ax-Man for over 20 years. Whenever I have out of town guests, I always include a stop at Ax-Man on the tour...usually right after the Mpls Inst. of Arts or the Science Museum. The best parts of the experience are the hand written signs ""explaining"" what an item is. Too funny! more

an awesome store for diy projects 11/20/2005

this store is liek a warehouse of parts, there are hundreds of types of sting, wire, motors, metals parts, anything you could need for your home projects. Every thing is incredibly cheap. The staff there are knowlegeble in making things and can help you out. I recomend this place to all you diy ppl o science projects, etc more

Fun toys can be found, amongst the clutter. 9/6/2005

A sound designers paradise. The Film-Sound department at my school has been known to frequent ax-man on numerous occasions, finding all sorts of instruments to replicate or create sound effects. I'm not a huge fan of the store aside from things like that, but you never know what you may find. You might just score the perfect piece to complete your living room. more

Ax Man Surplus Store 7/31/2005

Back when we owned our house, we would go to this surplus store whenever we decided to remodel or change something in the house. One of the times that we shopped there, we found the door and drawer knobs for our kitchen cupboards. They were less than anywhere else that we had looked. My husband went there a lot to shop around, not always coming home with anything, but browsing around for the fun of it. It is more of a man's store than for us women because it is quite dirty and everything is everywhere! Guys, have fun shopping here, if it interests you. Fun Junk Store 5/31/2005

Ax Man Surplus is basically a "junk" store - but it's a lot of fun to browse. If you don't know what you're looking for, then this is the place for you! Warning - don't wear light colored clothes to this store - it's not exactly clean. The item descriptions put up by the staff are cheap entertainment. PROS: fun CONS: dirty more
