I really enjoyed my time here at Awa African Hair Braiding. I spoke with Awa on yesterday about what I wanted and she made sure I got what I asked for. The ladies worked hard in a...

I'm hard to please, but I'm always happy with my results... 10/20/2009

First, I'd like to say, that I get full sew-in hair weaves and I am VERY hard to please. Because, I want my hair the way I say I want it. Fortunately, I get just what I'm looking for when I go to AWA. The rates are very reasonable comparable to other salons in Charlotte. The service is quick and professional - all delivered with great and friendly attitudes. There is no language barrier that prevents my stylist from giving me the best results possible. Before I started going to AWA I had been going to places that could not deliver the goods to suit my satisfaction. So I shopped around continously for someone who could do my hair my way but I was never completely satisfied until I stumbled upon this salon. My hair looks as good as any celebrities hair does. And there are no tell-tell signs; which means, you can't tell if it's my own hair or someone else's hair that I purchase. Words to the wise: Anyone can sew it in hair. But can they sew it so that you reap the style that you want? I will continue going there as long as they're in business. Thanks ladies for a job well done! Pros: They listen to my instructions and always get it right! Cons: I wish the shop were closer to my house more

For Micro's hair is not HUMAN! but SYNTHETIC 9/1/2009

I went to this shop on 08/21/2009 to get micro's for a wedding that was taking place on 08/29/2009. I went to the salon on 08/28/2009 to get my hair curled. When the girl curled it, she asked me what type of hair was it? after looking back at her iron i seen my hair was melted on it, I was furious. I realized my hair was synthetic. I went back to her shop to talk to her about it.She just kept saying it was human hair. She told me to go get it rodded and put in hot water. went to several salons wasn't able to get in, and several seen the hair was synthetic. finally got it set under a dryer at Wa-Mart Salon. The curls didn't last and hour. I called her back after the wedding was over, because it was a flop for the wedding couldn't do anything with it. we argued for about 20 mins. I told her i will come back in there with my curling iron to show her. I did that today... I showed her a video i made curling human hair tracks which curled. and what it did to my braided hair, which burned my hair off. She did not care, continued to say it was human hair. I plugged my curling iron in and tried curling my hair. it didn't curl at all. curled the human hair it curled. I told her if i waited until it got really hot it would burn my hair off. She didn't offer me a dime, or to redo my hair. I told her i had to take it out because it was itchy, and damaging to my real hair. She said it was human hair. I said thank you and left. I will put my video on youtube more
