Awa African Hair Braiding

I really enjoyed my time here at Awa African Hair Braiding. I spoke with Awa on yesterday about what I wanted and she made sure I got what I asked for. The ladies worked hard in a timely manner and got me in and out fast. There is a pleasant homey feeling here and I will be sure to return. I love my Marley Twist. Thanks ladies. more

My First visit yesterday and i was soo happy with how they braided my hair. I braid my hair often and I finally found my place in Charlotte, and they don't overbook clients!!! I absolutely love this place!!! more

I went to this shop on 08/21/2009 to get micro's for a wedding that was taking place on 08/29/2009. I went to the salon on 08/28/2009 to get my hair curled. When the girl curled it, she asked me what type of hair was it? after looking back at her iron i seen my hair was melted on it, I was furious. I realized my hair was synthetic. I went back to her shop to talk to her about it.She just kept saying it was human hair. She told me to go get it rodded and put in hot water. went to several salons wasn't able to get in, and several seen the hair was synthetic. finally got it set under a dryer at Wa-Mart Salon. The curls didn't last and hour. I called her back after the wedding was over, because it was a flop for the wedding couldn't do anything with it. we argued for about 20 mins. I told her i will come back in there with my curling iron to show her. I did that today... I showed her a video i made curling human hair tracks which curled. and what it did to my braided hair, which burned my hair off. She did not care, continued to say it was human hair. I plugged my curling iron in and tried curling my hair. it didn't curl at all. curled the human hair it curled. I told her if i waited until it got really hot it would burn my hair off. She didn't offer me a dime, or to redo my hair. I told her i had to take it out because it was itchy, and damaging to my real hair. She said it was human hair. I said thank you and left. more

I recently got my hair braided here and am very pleased with the results. It took less time than I expected, and the staff is very welcoming and personable. I never thought I would spend over $100 on my hair, but I feel the job done was well worth the price and I plan to return to this establishment! more

I have been to Awa's three times and I've been pleased all three times. I've even sent my family, including my daughter. We are all pleased with the services. Rocky, the owner-operator is very attentive. She doesn't play games with her prices (like Aabie's). And you don't have small braids on the outside and big braids in the middle.
