Chocolate for those who don't like sweets 3/10/2006

Australian Homemade is chocolate for those who claim they don't have a sweet tooth. Their chocolates are spicy, nutty and bitter more than anything else. Personal favorites are coconut with orange wrapped in white chocolate, cinnamon in milk chocolate, and cranberry in dark chocolate. Other popular flavors include almond and ginger in dark chocolate, and a double chocolate hazelnut cream. They also do a number of special chocolates on a holiday and seasonal basis, but these sell out quickly. Often, getting the chocolates you want requires two or three visits; items sell out easily, and it's best to always ask when they are expecting their next shipment. The chocolates themselves are beautiful, decorated with aboriginal themed designs. They make impressive and interesting gifts. Also not to be missed is their incredible ice cream. Their Belgian chocolate is more like sweet cream with bitter chocolate, and is astounding. In the winter, they melt this down and serve it as their hot chocolate. A wide array of fruit sorbets is also always available, and pints are available to take home. People always tease me about my love for this place, assuming it's just because I'm so into all things Australian, but everyone I take there becomes an instant convert. more

Aussie Ice Cream and Chocolates that Can't Be Beat 1/12/2006

The rich chocolate smell is one of the first things to hit you when you enter this jewel of NYC but nothing beats introducing your tastebuds to one of their delicious desserts. Their ice cream is some of the best I've ever had but their chocolates are even better. Decorated with aboriginal art, these Belgian-style chocolates are to die for. Whenever I stop in I'm sure to pick one up for my mom since she too can't get enough of these tasty chocolate-y treats. more

Neat Ice cream and Chocolate 7/26/2005

This is a cool place to go in the East Village especially later in the evening when many places have already closed. The ice cream is served not frozen which allows you to taste the flavor much more intensely. The chocolates are excellent and come in a large variety of flavors. They have some tables so you can eat in and they are children friendly. more

Chocolate and Ice cream 7/7/2005

Right in the heart of the east Village. they sell funky chocolate treats most of which are very thick and creamy. The Ice Cream is cool. They don't freeze it but instead serve it slightly mushy which enhances the taste as your taste buds dont freeze up from the cold. Sounds silly but it really works. Try it with Ice Cream from the fridge. The best of course is they are open really late midnight on weekends which works out well for me as I'm a Night Owl of sorts. more
