Editorial review from Citysearch 2/25/2013

Gave me the wrong information and product that if I had used could have permanently damaged drivers of a $50,000 pair of speaker systems.\r I even showed them an example of the driver that was in working condition and still I got the wrong information and product. more

Fantastic work 7/18/2011

Both my brother and I had some Boston Acoustic speakers that we love, but the foam had wasted away, causing the speakers to sound like they had been blown. Took 'em in to Austin Speaker Service, and 8 years after the repair, they still sound brand new. Saved me a ton of money. I don't know how I could give a better review than that. True artisans! Highly recommended! (Not sure about the person who wrote that they were rude, but my experience is that generally, you get back what you project.) They were great with me, explaining what the problem was, how it could be fixed, and how I needed to let the glue dry completely before using. They know their stuff. more

Woofers That Sound and Look as Least as Good as New 7/2/2010

Ron “re-foamed” (replaced the surrounds) on 4 woofers. He finished the repair in a reasonable amount of time. The work was complete and careful. The woofers looked like new. The sound was tight and clear, at least as good as new. A minor issue over final price, but that was resolved immediately and satisfactorily. Pros: Quality of Work more

the absolute best 4/8/2010

This place happens to be one of the best speaker repair shops in the nation located right here in Austin. I've been in the audio service industry for several years and have had nothing but great feed back from this place. Their work is impeccable, very passionate about what they do. (reconing, repair, replacements, and even some consignment)\r \r The only complaint ever heard was on customer service, but you don't go to a repair shop for a smile, a hand shake and hollow vernacular. \r \r Think of them as artist. Eccentric yes, but still the best! Pros: excellent service, experience, knowledge more

Won't go anywhere else 8/10/2009

We have purchased parts from them and had them do repairs for us. When we could not longer get the parts for our favorite old pair of speakers, Austin Speaker found suitable, comparable replacement parts and re-fitted the cabinets to accept them. He even let us listen to a couple of different set ups before we decided on which one he would complete the repair with. The sound was every bit as good as they were when we first got them, and the price charged for the repair was very fair. Funny thing--we got to talking audio with a friend and found out that Austin Speaker is where he has always taken his equipment too. As for the ""customer service"" comments from other people who have posted here, my guess is they have different expectations about customer service. Austin Speaker is a casual place. They don't wear starched shirts and call you sir, they repair speakers. And they do it very well. Pros: expertise, honorable, fair more

Speaker NOT-repaired 4/20/2009

There are not many official speaker repair stores in Austin, but I would rather send my speakers far away using FedEx than attempt to have them repaired at Austin Speaker Svc. Do not use their business if you expect any sort of customer service. I have no idea how they're still in business. Cons: RUDE, poor business manners, bad with customers more
