I have to admit I am pretty meticulous when it comes to my car.
It seems I am prone to accidents (not always my fault), and I've had pretty regular trips to the body shop.
In the past 2 years I have had a Ford F-150, BMW Z4 (twice), and this Porsche in the body shop.
My girlfriend's father owns a body shop in Houston, thus we are fairly familiar with body repair and also common practices of body shops.
Aus-Tex Body and Frame is a breath of fresh air in this industry. Tom Breeden, manager and estimator, not only knows his stuff, but is really an honest
Repairs:
Replace/Repaint Porsche 911 Carrera bumper, side skirts.
-- Instead of having me buy a new bumper, he said they could just repair that bumper and repaint it, saving me around $800 USD. He also told me he could repair the side skirts, until he saw the other one, which was in pretty bad shape.
-- I told Tom to send my wheel off to get it resurfaced by another company and just mark it up for me. Instead of doing that, he took care of it all, arranged pick up and drop off, put the wheel back on, and simply handed me their direct invoice. He did not mark it up a cent.
-- I paid only $1200 for the entire job. A small customer to say the least. and yet living farther away without a ride, Tom personally dropped me off and offered to pick me up.
-- He has a fellow in the paint department that's worked in Germany for Porsche. My paint came out smooth, shiny, and looking really good.
End result? My car looks better than before. I also found a body shop I feel comfortable bringing all my future cars to.
I would HIGHLY recommend Aus-Tex to anyone looking to repair their car. They also have a 24x7 towing service available which I also used. The fellow seemed extremely happy to work for Aus-Tex and recommended Tom to me. He also helped me put my groceries in my friends car after totaling Lexus... but that's for another time.
I am a very hard man to please... and if I can trust a $130,000 car at Aus-Tex, I hope others can too! I am absolutely sure you will be wonderfully taken care.
I did see some negative reviews on here before I went in so I was a bit hesitant to have them work on the car. It appears these reviews were during a period when Tom was not manager. I believe Tom has been working here only for the past few months. As long as Tom Breeden is there, this review stands firm.
