My favorite all time dish here is Uncle Wade's Ribs. Just typing it out makes me hungry! I get 2 side...

The fried chicken, smothered pork chops, collard greens, macaroni and cheese and peach cobbler at this place ALL compete with those at my beloved Jordan's Cafe. The ambience in he...

Best Sould Food on the Westside 9/11/2003

I recently discovered Aunt Kizzy's and it brought back pleasant memories of my grandparents' soul food cooking. I LOVE THEIR COLLARD GREENS! This place is at least as good as Roscoes Chicken & Waffles. Pros: Collard Greens, Fried Chicken, Candied Yams more

Horrible Service! 1/1/2003

I'd heard great things about this restaurant, so I was excited to try it. We were seated quickly, but we waited for over 25 minutes just for someone to take our order. It took another 20 minutes for the food to come out, and my order was wrong. The chicken was dry--it had obviously been cooked long ago. When I tried to get the waitstaff's attention, they avoided eyecontact and passed me by several times before I finally flagged one down. They were slow and reluctant to correct mistakes. I was so sad that the place sucked so much! Pros: Celeb photos, Cozy Cons: Rude waiters, Slow service, Cold food more

Great Food in Heaping Servings 10/26/2002

The food is very good, but it definitely isn't good for your heart. Portions are huge, so bring your appetite. If you want to stay healthy and care about your heart, I wouldn't eat here every day. You can also peruse the celebrity clientele whose 8x10 photos are posted on the walls. They had a B rating the last time I went. Pros: big servings, inexpensive more

Sole Soul 9/12/2002

Aunt Kizzy's is great for selection--especially if you don't have cholesterol issues. Generally the dishes move pretty quickly but occasionally coming later in the afternoon or evening can result in ""tired"" looking and tasting food. Very casual--great for larger parties IF you can find a table. more

Great catfish 5/19/2002

I don't claim to be a Southern food expert, but the catfish at Aunt Kizzy's is excellent. The fish was fresh, and, was not at all greasy. more

Good and filling 5/18/2002

I'm no soul food expert, but the snapper I had was good, as were the mac 'n cheese and black eyed peas. Only problem is that all the entrees are like $12 and $13. What about like a $7 option where you just get sides? There's a good chance they offer this and I missed it. And if it's not on the menu, they might put it together special for you anyway. more

Authentic Southern Cooking 5/12/2002

The atmosphere is very southern, very back porch. You'll feel like you're in the Delta having dinner with your extended family you never knew existed.\r \r My co-worker a couple jobs ago insisted that she introduce me to the fine art and delicious taste of southern cooking and soul food. From the very first bite, I fell in love with Aunt Kizzy's. \r \r The barbequed and grilled chicken is juicy and flavor-filled. I recommend the macaroni and cheese (soooo bad for you) and collard greens as sides. Make sure you put peppers in the greens, or if that's too spicy, mix them with the candied yams instead. The peach cobbler makes a delectable dessert.\r \r Talk about carbo-loading, but don't miss out on the fresh baked muffins either. Pros: huge portions Cons: cholesterol central more
