What's the fuss about? 1/26/2011

Four stars for the atmosphere, 2 stars for the food. I have eaten here twice (with a group) and have been completely underwhelmed. The 2nd time I thought I would play it safe and get a burger. Who can mess up a burger? It was dry as a bone, over cooked, and there was a fair amount of gristle. I didn't finish it. None of my friends ooh'ed and ahh'ed over their food either, so I can't figure out why so many people love it. The restaurant itself is nice and enjoyable. more

So So Experience 4/29/2009

Judging by the reviews below, everyone loves this place. But, I had brunch with friends there the other day and I was less than impressed. Food was cold and service so so.....I will definately give it another try though. Pros: Nice Patio Cons: well.... more

Love this place! 2/23/2009

My husband and I thought Atkins was a great place! The atmosphere was relaxed and the food was awesome. I got their special BLT and my husband got there buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, but what topped the experience was our dessert. It was a phenominal warm apple stuffed pastry on top of vanilla ice cream and swimming in caramel. Definitely save room for this! We highly recommend Atkins. more

Great food and atmosphere 2/2/2009

Went to Atkins Park for the first time this weekend with family visiting from out of town. We all loved the food- especially the mussels, pueblano queso, jumbayala, and burgers. We sat on the porch which was covered and heated and very comfortable despite the chilly temperatures. We will definitely return for the great food, drink specials, and relaxing atmosphere. more

Great Bar and Great Food, Wonderful for Smyrna! 3/24/2008

Smyrna is on an upswing right now, and Atkins Park Tavern is at the helm. Going out on a Friday night with friends here is a real pleasure. The food is delicious and exceptionally prepared, and the service has never let us down. Whether you order just a burger or a full entree, you will not be disappointed. My favorite entree is the Boursin Filet, and for lunch I love to get the Shrimp Po-Boy. This is DEFINITELY a place worth looking into if you are around Smyrna and looking for a great time and great food. I like to take clients for lunch here as well. Definitely recommend it, don't miss out! Pros: Great food, great atmosphere, nice staff. more

I have eaten there twice and won't go back. 8/3/2007

Most of the good reviews on this site are probably from people who live in Smyrna, where there aren't very many decent food options outside chains. The Virginia Highlands version of this place is a interesting bar with a good history. The Smyrna store lacks any of that appeal. more

Atkins Park is Awesome! 3/28/2007

WOW! Atkins Park is clearly part of the changing Smyrna landscape and a wonderful culinary oasis to the area. Recently we stopped in for a late lunch and ate outside on the patio. The fountain across the street made for a pleasant cafe-like setting. Our server, Lauren, was prompt, pleasant and helpful. She informed us that the gumbo was spicy which only encouraged me to order a bowl instead of a cup. My partner ordered the meatloaf and I chose the hazelnut Greek stripped bass. Lauren confirmed that both were popular choices. more

Good food, good service. 12/26/2006

Great food and service, we really enjoy their Sunday Brunch too. Only complaint would be the noise level sometimes gets crazy since the rooms are not carpeted. Otherwise, it's definitely a go... Pros: food and sevice great Cons: can be noisy more

Finally we get to enjoy this great food prepared by Rusty in Smyrna. For those of you who haven't been to Smyrna lately, it is NOT your ""grandmother's Smyrna"" anymore. All of the restaurants/bars in the Market Village area have created a NEW SMYRNA and a place to see and be seen. more

Dinner with friends 10/19/2005

We had a Birthday Dinner last week at Atkins Restaurant. There were eight of us and we had a ball! The food was great! Everyone liked their choices. Our server, Heather, was over the top with wonderful service for each of us. The restaurant was clean and very charming. In fact, we are going back tomorrow to celebrate another birthday. What a great addition to the metro area. more

A Little bit of Yummy in Smyrna 3/15/2005

We were very pleased the two times we have dined there - first for brunch and then for dinner a couple of weeks later. The brunch menu had so many wonderful choices that I just couldn't decide. I was disappointed with the lack of hot tea selection, but the food was everything I was looking for. Service for brunch was helpful and attentive. Dinner was also filled with many good choices. My dining partners and I shared our meals and everything was good. Service was quite a bit slow at refilling drinks and coming by to check on us during dinner, but other than that it was an enjoyable evening. Great value for your money! more

Horrible Owner 5/9/2004

Myself, my husband and a good number of our friends loved this restaurant until we were in there one night and the OWNER (not just a manager) turned an evening of bad luck into a nightmare. Without going into all the details, we would chalked the evening up to them having an off night until we tried to have a civil conversation with the owner who was very curt, rude and down right mean. We didn't even want any kind of reimbursement all we wanted to do was simply point out their mistakes because I truely believe that if management doesn't know there's a problem it will never get fixed. The food was always very good (except the veal) but if you happen to have any problems with the service or the food good luck. more
